EZ Latch and Sleeve-Lock Trailer Couplers To Replace Latch Coupler on 2023 Intech Sol Horizon Camper

Question:

Hello eTrailer Folks, We have a 2024 Intech Sol Horizon max wt 4,000. After seeing Jake’s video we would like to see if we can replace our rate 10,000 yoke coupler with either the EZ Latch or Collar Lok without the assisting tab, as we have the Jack-E-Up. We would likely have to get the weld on version and drill the 6 top mounting holes, making template from the current coupler. The widest back edge is 10.5” and front to the ball apex is 13”. Seems wide, but We used a protractor/rule and came up with a 64-degree angle for the current coupler. Could you please suggestions for each of the EZ Latch or Collar Lok styles. Thanks in advance for the help. Ann and Randall

Based on your measurements it matches our Fulton 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # FE443050303 which looks to be the same as what is on the 2024 Intech Sol Horizon from the videos I could find. So this would use either the EZ Latch # DM14793-81 or Sleeve-Lock # CA-5196-B coupler. Like you mentioned you will have to drill new holes to match your trailer mounts as they do not use a typical bolt on pattern.

Hello Bud, Thank you very much for the information, it is much appreciated. It did notice that the EZ Latch # DM14793-81 or Sleeve-Lock # CA-5196-B couplers are for a 2" ball, do they make these for a 2 5/16" ball size? I will order after I hear back from you. Thanks again, Randall

Hello Bud, Thank you very much for the updated coupler information. We are going to make one larger order with the coupler, Flexco Manual Pull-Out Steps for RVs - Double - 8" Drop/Rise - 20", and suspension parts for both trucks to help with trailer towing. We have just two more question and promise these are the last two before ordering. 1. Our 2008 Tacoma 4x4 (max tow 6400#) is squatting a full 2 ½-2 ¾” when attempting to tow our 2024 Intech Horizon (4,000#). It is binding the hitch ball showing scuffing. We would like to consider either the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle Item # F2407 or the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit Item # RAS4514-SAT. Would the Firestone airbags be a better choice to raise the truck back up to level ride? Or if you have a better option we would appreciate the input 2. Our 2020 Ranger XLT FX4 (max two 7500#) squats just under 1” when towing the trailer. We would like to add the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit Item # RAS29VR to further improve the ride. We just want to verify this is the correct application before including in the order. Thanks again for the help and we will order as soon as we hear from you, Take care, Ann and Randall

@Randall You're welcome! For your Tacoma I would prefer the Firestone # F2407 as you can customize the squat and ride quality by changing the pressure in the air springs. And I would also select the Firestone # F28ZR for your Ford Ranger.
