The hose between your RV's propane tank and regulator is exposed every time you access or replace the cylinder. This 24" pigtail adds stainless steel braid to protect the hose from scrapes and other physical damage.
Your pigtail sits between the propane cylinder and regulator, where moving tanks, nearby hardware, and repeated cylinder changes can put the hose in contact with surrounding surfaces. Stainless steel braid protects the hose from abrasion and physical damage while the pigtail carries propane from the cylinder to the regulator.
A damaged hose can release propane rapidly, while a fire can expose the cylinder connection to dangerous heat. Built-in excess-flow protection restricts a sudden propane release, while thermal protection adds another safeguard in the event of a fire.

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at this MEC stainless braided RV propane pigtail hose. So folks, pretty simple stuff, right If you're replacing the hose between your RV's propane cylinder and the regulator, this is that hose that does that connection, with some added protection for a hose that can see quite a bit of wear around your propane tanks, right So a lot of times those tanks are up front on the tongue of the camper. So this braided line gives them a lot more stability from rips, tears, dings, cuts, and whatnot. So you have your standard Acme type one fitting, this is the large thing you'll hand tighten onto the propane tank itself.
The other side, you're going to have a 1/4-inch male inverted flare. This usually connects to a compatible female inverted flare inlet on your propane regulator. So, before you order this, make sure you're double checking your old one and make sure that's 1/4-inch inverted flare that it's going to go into on the regulator. If you need a new regulator, we saw that stuff separately as well. So the fact that this is stainless steel braiding means that this can rub against tanks, it can rub on hardware, it can get hit with stuff, it can get pulled, and it's very, very abrasion resistant, and it's also physically super strong.
Now, if for some reason this we inchesre to get damaged, you have built inside here that you can't see, hose protection, and in the form of excessive flow protection. So it literally restricts the flow to help limit the release of any gases and stuff. So you have thermal protection built into the cylinder connection as well. So right up here. And then of course you have that hose protection as well.
24 inches long, that should give you a lot of flexibility between your cylinder and your regulator. As always, with any connection, whether it's here, or on the regulator, or on your stoves, whatnot, always, always, always please make sure you're using leak detection. Be sure you're checking those connections after you've re-pressurized the system, make sure there's no leaks. Yeah, you can smell it sometimes. Sometimes when you disconnect stuff and reconnect it, you're going to have some residual smell, and you may think you have a leak.
So this leak detection sold separately, item number MEC78TR, comes in a peak liquid with a little applicator. You'll twist it off, wipe some on both sides, and as long as you don't see any bubbles, you should be good to go. So check that out separately. Again, folks, I'm Steven.
