Question:

Will the Rhino Rack crossbar adapter Item # KC-FK8 work with Yakima HD Bar crossbars? I want to mount the Rhino Rack J Style kayak carrier S512. Thanks.

The Rhino-Rack Crossbar Adapter, part # KC-FK8, is designed to fit the 2 Kayak Carrier, part # S512-S512X, into bars with a C-channel (or T-track).

The Yakima HD Crossbars, part # Y01157, do have a T-track, so this adapter should work for you. I called Rhino-Rack, and they also stated that it should work.

However, since this is not 100% confirmed, if you would rather go with a kayak carrier that is already designed to work with square bars like yours, we have that here. It's the Malone FoldAway-5, part # MAL38FR. These have the ability like the Rhino-Racks to be used in a J-Style, Folding, or Side-Loading manner.
