Question:
I am looking to outfit my 2022 Tahoe with a Hullavator Kayak lift assist roof rack. I do not have any roof cross bars, just the molded roof rails from the factory. I am not sure what I need due to the required overhand of the hullavator and the taper of the top of the tahoe. It seems that I need a very long crossbar to clear the side of the vehicle, but I dont know if that is correct. Any guidance of everything I might need is very much appreciated.

Hi Kristen!
The Thule Hullavator requires anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of overhang past the tower to make sure it will not come in contact with your 2022 Chevy Tahoe. You didn't mention if you were going to running just one or one on each side, so that is definitely something to take into account. That said, these are going to be your two best options:
Aero Bar Option:
Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 70" Long - Qty 2 # Y00427
SightLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Flush Side Rails - Qty 4 Y64AR
SightClip Fit Kit for Yakima SightLine and RidgeLine Roof Rack Towers # Y44UV
Square Bar Option:
Yakima HD Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 78" Long - Qty 2 # Y01159
HD Bar Adapter for Yakima Streamline Towers - Qty 4 # Y03541
SightLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Flush Side Rails - Qty 4 Y64AR
SightClip Fit Kit for Yakima SightLine and RidgeLine Roof Rack Towers # Y44UV
There are pluses as minuses to both options, but if you are running two Hullavator, the longer square bar option is the way to go, even with the extra adapter required to attach the HD bars to the towers. If you are just running one, I would go with the aero bar option as it will be quieter (you may need to mount the bars off-center to get the required overhang). Yes, it is shorter, but square bars can be louder than you expect.
Do you already have the Hullavator? And out of curiosity, what kind of kayak(s) do you have?

Hi Kristen, Did you decide on the aero or square bar option for your Hullavator setup on your Tahoe? I'm curious if the solution worked well for your kayak transport needs. I'd love to hear your outcome as it could give others confidence when setting up their roof racks.
