Video Transcript for MB Sturgis Propane - Regulators - 108072 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the NB Liturgist single stage propane regulator. This high pressure regulator is used to regulate the gas flow from a propane cylinder down to 30 psi. The inlet and outlet are labeled in and out. They have the quarter inch connector, so quarter inch inlet by quarter inch outlet. Temperature range is negative 20 degree Fahrenheit to positive 120 degrees Fahrenheit. So that's negative 40 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius, positive 55 degrees Celsius.

It's got a nice durable construction to it. Metal construction with protective finishing, so you don't have to worry about rust or corrosion. And when it comes to certification, it is UL144 used for LP gas only. That's going to do it for today's look at the NM Liturgist single stage propane regulator.

Ask the Experts about this MB Sturgis Propane

  • Can Single Stage Regulator Be Used for Both 20 Pound and 100 Pound Propane Tank
A single stage regulator like the MB Sturgis # 108072 you referenced will indeed work on either a 20 pound or 100 pound propane tank. It's important to note though that the regulator type is really dependent on the propane-powered appliance you're using and not necessarily the tank itself. A dual-stage regulator like # 108221 will provide a more constant/consistent pressure for your appliance.

  • Parts for Exterior 100 lb Propane Tank Connection to 3/4 Inch Inlet on House
I don't know the code requirements for your house, but I do know what can physically work for your gas stovetop and fireplace. Since you will be supplying the 3/4 inch pipe, I recommend using the MB Sturgis RV Quick-Connect Propane Grill Hose - 120" Long # 100304-120-MBS which will connect to the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Connector - 1/4" FPT # 104052-MBS which in turn connects to the POL # 204051-MBS for your tank. No regulator is needed on the tank side of the system as...

  • Recommended 11-14 Water Column (WC) Rated Propane Regulator for a Generator
The water column (WC) rating of the Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072 would be far too high for your generator. Instead, you are going to want to use a two-stage regulator like the MB Sturgis Vertical 2-Stage Propane Regulator part # 108220 which will supply between 11-12.5 inches of water column. The two stage regulator would also supply more BTU's for your generator in comparison to a single stage.

  • Is Teflon Tape Needed To Seal the Propane Regulator
Yes, you will want to use some sort of thread sealer like part # LT37482 or pipe tape like part # A05-0265 on the NPT fittings inside of the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072. As a general rule, all NPT fittings should have some sort of thread sealer or pipe tape on them. Not to confuse you but some supply hoses (propane tank to regulator) like part # 100833-12 come with an inverted flare fitting and if that is the case then you would also need part # 402258-MBS...

  • Recommended Regulator for LP Garage Heater
For your 30,000 BTU LP garage heater you will want to use a dual-stage propane regulator. If you need a vertical regulator the MB Sturgis # 108220 will work great or for a horizontal regulator you can use part # 108221. These dual-stage regulators will reduce the tank pressure to 10 psi to stabilize the gas and then reduce it to constant 11" WC for efficient gas flow. I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on these regulators that you can also check out.

  • Replacement Regulator For GR-630 Regulator That Leaks
I have done some research on the GR-630 and it sounds like the diaphragm inside is damaged so it leaks. I recommend to replace it with MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072. MB Sturgis makes reliable quality regulators. This particular regulator has the same 1/4" inlet and outlet of your existing regulator so it's a direct replacement.

  • Do RVs Use High or Low Pressure Regulators
Most RV propane accessories are actually low pressure and not high pressure like the # 108072 you referenced. If you have something that specifically calls out high pressure this would be the regulator you'd need, but if you are looking for a regulator for general RV use you'd instead want the # 108221 instead.

  • Replacement Single Stage High Pressure Regulator
Yes. You can use regulator # 108072 since it is a high pressure regulator. There should be a second regulator, probably on the opposite side of the trailer, that takes the pressure down further to an 11" water column for use with the accessories that run off of propane.

  • Replacement for GR630 Regulator on Fifth Wheel
According to my research, the GR630 regulator has a 1/4" inlet and 1/4" outlet. We do have a 30 psi regulator with a 1/4" inlet and 1/4" outlet, the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator # 108072. This is for LP gas only and has a temperature range of -20 degrees fahrenheit to 120 degrees fahrenheit. I've added a link to a video review of this regulator for you to check out as well.

  • What Would Cause Propane Regulator to Leak in RV Application and What to Do
If you have enough oil in your propane tanks to the point they are starting to leak out of the regulator your best options are to either have the tanks evacuated and cleaned or replace them altogether before replacing the regulator like with the part # 108072 that you referenced.

  • Gas Not Switching to Secondary Tank After Regulator Replacement
A 2-stage propane regulator like part # 108220 is not designed to switch over the gas from one tank to another. In order to switch the flow of gas from one tank to another you would need to use an auto changeover regulator like part # CAM59005. A 2-stage and auto changeover regulator may both look the same but are very different in function. This is likely why the gas is not switching for the empty tank and not a failed secondary regulator like part # 108072.

  • High Pressure Regulator Recommendation for RV
We have the 30 PSI high pressure MB Sturgis Regulator part # 108072 which would work well but it is not adjustable. You'd need to verify that 30 psi is the pressure rating you need but this would work well if so. I also attached a review video for this regulator for you to check out as well.

  • Can a Single Stage Propane Regulator Be Used In Place of a Dual Stage
The MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072 can be used in place of a dual stage regulator so long as the fittings on the end of the leader hose are the same which they should be. I am not sure what you mean by, "Can I swap these out and then have the regulator on the stove come into play" but you only need to have one regulator running from the propane supply to the accessory assuming it reduces the pressure to the correct water column (W.C.) count and has the correct BTU...

The only high pressure regulator we currently carry is the MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator # 108072 with has 30 psig and will deliver that pressure in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This will require adapting to the 1/4 inch inlet and 1/4 inch outlet. Unfortunately we don't carry that 1/2 inch adapter as it is not standard on RV's.

I have heard of this issue before with the High Pressure RV LP Gas Regulator part # 37207-30325. You do want to make sure the regulator is in the vertical position otherwise it's a possibility it could leak. If it is in the vertical position and still leaking, I recommend to replace it with MB Sturgis Single Stage Propane Regulator part # 108072 which is also a 30 PSI regulator with 1/4" female NPT outlet and inlet.

  • Propane System Components on 5th Wheel or Travel Trailer
I believe I understand what you are stating but the issue you are finding is in the location of the regulator and not with the components. The 11 inch water column is what is standard on any 5th wheel, travel trailer, or motorhome after the regulator whether it is a single stage like # CAM59013 or a 2-stage regulator like # CAM59313. This is a low pressure system at any point after that regulator, so if you were to put a regulator in-line prior to the crossover, it would give you an inaccurate...

  • Comparing High and Low Pressure Propane Hoses and Thermoplastic Versus Rubber
Most RV propane systems use a low pressure regulator because the appliances are low pressure. You can check the information stamped into your regulator to determine if it is high or low pressure or offers both. High pressure regulators are usually 30 psi, such as # 108072. Hoses for high pressure systems are built to handle the higher pressure. Many hoses do not specify if they are high or low pressure and can generally be used for either system. What size tank are you running with the Fire Dancer Portable Patio Fire Pit part # FD500? The manufacturer recommends using at least a 20 lb propane tank. If you are using the small 1-2 lb green propane tanks then that is going to be your issue. If you are using the appropriate size tank then you will need to remove the vermiculite and check the metal tube in the bottom which disperses the propane to make sure none of the vermiculite has gotten lodged in and clogged the flow of propane....
