Straight out of the box looks and feels great. Fits nice and snug inside the 2" Curt hitch receiver. Too early to comment on service life and durability under wet weather conditions but hope for good desired outcome.

No issues after a year of use and exposure to rain and frequent car wash treatments. Thanks for checking and you are welcome

Most will never believe this, but i ordered this locking pin to use in conjunction with the other pin that is the exact same as this one. Except the 1st pin has been installed and in service since late 2009. I used it to hold a hitch in the receiver tube of my motorhome that coupled our hauler trailer to the motorhome. I recently decided we would start flat towing a car, instead of the hauler trailer with the expedition on it.
so i needed one more locking hitch pin to use with the tow bar rise/drop receiver adapter. When i removed the first pin, i expected it to be rusty and not unlockable. SURPRISE, a little wd 40 in the key hole to aid in key insertion and BAM she unlocked and was clean as a whistle.
it was a no brainer to order an exact duplicate for use now.

still works perfect

Great product and great service. Somehow this part was not received in the initial order. etrailer sent me an email checking up on the delivery (nice service) and I let them know what happened and after a few questions, they immediately sent me a replacement.

I am very impressed with their service! I highly recommend etrailer!!

I wanted a Lock that was easy to use, and impossible to make a mistake that could leave it unlatched. After using it for a year, this lock does both, and was not expensive.
It is easy to use by actually turning the pin, and holding the key still, rather than trying to turn the key. And you know for sure it is properly latched because the lock end closes up to the side of the receiver

I purchased this to replace a similar locking pin that had begun to show wear after 15 years of rigorous towing. I believe this pin is well made and will last another 15 years.

this trailer lock fits a 2x2 hitch perfectly. I like the turn key style to prevent picking the lock. The cap that covers key lock fits snug. I just got it and like it. I hope it holds up well

Have bought a second pair due to the quality of it. Have used it to travel half the country without any issues. During my second pair for another hitch, I incurred an issue in getting the correct one but the customer service was there each time to resolve the problem and in a timely manner!

The first time I used this it came apart and fell out of the hitch receiver. I had locked it and tested it but after 200 miles or so, it had come apart and fell out. I am very lucky that my trailer did not go flying down the road, it was close to coming off of the car though. So glad that I checked it at a gas stop.

Doesn't fit 2021 Tundra 2" receiver as it's too short and locking mechanism won't engage. However it does fit our 03 Tacoma so I'll keep it.

For the Toyota Tacoma with has a thicker 2 inch OEM receiver, I recommend part # e98881 which has a 3.62 inch span.

My husband is a proud Bluewater Vietnam Navy Veteran, celebrating his 50th year anniversary of coming home. My husband is retired & I decided to get a trailer hitchcover for his old truck, to compliment his combat veteran's license plate.
While searching for a unique, eye catching hitchcover, I came across The cover I chose is eye catching, unique & a sturdy heavy plastic. It was easy to install & the lock, purchased with it, will keep it in place!
He loved the cover - and the price! PS: Still young at heart!

The items that I ordered from etrailer arrive very quickly and were exactly what I needed. Customer service gets an AAA rating. Items are of good quality and look great on my new 2022 Ford Explorer ST!

Perfect product! It does exactly as described. And the folks at etrailer are always very helpful!

Well, the pin looks great. It appears to be just as advertised, however. I ran into a problem in that I had ordered two pins to be keyed alike, but they are not. Stuff like that could happen anywhere. I got on the phone with etrailer and they are sending me a replacement. In my view, that is the mark of a great vendor to work with.

Well not quite a year, actually only a few days. A correctly keyed pin arrived today, I now have two pins that work with the same key. They work great with my Gen-Y hitch. As I anticipated in my prior review, etrailer promptly made things right. Getting both pins keyed the same is convenient. Between bike racks, tonneau cover, camper, racks, and one or two extras, I have a bunch of keys. Every key I can eliminate is a win.

Easy Install with a clean look.

Good quality metal construction, good fit through hitch. Key insert does not jam with a little silicone lubricant as protection. Easy to lock and unlock

Still very satisfied with hitch lock. Very well made. Holds up well to road grime. Still easy to unlock and remove and re and lock to change out hitch covers.

Everything worked out well. On time and fits perfect. Attach hitch setup and my new Ridgeline.
It comes with a 2" inch receiver and I have a full compliment of 1.25. stuff from my previous car. All from etrailer i must admit!
so I needed the 2-1.25 reducer, a good lock, and the 7-4 reducer for my goodies!
Thanks for the grest service

great it is used a lot

It’s great my truck well made

This seems like a serviceable product but the bike rack I ordered with it unexpectedly included a better version of the same item that was also keyed to the rack. Thus I knew without opening the package that I did not need this lock. To my great frustration, eTrailer told me could only return it if I paid a $XX shipping fee for this small 12 oz item, leaving me with $X back.
So, it looks good it you need it but it's pretty frustrating if you don't.

A great Hitch lock. Added it to my fleet and they matched it to my existing key.

I really like my trailer hitch lock. It is well made. It holds my Texas hitch cover in place. It fits perfectly.

Impressive locking bolt! This item meets and exceeds my initial impressions and security requirements for a sound and secure locking pin. Let’s get it on the road and see how she runs! Kudos to Jessie at etrailer customer service for making this purchase recommendation- what a breeze!

The lock looked exactly as described and was super easy to install to my hitch. I would highly recommend it. The customer service that I received from Etrailer was exceptional.

Great Product, now I can take my Bicycles and Boat, Hitch works Great.
Thank You etrailer.

Hello, I was installing this lock to lock my also ordered Steelers hitch but it seems to be just short to lock securely. I’ve attached a picture of my hitch. Pls advise

No complaints. Product is as advertised (purchased 2 of the same). One minor point - charges for "keyed alike" were minor - however only one set of keys had to be changed, to match the first lock - so charges should have been only 1 charge for the 'keyed alike'

  • How to Remove the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock Part # e98880
The Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock part # e98880 is threaded on the end where the lock is located. Once the key has been inserted into the locking cylinder you will then need to rotate it counterclockwise until the threaded section is no longer attached. You may need to hold the opposite end of the lock to help keep it from spinning with the locking core. You can see this process done in the video I have attached for you.

  • How To Measure For Hitch Receiver Lock Pin Span
The span you refer to on the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # e98880 is the usable length of the pin. To properly measure for this, you can measure the outside walls of your hitch at the pin hole. If you measured, and got 2-5/8", you'd need a hitch pin with at least a span of 2-5/8" like # e98880,. Additionally, you'd need to measure the diameter of the pin hole, so you can choose the correct diameter pin as well. Usually class I and II hitches have a 1/2" diameter...

  • What Differences Between etrailer Locking Hitch Pin e98880 and e98882
There's not really a reason other than personal preference between the chrome finish # e98880 and the stainless steel # e98882; I happen to prefer the stainless steel option but the chrome does give you a bit nicer finish on the lock which is important to some users. Both locks will do a great job of fighting off corrosion and they can both be keyed alike to other etrailer locks.

Technically, chrome is harder than stainless steel but it isn't going to be a difference between stopping a thief or not stopping one. There aren't specific alloys for the pins and locks, they are made of steel (though all steel is technically an alloy, of course).
