Today on our 2017 Ford F150 we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers Y00422, these are the Yakima Core Bar Cross Bars, 60" long. Part number Y00146, these are the Base Line Towers for the Yakima Cross Bars, and part number Y006122. This is the Base Clip Fit Kit for you Ford F150. The Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof, while freeing up space inside your truck and your truck bed. It can also be used in conjunction with your ladder rack, to act as an extension for your longer ladder racks, or lumber, or whatever it is you're hauling. The two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 220 pounds, although you want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. It also has these end caps that do come with knock outs that you can replace with Yakima Same Key Systems, so once you install this on your roof it will stay on your roof.
The bars here have a nice aerodynamic shape to them which will cut down wind noise and drag while you're traveling as well. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We already have it partially installed on our table here. This is going to be the rear bar, and our next step is to take our baseline tower, hook it up to our adaptor piece, and put it on to this end here. We'll first take our plastic adaptor piece here, and push it in. You're going to wait for two clicks to push that in, then this adaptor piece will fit on top like so.
So get it on top of that, and flip it upside down. You'll see that it's blocked off right now. We'll just open this piece here on the outside, and then we should be able to get to our screw and take our included tightening tool, and just loosely tighten that up. Then we'll slide this on. Once this is measured out as per the instructions we'll tighten it down the rest of the way. Now the nice part about this tightening tool is once it's completely tightened down we hear audible clicks so you know you're not over-tightening it. There we go.
Now while we use this area to tighten it down to the bar, this area here you'll see has these notches and this little slot here. You can loosen this up and adjust it accordingly, and your instructions will tell you if it has to go back or forward so many degrees. You'll adjust it accordingly, tighten it down, and then you're good to go. Before we put it on to our roof I'll take the rubber pad from our fit kit, and I'll push that into place. I'll push this end cap in as well. Now we can set it on our roof, in no particular place.
Next we'll measure between center of the bar to center of the bar for our cross bar spread. Again you'll find this measurement in your instructions. We'll take the clamp end, and that just pushes into place like so, and you can see how it sets about the doorframe. To lower that down we'll go to this screw, turn it to the right like so, and then we'll go to the center screw and we'll just snug it up against the doorframe. We'll repeat this for the driver's side, and then we'll completely tighten them down. Once you hear those clicks we'll close the door there, and then our final step is going to be taking our end caps, and pushing them into place. Then we can load up our gear and hit the road. There you have it for the Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System, on our 2017 Ford F150.

Heavy-duty crossbars mount to Yakima towers to create an aftermarket roof rack. Top and bottom channels let you add channel-mount accessories. Tie-down points in endcaps let you easily secure cargo.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
etrailer was a great place to order, quick and easy. Yakima products however are over priced and overly complicated.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Great product, as are all Yakima products,in my opinion. These are on a Yakima system installed on my Diamond Back tonneau cover. Very pleased with them
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
We purchased the rack 5 weeks in advance of our up and coming trip. (Rack is amazing FYI). However, The website states free shipping over a certain amount. Weeks went by with notifications nothing was sent and the order kept being pushed back.
Once I called I was told those who chose to purchase shipping vs opting for the free shipping got their orders firsts; everyone else fell to the bottom. After waiting a month for “free shipping” I opted to have paid shipping and I received the rack within days.
While this company has many products I could use, I refuse to use them again because what is advertised is NOT what they ethically hold themselves accountable too.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
These adapters were easy to install and made my system fit together nicely.
I had a difficult time identifying whether these were the correct adapters for the rack towers that I was purchasing to fit my tracks but that has more to do with yakima doing everything a-la-cart instead of having kits that include everything you need if I hadn't already had the HD bars on my other rack and wanted to be able to transfer them to this rack I probably wouldn't have went to this expense because I think they are overpriced.AS far as etrailer is concerned I always receive great service and products and they are always well packaged and never damaged by poor delivery care and always fast delivery speed.
Your service is nothing short of excellent! Thank you
While putting the roof racks together, one needs to pay close attention to the detailed instructions; but, so far, the equipment is working well with a good fit on my Toyota highlander—I’ve traveled some 1000 miles so far.
Yakima OverHaul HD is built tough, sturdy, light but heave duty, well designed, easy to install and remove by leaving the locking base on the track. The height can be adjusted easily to a desired height to fit just right. The "bonus" is a beer bottle opener on each rail :)
Customer service at etrailer is excellent! Always responsive, immediately reply to help with any questions. Tayler K. was my sales representative, she's been super!
Great product and even better was the service with etrailer! These guys make it happen and delivery was super fast. Thanks for a fantastic experience, will be a return customer.
Yakima HD bars 60”
2018 Ford Expedition
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
The Yakima products are doing great. Just got home yesterday from a 18 day trip using them in Michigan's upper peninsula. Love them. Great products. Thanks again.

These are some heavy duty crossbars.
Owned several surfboard racks in 45 years and these are by far the best.
Great tie downs also.
