I ordered a bulldog coupler, the company called and offered a different model of the same thing and this is what they sent. It does not fit the lock I bought for the bulldog one I originally ordered and I didn’t discover that until after it was welded on. It also took me two years to get to it so it is not returnable(the lock). And as far as I can tell they do not make locks for these couplers at least not good ones

The only thing I would suggest on this product is putting a much much much heavier chain on the clasp or cable. Perhaps the light duty chain broke within the first few days, and I had to use a piece of para cord which I’ve been using ever since to keep it from getting lost otherwise I am exceptionally happy with this. It is performed as expected.

I haven't installed it yet, looks good has appropriate heft, good dry fit to the trailer tongue. Shipping was very quick.

Good quality and price.

Doesn't fit very tight on the ball, I should have bought the adjustable style.

So very nice to deal with people that have knowledge of their own products and are happy to serve you.

great quality great price

Was a little skeptical at first but this is a heavy duty trailer hitch. I have finished building my trailer and the latching mechanism works great and it was easy to install. This product is just as good if not better than Bulldog and at a lot nicer price. You can't go wrong with this one.

Larry S.

Its been a year and I love my hitch no problems whatsoever I have pulled this thing everywhere and not a single flaw you wont go wrong with this one.

Haven't installed but looks heavy duty and well made.

Awesome replacement for the hitch that was on our cargo trailer when purchased. We like the more sure and easier coupling with this style hitch.

Delbert C.

Hitch has proved to be a great purchase.

Just what I was looking for and arrived a day earlier than expected!!!

Great job! Product was great and shipping was fast!

Just what I ask for and shipping was great. Will be back soon.

This hitch came in in record time and was better than the original hitch that came on the trailer.

David A.

its still better than the original

I switch all of my couplers to the bulldog couplers . They’re some of the best around! Fast shipping as usual!

Loved the personal service and the help. I tried a few other sources before going online to order from etrailer. One place I tried was an online tool dealer, and their online site was a mess without help and so was a retail location. etrailer, was quick to find me exactly what I needed and got me fixed up in just a few minutes. From now on all my trailer needs will be fulfilled from etrailer!!!

I really like this product, because it connects simple and easy! Also, it's well designed, durable, and extremely strong! I have one on my other trailer which was installed by the manufacturer. This lead me to find the same replacement for my current trailer repair, where the inferior style of the thin pressed sheet metal wore and pressed the 2" ball up through the top of the capture sphere. If practical, my advice is to consider upgrading the two steel spars from 3" to 4". As this provides more surface area for the connecting weld bead. As a practical disclaimer. Please consult a structural engineer who is knowledgeable in weights and balances and DOT trailer standards. Stay Safe!

Solid coupler very secure connection to vehicle. Will probably try and use this type from now on if I can

Works great very secure couple

Everything is good super fast and easy berry berry good

Great company to order from. Super easy web site . Large inventory of trailer parts. Fast shipping and correct parts shipped. Packaging for shipment is awesome, never had anything damaged in transit. Highly recommend them to anyone. Pricing is very good as well.

Works great. Fits perfect, easy install. Durable product. Have changed all my trailers to this coupler. Highly recommend.

I think it is far superior to other styles of trailer couplings.

The hitch was a great value for the price. I think next time I'll spend a little more and get a hitch that isn't quite so crudely made.

Fitment was good. I welded and bolted it on. It’s very solid and has worked well for me the past year.

Great product. Have one on all five of my trailers. Sturdy and well built. Fits perfectly and easy to install.

  • Is Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5196-B Designed for Weld On 50 Degree A-Frames
Yes, the Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5196-B that you referenced is a weld-on coupler designed to fit 50 degree A-frame trailers like you mentioned. Nearly all A-frame trailers are 50 degree so it's hard to find A-frame couplers that are designed for a different angle.

  • Determining True Capacity of Trailer When Title and Coupler List Different Limits
A trailer is always going to be limited by its weakest component. This means that even if everything else on the trailer (axle, hubs, wheels, suspension, etc) is rated for 7,000 pounds, you will still need to adhere to the 5,000 pound limit on the coupler. I'm not really sure why a trailer manufacturer would install a lower rated coupler on a trailer. It's also possible that it wasn't the manufacturer but a previous owner who needed to replace the coupler and simply didn't pay close enough...

  • Extended A-Frame Coupler with 2 Inch Ball for a Casita Travel Trailer
Yes, there are trailer couplers that have a greater distance between the center of the coupler where the ball sits to the center of the jack tube hole. However, this is not really by design for this exact purpose and I am not sure it would get you the extra clearance you need to lower your tailgate without hitting the tongue jack. The best option for this is an extended ball mount like you are using now. That said, the Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler part # CA-5196-B will provide...

  • Replacement for Shelby 5107 A-Frame Trailer Coupler
Based on my research the Shelby 5107 coupler looks to be an A-frame coupler that accepts a 2" ball, though I was unable to find the weight capacity as this seems to be an older coupler. For a replacement coupler there are a couple different options, depending on the weight capacity you require. These are bolt-on A-frame couplers that accept a 2" ball: - 5,000 lbs: A-Frame Coupler with Black Paint Finish # CA5100B - 7,000 lbs: Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler - Flip Latch # CA-5196-B

  • Does BlayLock Coupler Lock # BLTL-22 Fit 2003 Ram Collar Lock Style Coupler
Yes, the BlayLock Coupler Lock part # BLTL-22 does fit your Ram coupler jack that is a collar lock style like the # CA-5196-B. Your Ram coupler and the # CA-5196-B are the same as they are both made by same company.

  • Replacement EZ Use Coupler For Horse Trailer With 2" Sleeve Lock Coupler
I recommend having the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14791-97 welded on in place of the Sleeve-Lock # CA-5196-B style coupler that you currently have. This Demco coupler uses a 2" hitch ball the same as your current coupler and is rated for up to 10,000lbs which is more than the maximum weight your trailer can weigh.

The Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler - Flip Latch - Black - 2" Ball - 7,000 lbs item # CA-5196-B is made by Pacific Boat Trailers out of Chino, California with parts coming from China. If you are looking for an American made A-frame Trailer Coupler I recommend the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler w/ Jack Hole - eZ-Latch - Black - 2" Ball - Bolt On - 10K Item # DM14793-81. This has the same dimensions but a slightly higher capacity and is made in the USA.

  • Recommended Coupler And Hitch Lock Combination Keyed Alike
For your sleeve-lock coupler, I recommend the Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # 3794DAT. This will give you the hitch lock, the coupler ball lock and the pin lock. This kit is the best kit that has all three components keyed alike. If you want a better fit, you may need to move to a system with different keys. This Master Lock Set is very nice, but if you want the best coupler lock, I recommend you get something like the Blaylock...

  • Coupler Solution for A-Frame Trailer that Has Non-Standard Angle for A-Frame
The Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5196-B was designed for attaching to the standard 50 degree a-frame channels found at the front of trailers. If you have a different angle that doesn't sit flush a better choice might be to go with a channel mounted style coupler like the part # BDA2003C0317. The channel welds to the front of the trailer where the channels meet and the coupler then attaches into the channel.
