Double-Duty Corrosion Resistance

A close-up view of the etrailer ball mount inserted in the hitch receiver

Most ball mounts have just 1 layer of paint or powder coat to protect them from the outside world. Scratch this away after towing just a couple times, and the raw metal underneath will start to rust before you know it. Some folks take pride in that rusty, worn-in look. After all, rust is proof that you've had plenty of road-worn adventures.

But we prefer something that works hard and looks like it's barely broken a sweat. That's why we added a layer of e-coat underneath the matte black powder coat to give you an extra layer of rust protection. So while others might be driving around with a flaking, rusted-out hitch, yours will be looking great for the long haul.

Quick Tip: As for the hitch ball itself, if you really want to make sure that black nickel stays looking fresh for longer, we suggest greasing it up before you tow.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2025 Chevrolet Trax
Hi Oscar; for your 2025 Chevy Trax I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C75VV. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. It has a max gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. If you plan on towing you will also need wiring and a ball mount. For wiring you need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C93ZV. This plugs into the connection points behind your tail lights and will provide you with a 4-way to...

  • Questions About Trailer Hitch For 2014 Mini Countryman
Hey Robin, thanks for reaching out. I can definitely help with any questions you may have. First, we have two trailer hitch option for your 2014 Mini Countryman, the M7 Speed MINI Ultimate Utility Hitch Receiver # 327-60-160200, and the Curt # C11333. The main difference being the M7 will use the "pop out squares" you mentioned to mount the hitch, while the Curt installs completely behind the bumper. The Curt hitch does have a higher towing capacity than the M7, but the M7 will be much...

  • Ball Mount For 2023 Buick Encore GX Towing Malone XtraLight Trailer MPG526G-S
Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out. For the ball mount, we do want to be sure the ball size and receiver size are correct, but we also want to make sure the about of drop is appropriate for your trailer. This way the trailer will be level when you tow. The trailer hitch on a 2023 Buick Encore will be about 12" from the ground. The # C45582 ball mount has 3-1/4" of drop so this will put your pall height around 8-3/4" which is honestly pretty low. Most trailers have a coupler height of...

  • Recommended Ball Mount for a 2011 Toyota Prius
Hey Michael thanks for the question. We do indeed carry ball mounts and bike racks that will work with your 2011 Toyota Prius. It sounds like you already have a hitch but what I am going to need you to do is measure the square receiver you referenced. It will either be 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" or 2" x 2". This measurement will determine what size ball mount and bike rack you will need. I have listed both options below; 1-1/4" Receiver - etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball item # e47DR 2"...

  • Which Trailer Hitch Fits 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited
Hey Jim! For a hitch that fits your 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited I recommend the Curt # C23RV. It fits all models of the 2021 Sonata with the exception of the N-Line and hybrid. This Class I hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver, bolt-on installation, and lifetime warranty. Do you plan on towing? If so, you will also need wiring # TK97FR along with a ball mount like the etrailer Ball Mount # e47DR.

  • Trailer Hitch For Towing Small Kayak Trailer With 2014 Honda Accord
Hello Leo, thanks for reaching out. You are looking for a hitch for a 2014 Honda Accord, correct? If so, the Curt Class 1 Hitch # C11681 is exactly the right hitch. It has a 2,000 lb towing capacity so more than enough for your small kayak trailer. As you intend to tow a trailer, you will also need to install the Curt T-Connector # C59236. You will also need a ball mount, and for that I recommend part # e47DR which comes with a 2" ball.

  • Recommended Hitch and Wiring Harness for a 2013 Infiniti G37 Journey Coupe
Hey Jeff! To add a hitch to your 2013 Infiniti G37 Journey Coupe, you will need the Curt item # C11493. This is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver that is custom fit for the coupe models. It has a 1,500 lbs towing capacity and a 150 lbs maximum tongue weight. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this hitch set up. For a wiring harness, you'll want the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness item # HM11140825. This custom-fit T-connector plugs...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2025 Kia K5
Hey Vincent. As of 5/8/2025 there are no plug in wiring harnesses for a 2025 Kia K5. The only option I have today is the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit item # 119250KIT. This kit uses sensors that clamp onto your K5's taillights without splicing into them. The sensors detect the current and activate your trailer's lights through the 4-way connector. Here are some other parts you'll need to tow a trailer with your 2025...

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2024 Honda Accord
No, it wouldn't. Your 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport L has a 1,500 lbs towing capacity. You could easily stay below this with the right trailer while only hauling a 500 lbs motorcycle. Additionally, adding a hitch to your car does not void your warranty as you are covered by the Magnuson-Moss warranty act. It states that unless the part added actually causes a problem, then installation and use of the part will not void the warranty. The best hitch for your 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Sport...

  • Why Does the Curt Hitch for a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Say Not Intended?
Hey Abel! The Curt Hitch item # C92UR will fit the hybrid model of the 2025 Honda Civic, but there's an extra step when installing it. You have to do some trimming of the bumper area to accommodate the 1-1/4" receiver. That's why it says it isn't intended. The Curt Hitch item # C92UR is custom fit for the 2025 Honda Civic hatchback and sedan. This is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity and 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. I have linked an installation...

  • Can a 2003 Toyota Corolla be Used to Carry a Mobility Scooter?
Hey Demetrius, thanks for reaching out! We have some parts you can use to tow a trailer for your mobility scooter, but you'll need to use a trailer to do so since the Curt # C11265 is the only trailer hitch that fits your vehicle and it has a Class I rating which means it can only handle a max of 200 lbs tongue weight - which your mobility scooter and carrier will exceed. If you do decide to go this route, then you'll also need Wiring # 55542 and a ball mount kit like part # e47DR. Please...

No, and neither is your Focus. I'm not sure which model your 2011 Ford Focus is but none of them have a towing capacity over 2,000 lbs unless yours has a diesel engine. The Curt Hitch item # C11319 is a class I hitch which means it tops out at 2,000 lbs. The only other hitch available is the Draw-Tite item # 24805 but it's got the same specs. Since you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # 56014 and a ball mount kit item # e47DR. If you have any additional...

  • Do You Have a Tow Loop Ball Mount that Fits a 1-1/4" Receiver?
No, I am sorry Tom we do not have a tow loop ball mount that fits a 1-1/4" receiver. The best option I can offer is a ballmount like the etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball item # e47DR. I would be reluctant to use your Mustang's hitch as a recovery point though. That hitch may not be capable of supporting the weight of your vehicle. Without knowing your year I can't say for certain but a class I 1-1/4" hitch only has a 2,000 lbs capacity.

  • Can a Roof Top Tent Be Carried on a 2022 Kia K5
Thanks for reaching out, Ashten! The only roof racks that fit your 2022 Kia K5 use the clamps like what we see with the Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # Y47QB. Since roof top tents shouldn't be used on roof racks that use this style of mounting, you'll need to use a "roof rack trailer" in order to accomplish this. If you're open to this (and your owner's manual says it's okay to tow a trailer) then here are the parts I recommend: - Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C58JR - T-One...

  • Will The Draw-Tite Hitch DT68GR For 2021 Acura TLX Be Able To Tow A Jet Ski?
Hello Henry, thanks for getting in touch. The Draw-Tite Class 1 Hitch # DT68GR for the 2021 Acura TLX has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. Most jet skis weigh like 300-900 lbs max so the hitch can easily tow a small trailer and a jet ski. As long as the combined weight of the trailer and the jet ski is less than 2,000 lbs you will be good to go. Since you plan to tow a trailer you will also need the Curt T-Connector # C45RV. • Has Anyone Towed Jet Ski With Toyota Avaolon Using Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver
Hi Aj; I can't say for sure if anyone has ever used the # 24870 to tow a jet ski with a Toyota Avalon but it may be possible depending on how much it weighs and the towing capacity of your vehicle. The hitch has a capacity of 2,000 lbs. It looks like that jet ski weighs 800-1,000 lbs. Your typical jet ski trailer probably won't weight more than 300 lbs so that keeps you well under the capacity of the hitch. The only thing left to do is to find your vehicle towing capacity and make sure...

  • Will etrailer Ball Mount e47DR Work With Draw-Tite Hitch On 2011 Mazda 3 Hatchback
Hello Danny, thanks for reaching out. The etrailer Ball Mount # e47DR is a great option for your 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback, and it will work with the Draw-Tite hitch you mentioned. This ball mount has 3-7/8" of rise, which should put your hitch ball at about 12" from the ground. We do want to make sure your trailer will be level when you tow, so please check the coupler height of your trailer, and make sure the 12" ball height will allow the trailer to tow level. We do have options with...
