Question:
I have the Yakima HD bars, does this work with the Rhino rack bat wing?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning Driver's Side # RR33100, or # RR33200 Passenger's Side are compatible with the Yakima HD Crossbars, like # Y01157. The Batwing uses the top channel on your Yakima bars to attach to them with the included hardware. Both the Yakima HD bars and the Rhino-Rack Vortex bars use a 7/16 inch wide top channel, so you'll just want to follow the same instructions as if you were mounting the awning on the Vortex bars. I've attached the complete installation instructions for you at the bottom of the page.
Keep in mind that in order to have enough space to use the Batwing, your bars have to extend past the roof rack legs, as seen in the photo below.

Hi - thank you for this information. In your reply you say "Both the Yakima HD bars and the Rhino-Rack Vortex bars use a 7/16 inch wide top channel, so you'll just want to follow the same instructions as if you were mounting the awning on the Vortex bars." So does that mean I could theoretically use my rhino rack pioneer platform (previously attached to the supplied vortex bars) with a new Yakima Overhaul rack with HD bars?
