Video Transcript for Review of MB Sturgis Propane - 30 PSI Single Stage Propane Regulator - 108072

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this single stage propane regulator. This is going to regulate the flow of your propane from your holding tank to your application. This will have a 30 PSI flow. So, it will regulate it down to that 30 PSI.

You can see, we do have, very clearly marked, our in an out, our direction of travel. For us, that's also marked on the inlet and outlet itself. These are both quarter inch connections, so it should be very easy to hook this up in line with your current systems, so that everything will flow properly and you won't have to worry about damaging your application. This will work in a temperature range from negative,20 degrees Fahrenheit, all the way up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. So, a wide temperature range there that this will work in.

This does meet the UL144 certification for LP gas use exclusively. So, as long as you are using it as it is intended to be used, it is going to meet that UL144 certification. And it is made here in the USA, so you can trust it is going to be a good quality fit for you. So, if you are looking for a 30 PSI regulator, this is gonna do a great job in making sure that your applications aren't gonna be getting too much propane, which could potentially damage them. So, that completes our look for today.

Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Ask the Experts about this MB Sturgis Propane

  • Can Single Stage Regulator Be Used for Both 20 Pound and 100 Pound Propane Tank
A single stage regulator like the MB Sturgis # 108072 you referenced will indeed work on either a 20 pound or 100 pound propane tank. It's important to note though that the regulator type is really dependent on the propane-powered appliance you're using and not necessarily the tank itself. A dual-stage regulator like # 108221 will provide a more constant/consistent pressure for your appliance.

  • Is Teflon Tape Needed To Seal the Propane Regulator
Yes, you will want to use some sort of thread sealer like part # LT37482 or pipe tape like part # A05-0265 on the NPT fittings inside of the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072. As a general rule, all NPT fittings should have some sort of thread sealer or pipe tape on them. Not to confuse you but some supply hoses (propane tank to regulator) like part # 100833-12 come with an inverted flare fitting and if that is the case then you would also need part # 402258-MBS...

I don't know the code requirements for your house, but I do know what can physically work for your gas stovetop and fireplace. Since you will be supplying the 3/4 inch pipe, I recommend using the MB Sturgis RV Quick-Connect Propane Grill Hose - 120" Long # 100304-120-MBS which will connect to the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Connector - 1/4" FPT # 104052-MBS which in turn connects to the POL # 204051-MBS for your tank. No regulator is needed on the tank side of the system as...

  • Replacement Regulator For GR-630 Regulator That Leaks
I have done some research on the GR-630 and it sounds like the diaphragm inside is damaged so it leaks. I recommend to replace it with MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072. MB Sturgis makes reliable quality regulators. This particular regulator has the same 1/4" inlet and outlet of your existing regulator so it's a direct replacement.

  • High Pressure Regulator Recommendation for RV
We have the 30 PSI high pressure MB Sturgis Regulator part # 108072 which would work well but it is not adjustable. You'd need to verify that 30 psi is the pressure rating you need but this would work well if so. I also attached a review video for this regulator for you to check out as well.

  • Do RVs Use High or Low Pressure Regulators
Most RV propane accessories are actually low pressure and not high pressure like the # 108072 you referenced. If you have something that specifically calls out high pressure this would be the regulator you'd need, but if you are looking for a regulator for general RV use you'd instead want the # 108221 instead.

We do have a 30 psi regulator with a 1/4" inlet and 1/4" outlet, the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator # 108072. According to the installation manual for the Marvin Direct Vent Propane Heaters, the minimum permissible propane gas pressure is 11" WC (water column), which our MB Sturgis Single Stage Regulator # 108072 can supply. If you are connecting the heater directly to your 100-lb tank, then you will also want a pigtail hose # 37207-30865, to go from the tank valve to the regulator and a supply hose with a 1/4" male NPT fitting to connect at the regulator and a 3/8 female NPT fitting to connect...

  • Replacement Single Stage High Pressure Regulator
Yes. You can use regulator # 108072 since it is a high pressure regulator. There should be a second regulator, probably on the opposite side of the trailer, that takes the pressure down further to an 11" water column for use with the accessories that run off of propane.

  • Gas Not Switching to Secondary Tank After Regulator Replacement
A 2-stage propane regulator like part # 108220 is not designed to switch over the gas from one tank to another. In order to switch the flow of gas from one tank to another you would need to use an auto changeover regulator like part # CAM59005. A 2-stage and auto changeover regulator may both look the same but are very different in function. This is likely why the gas is not switching for the empty tank and not a failed secondary regulator like part # 108072.

A fix to this would be to use a MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator # 108072 in lieu of your current regulator as long as long as the new regulator meets the specifications that are required to run your propane appliance. Check your current regulator to make sure you can do the swap. You may need to buy an adapter like # CAM59953 to use your current pigtails.
