Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Curt Class I and II pin and clip that's 1/2" in diameter, part number F-4. If you have an 1-1/4" hitch and have any hitch-mounted accessories to go with it, whether it be for a Class I or Class II accessory, you're going to need a pin and clip to secure them to your hitch. What's great about this pin and clip is how easy it is to use. With the pistol grip design, it makes it easy for us to insert the pin or remove it when securing our accessories such as this ball mount here. Once we have the pin inserted, we can take our clip, line it up with the pin, push it in place, and that'll secure our pin and our accessory. What sets this pin and clip apart from others on the market is that we have this beveled edge right here to help guide the pin through our holes in our hitch and our accessory. So, if our holes aren't lining up perfectly, this will help push them together, making it go through nice and easily. Also, other ones on the market, the clip goes around the pin.
It doesn't go through it. I find that this is a more secure option and makes it easier to remove the clip or to install it. It'll even work great with a cargo carrier, and just like that, we're hooked to our cargo carrier. It's secured to our vehicle and we're ready to hit the road. Not only does the pin and clip work with our ball mounts and our cargo carriers like this one, but it'll also work our bike racks provided they don't have a threaded hole for an anti-rattle device, which they are kind of rare to see that but they do exist. Just as easy as it is to install, it's just as easy to remove.
We'll simply grasp our clip at the end of it, pull away from our pin, grab our pistol grip of the pin, remove it from our hitch, and then the accessory can slide out.Now for a few measurements of our pin. Our pin has an overall width at its widest points from the tip over here of 4". Our straight pin measurement from where it's straight to our hole where our clip goes through, the usable space that we have is 2-1/2". So what that means is with our 1-1/4" hitch as long as the hitch walls themselves aren't thicker than 2-1/2", we will have plenty of clearance for our pin to go through, securing our accessory to our hitch. Now, when comparing this pin and clip to others, such as the Draw-Tite, part number PC2, this one is a more affordable option and it's slightly easier to use because it has different design where the clip goes through the pin and not around it, and it also has more of a beveled edge, which makes it easier to insert the pin and the accessory in case the hole in the accessory or the hitch aren't centered properly. That completes our look at the Curt Class I and Class II pin and clip that's 1/2" diameter, part number F-4..
