Impressive locking bolt! This item meets and exceeds my initial impressions and security requirements for a sound and secure locking pin. Let’s get it on the road and see how she runs! Kudos to Jessie at etrailer customer service for making this purchase recommendation- what a breeze!

Most will never believe this, but i ordered this locking pin to use in conjunction with the other pin that is the exact same as this one. Except the 1st pin has been installed and in service since late 2009. I used it to hold a hitch in the receiver tube of my motorhome that coupled our hauler trailer to the motorhome. I recently decided we would start flat towing a car, instead of the hauler trailer with the expedition on it. so i needed one more locking hitch pin to use with the tow bar rise/drop receiver adapter. When i removed the first pin, i expected it to be rusty and not unlockable. SURPRISE, a little wd 40 in the key hole to aid in key insertion and BAM she unlocked and was clean as a whistle. it was a no brainer to order an exact duplicate for use now.

I've used these over a year for several multi-month long trips to secure a front hitch fora spare tire and for a supertruss mounted hitch extention on my truck when pulling trailers with my truck camper mounted. They've been used across off road desert and Northern winter roads with sand and salt. The locks fit snug and still easily spin to lock and unlock. It is great to have only one key for four locks!

Hello, I was installing this lock to lock my also ordered Steelers hitch but it seems to be just short to lock securely. I’ve attached a picture of my hitch. Pls advise

I've had two of these locks and are on a summer rig, work great, no problems so far.

This is another well-made product. Unfortunately, the 2 5/8” span is not enough for the factory units on a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma. Another 5/16” is needed for the lock to catch. Score one for the manufacturer. Still…4 stars for a well-made receiver lock although it can’t be used on my Taco.

Straight out of the box looks and feels great. Fits nice and snug inside the 2" Curt hitch receiver. Too early to comment on service life and durability under wet weather conditions but hope for good desired outcome.

Tammie P. is the best We discussed my needs for a new lock and it was no problem at all.I needed another lock keyed as my other one's and got exactly what I needed. Great product ,sturdy ,easy to use. I've had two other ones for about a year and they work well and look great. I know I will be using these for years to come, hassle free and would recommend this lock pin for sure. Thanks Tammie, Great Job

My husband is a proud Bluewater Vietnam Navy Veteran, celebrating his 50th year anniversary of coming home. My husband is retired & I decided to get a trailer hitchcover for his old truck, to compliment his combat veteran's license plate. While searching for a unique, eye catching hitchcover, I came across etrailer.com. The cover I chose is eye catching, unique & a sturdy heavy plastic. It was easy to install & the lock, purchased with it, will keep it in place! He loved the cover - and the price! PS: Still young at heart!

One year later after being installed in all kinds of weather including Florida salty air and the lock still works easily and there is no corrosion on the metal. I do squirt some WD-40 into the lock slot twice a year.

I mistakenly ordered the wrong length receiver lock, a phone call to etrailer customer service made it very easy to exchange the wrong lock for the right one. etrailer customer service is the best.

Everything worked out well. On time and fits perfect. Attach hitch setup and my new Ridgeline. It comes with a 2" inch receiver and I have a full compliment of 1.25. stuff from my previous car. All from etrailer i must admit! so I needed the 2-1.25 reducer, a good lock, and the 7-4 reducer for my goodies! Thanks for the grest service

Not sure what to say about this product, it seems to be a great quality but did not perform as needed. If you want a lock that you put on and never ever need to take it off, than this is the product or you. I bought the 2 pack matching keyed alike, 1 for the bumper of my 5th wheel and 1 for the bumper of my truck, I ended up buying a new 5th wheel so I went to take if off but the key would not work. I ended up cutting it off so I could take the receiver off my old 5th wheel. I tried numerous time to take it off the truck but still not able to. Disappointing!

- e98880
by:

Works great. I keep it installed always to protect both my hitch and my trailer. I had all the keys coordinated between all my locking devices which makes it super convenient when connecting/disconnecting the trailer. Love the fact that most products have videos. Very helpful in choosing the correct product.

Great locks and the keyed alike feature helps me tremendously—fewer keys to carry!

I really like my trailer hitch lock. It is well made. It holds my Texas hitch cover in place. It fits perfectly.

- e98880

Works great stands up to the road applied in winter.

- e98880
by:

They work great. Much better than the normal key locking type. Insert the key and the end knob turns rather than having to turn the key and try to get it into the exact position to unlock or relook

- e98880
by:

Honestly, this is a tough lock to work with. If your key is on a key ring, like mine then you have to bend down and flip all your keys round and around to unscrew the lock. Then in putting it back you have to align the two pieces, hold them and turn your cluttered key ring round and round again till the threads catch and you screw it back together.

- e98880
by:

Installed the receiver lock on my Class IV Ram 1500. Fits perfectly, feels and looks quality. The key lock in nice with the rubber cap. I would recommend to anyone wanting a quality hitch lock.

This hitch lock works perfectly. It has survived a very cold and snowy winter here in Connecticut. I can't say enough about it!

Ask the Experts about this etrailer Trailer Hitch Lock

  • Does Hitch Pin Lock Have a Normal Use
There is not necessarily a specific lifespan that can be counted on with hitch lock like your Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # BX8858. If it gets used heavily and a lot of stress on it then a lock can wear down quicker than those that are used somewhat sparingly, but less than a year old is not a lot of time for the issues you are having. There are hitch locks for a 2" hitch that have warranties, such as the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 and Bulldog Lifelong...
