Haven’t installed it yet but the welds appear super thick and the unit is HEAVY. I’m impressed so far.

by:

Good solid hitch great shipping

by:

The hitch looks good. It is what I ordered. Two Days! I have to say that I will definitely be recommending etrailer if it comes up.

by:

Good quality

by:

Other than getting most of the paint knocked off of this while in shipping from a loose ball inside the shipping box, it's a very impressive drawbar. The solid square bar that goes inside the receiver makes this much better than any 2" drawbar I've ever had. This thing is seriously heavy! I might not even keep this in the car until it's needed. With the ball, it weighs about as much as my small toolbag

by:

Very handy for getting a level hookup with aftermarket hitch kits, which often put the receiver far too low. The 5-1/2" rise is just right to pull U-Haul and Home Depot trailers behind my Audi A6 sedan, and the extended tongue clears the bumper with room to spare. This unit is extremely ruggedly built, with nice fat welds and a sturdy reinforcing gusset, and the anti-rattle feature works perfectly.

by:

right on the money

Just as described!

  • Will 1-1/4 Inch Ball Mount With 5-1/2 Inch Rise Work if 5 Inches of Rise is Needed
That's a good question, and you did indeed measure correctly, from flat ground to the top of your hitch receiver. Since that measurement is 10 inches and your trailer coupler is 15 inches, 5 inches is the correct rise, but an extra half-inch is absolutely acceptable, so you can use the Brophy ball mount: - Brophy Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5-1/2" Rise, 6" Drop # BM96 As long as you're within about an inch or so of being level you won't have any issues at all when towing. So the # BM96...

  • Recommendations to Tow a Trailer Level with a 2011 Mazda 3
Brophy ball mount # BM96 has a 5-1/2 inch rise so that will get you 1/2 inch closer. You would not add the height of the ball though because the coupler on the trailer covers the ball so the ball height is a non-factor. The only other thing you can do is lower the height of the trailer. If you do think lowering the trailer in the back is the way to go then you may be able to use an over/under conversion kit if: The trailer leaf spring stack is currently mounted above the axles The trailer...

  • What do I Need Besides the Hitch to Tow a Trailer with my 2001 Honda Civic
Yes you will need a ball mount and ball to go with your Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11204 to attach it to a trailer. The Brophy Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches part # BM96 will give you 5 1/2" of rise which you will need and you will attach either part # 19258 for a 2" ball or part # 19256 for a 1 7/8". For a pin and clip use part # PC2. You will also need wiring for the trailer's lights. the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56341 will...

  • How To Pick The Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for a 2006 Ford Explorer
I attached an FAQ article on how to pick out the correct ball mount for your application for you to check out. Basically you will take your trailer on a level surface and measure from the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler. Next, you will compute the difference between the hitch height and the trailer coupler height. Whatever the difference is will be the drop that you will need in a ball mount. So if your hitch is 6 inches taller than the bottom of your coupler...

  • Recommended Euro Style Drawbar with 7 Rise
I may have a solution for you, but we don't have any Euro style drawbars with a 7" rise and after doing some digging I'm not quite sure they are available that tall . With that said, you may be able to use the Curt # C45591 which has a 5-1/8" rise. This would be the closest solution to the 7" you're looking for. If you were willing to use a non-Euro style draw bar, you could use the Brophy # BM96, which has a 5" rise from the top of the shank to the top of the ball mount platform. You...

The highest rise for a 1-1/4" ball mount we have available is 5-1/2", like with the Brophy # BM96. I know this isn't going to provide the perfect setup, but as long as you get within 1/2 to 1" or so of level, you shouldn't feel any negative affects when towing. There unfortunately just isn't a large variety of options when it comes to ball mounts for the smaller hitch receiver. • Choosing a Ball Mount For a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Receiver
You mentioned a 1 inch shank size for a ball mount, and the industry standard sizes are 1-1/4 inch, 2 inch, or 2-1/2 inch. The 1-1/4 inch ball mounts come in a variety of rise and drop options to allow you to safely tow a trailer level. I've attached a link for you to see all your options. • Ways to Steady Bike Rack Mounted on Ball Mount
A 1-1/4-inch hitch can be either a Class I or a Class II type. Your hitch should have a sticker that tells you which you have. In our Class I ball mounts the most rise is indeed 5-3/8-inches, with Curt ball mount # C45028. For a Class II ball mount the most rise, 5-1/2-inches, comes from Brophy ball mount # BM96. A ball mount with more rise will tend to wobble more than one without rise since the actual weight load on the hitch is moved further away by that rise. You can help immobilize...

  • Long Ball Mount for Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

However, it only provides 3-7/8 inches of rise and cannot be used in the drop position. Much less than the Brophy # BM96 you have. It does have the same 3/4 inch ball hole diameter as the Brophy. • Locking Hitch Pin Recommendation for Brophy 1-1/4" Drawbar
To replace your anti-rattle hitch bolt you're using with the Brophy Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches # BM96 I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98879. I really like this lock because the barrel threads onto the pin so it's harder to break into, plus the cap does an amazing job at keeping dust out of the mechanism. If you'd still like to have some anti-rattle integrated into your towing setup then I recommend also using the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches...
