Video Transcript for Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Curt Class I and II pin and clip that's 1/2" in diameter, part number F-4. If you have an 1-1/4" hitch and have any hitch-mounted accessories to go with it, whether it be for a Class I or Class II accessory, you're going to need a pin and clip to secure them to your hitch. What's great about this pin and clip is how easy it is to use. With the pistol grip design, it makes it easy for us to insert the pin or remove it when securing our accessories such as this ball mount here. Once we have the pin inserted, we can take our clip, line it up with the pin, push it in place, and that'll secure our pin and our accessory. What sets this pin and clip apart from others on the market is that we have this beveled edge right here to help guide the pin through our holes in our hitch and our accessory. So, if our holes aren't lining up perfectly, this will help push them together, making it go through nice and easily. Also, other ones on the market, the clip goes around the pin.

It doesn't go through it. I find that this is a more secure option and makes it easier to remove the clip or to install it. It'll even work great with a cargo carrier, and just like that, we're hooked to our cargo carrier. It's secured to our vehicle and we're ready to hit the road. Not only does the pin and clip work with our ball mounts and our cargo carriers like this one, but it'll also work our bike racks provided they don't have a threaded hole for an anti-rattle device, which they are kind of rare to see that but they do exist. Just as easy as it is to install, it's just as easy to remove.

We'll simply grasp our clip at the end of it, pull away from our pin, grab our pistol grip of the pin, remove it from our hitch, and then the accessory can slide out.Now for a few measurements of our pin. Our pin has an overall width at its widest points from the tip over here of 4". Our straight pin measurement from where it's straight to our hole where our clip goes through, the usable space that we have is 2-1/2". So what that means is with our 1-1/4" hitch as long as the hitch walls themselves aren't thicker than 2-1/2", we will have plenty of clearance for our pin to go through, securing our accessory to our hitch. Now, when comparing this pin and clip to others, such as the Draw-Tite, part number PC2, this one is a more affordable option and it's slightly easier to use because it has different design where the clip goes through the pin and not around it, and it also has more of a beveled edge, which makes it easier to insert the pin and the accessory in case the hole in the accessory or the hitch aren't centered properly. That completes our look at the Curt Class I and Class II pin and clip that's 1/2" diameter, part number F-4..

Great product, tho directions called for 19mm socket (actually uses 18mm socket). Installed in my driveway using common tools, and drove the rear wheels up on some blocks of wood to get a couple extra inches of space to work. I loved the 'fishing wires' that came with to get the bolts and spacers through the holes - how clever! 876945

Ask the Experts about this Curt Hitch Pins and Clips

  • Recommended Hitch Pin for 1-1/4" Class II Receiver
It sounds like you're looking for a hitch pin for a 1/2" diameter as opposed to a 5/8" diameter; typically a 1/2" diameter hitch pin is designed to be used on a 1-1/4" hitch receiver. If you just need a hitch pin you can use the Curt # F-4. If you're looking for a locking hitch pin to keep your VersaHaul Carrier attached to your vehicle, you can use the etrailer # e98879. Both of these hitch pins are designed for 1-1/4" Class I or II hitch receivers. If you can tell me what vehicle you're...

We do have a trailer hitch receiver that fits your 2003 Honda Civic, but it isn't the model you mentioned. Instead, your '03 Civic will need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11204. Since you mentioned towing you will also need a wiring harness, ball mount/drawbar, pin & clip, and hitch ball. The correct parts for your Civic are: - Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56341 - Curt Drawbar # C45521 - Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip # F-4 - 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # A-80 or 2"...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit for 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg
We do have a trailer hitch receiver that fits your 2007 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg, so long as it is the 4-door sedan and it does not have the diesel engine. If your '07 Jetta Wolfsburg meets those specs the correct trailer hitch fit is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11474. I confirmed this fit for you with the manufacturer, and if you plan on doing some towing with your Jetta, there are a few other parts you'll need: - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118667 - Curt Drawbar # C45520 -...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessories for 2003 Mercedes C240 Wagon
We do indeed have a Class I hitch available for your 2003 Mercedes C240 Wagon, part # C11824. If you'll be using the hitch for light duty towing purposes, the hitch has a 2500 lb towing/ 250 lb tongue weight capacity. You'll want to check with Mercedes/Benz or your owner's manual to determine the actual towing capacity of your Wagon, and not exceed whichever capacity is lowest. In order to tow with the hitch, you'll need the following items, which aren't sold in kit form but are available...

  • Why Does my 2 Inch Hitch have a 1/2 in Pin Hole and a 5/8 in Pin hole
The Curt Pin and Clip # F-4 that you referenced is designed to work on 1-1/4 inch hitches. The reason your hitch has a 1/2 inch hole and a 5/8 inch hole is because it is setup for an anti-rattle device like the Draw Tite J-Pin # 63201. I attached a picture of this device being used on a hitch like yours for you to check out. I also attached a review video for this product for you to check out also. This 1/2 inch hole is not designed to be use as a hitch pin hole, you will want to use...

  • Best 1/2 Inch Hitch Pin that is Long Enough to Fit a 2 Inch Hitch Receiver
Is there a threaded nut inside the shank of the bike rack? My guess is that is the case. I would need to know the bike rack manufacturer and the model though the model is not as important as the manufacturer. If you can tell me that information I can determine if we have the proper threaded hitch bolt for that rack. If it does not have a threaded hitch pin hole and the issue is length you can use the Curt Clevin Pin with Handle # C45805. This pin has a 6-7/8 inch usable span so it is...

For a compatible trailer hitch for your 2013 Ford Mustang I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24863. The recommended ball mount is # 3594. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256. If you ever need a 2 inch ball use # 19258. For trailer wiring you can use # 118487. Motorcycle trailers typically are designed with separate brake and turn signal lights. For a 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid sedan, the trailer hitch receiver I can confirm fits is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11474. I'm not 100 percent sure what you mean by "latch pin or something" but I am assuming you mean a pin and clip, and we do have one that is 1/2" diameter and 4" long, the Curt Class I and II Pin and Clip # F-4. This pin and clip is a total of 4" long overall with a 2-1/2" long straight pin. The 1/2" diameter is standard for a hitch pin and clip for a 1-1/4" receiver so the straight part of these is not going to be as long. If you were looking for a hitch lock the longest with a 1/2"...

  • Can Hole be Drilled in Trailer Hitch to Align With Ball Mount
I do not recommend drilling a hole in a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite # 76154 that fits a 2019 Nissan Titan as not only will this void the warranty but hitches have not been tested to be used after modification. A Class III, 2" hitch like the Draw-Tite is designed to be used with a 5/8" diameter pin and clip such as # PC3, while a 1-1/4" hitch will use a 1/2" diameter pin and clip like # F-4.

I checked your order notes and it looks like you ordered the Curt Ball Mount part # C45503 and the hitch ball part # A-82. • Does My 2020 RAM 3500 Have Non-Standard Hitch Pin?
We have never seen an 1/2" diameter hitch pin on a 2-1/2" receiver. They all have 5/8" standard. We only see the 1/2" pins on the small 1-1/4" receivers. I would measure your hitch pin carefully. Is it possible that everything is 5/8" but just has a loose fit? Hitch parts do not have tight tolerances and tend to wiggle and rattle a little. Most likely your setup is just fine.If the rattling becomes annoying you can always add a Trailer Hitch Anti-Rattle Kit for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches,...
