How to insert the rubber strip on the under side ? Do I just cut the strips to fit?

Yep; if you check out page two of the linked installation instructions, you can see the explanation of inserting the rubber strip for the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG216.
It states: 1) With the cross bars installed, measure the distance of the exposed slot. With scissors, trim the rubber insert to measured length. 2) From the bottom of each cross bar, press the rubber insert into the exposed slot.

My inserts fell off of my bars overnight? I installed them and parked my car, next morning I go outside and see the bottom rubber wind inserts have fallen/drooped down because they are too loose. Also when I slid them into the bars they were pretty loosely fitted and wasn’t sure if the flat side or the curved side should be facing down (towards the wind coming in)
