Today we're going to be taking a look at an A-frame trailer coupler for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. This A-frame coupler is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It is a weld on installation. It's going to provide a connection point right here for your hitch ball. It's going to feature a gross weight capacity of 15,000 pounds, with a maximum towing weight capacity of 2,250 pounds. It's got the squeeze latch mechanism that's going to allow for safe and easy coupling and uncoupling. In order to connect to your hitch ball, you want to remove the safety pin that it comes with.
It's going to be connected with a nice little safety chain so you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing that. Then what you would do is you would squeeze these two pieces together. This is basically just like a grit bar. It allows you to get some leverage. Squeeze this down.
Lift it up until it snaps into position. It's going to hold itself in the open position. This would allow you connect it to your 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. When you're ready to secure it, squeeze them back together. They're going to come back down back to that set position and then you would reinsert the pin.
Secure it with the clip on the other side. Very nice design, very easy to use, and very easy to operate. Now the coupler itself is made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice black powder coat finish on it. It's going to do a great job at resisting rusting and corrosion. It's going to have the built in jack attachment point.
That's going to allow for quick and easy mounting of the square utility jack. The area back here for your utility jack is going to measure 2-1/4 by 2-1/4. That's the size of the opening, and it's going to have the three pre-drilled, pre-threaded mount holes for your square jack. Now when it comes to the overall dimensions, starting with the overall length measuring from very back to very front, this is going to give us a measurement of, it's going to be about 17-1/2 inches, right around that area. The overall width, we're going to take a look at the measurement from outside edge to outside edge. That's going to measure about 10-5/8 of an inch. Inside edge to inside edge is going to measure about 10-1/8 inch wide. That's from this point right here to this point right here. Now the pin that's included with the coupler, it can be replaced for a locking pin or a coupler lock. The diameter of that pin hole is going to measure 5/16 of an inch. Then the minimum span needed, or the usable pin length on a coupler lock would need to be 1-1/4 inch. If you're in need of a coupler lock, they are sold separately and you can find them right here at Etrailer.com. That's going to do it for today's look at the A-frame trailer coupler for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.

Jack port lets you mount a square trailer jack.I received my order today, I am very pleased with how quickly it shipped. When I opened the box I was also very pleased with the care taken to use packing papers to protect the contents. I bought a trailer coupler, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the craftsmanship used and materials used to make it "HEAVY DUTY " . I would highly recommend this product. CA-5280-QB.
Super nice quality! great hitch! Love the locking device!
Trailer gets daily use and performing like it should.
Works great!
Goood for the price
It was fast
This install is on a 2021 25W Artic Fox factory equipped with a top mount coupler and a 2019 Ford F250 with a built in step in the tailgate. As originally setup with a weight distribution hitch using a 12inch shank the tailgate would rest on the coupler latch (photo-1). I installed an 18inch Equalizer shank 90-02-4500. To determine the correct drop and rise use the Equalizer website. This shank gives me a 3 inch drop and a 5 inch rise. The 18 inch shank moved the trailer back 6 inch yet the camera in the tailgate rested on the coupler (photo-2). I then installed a bottom mount coupler CA-5335-B from etrailer (Photo 3, 4). This gave clearance for the tailgate to open. The tailgate clears the A-frame of the trailer by 5 inches (photo 5). I have found that it is easier to climb over the hitch when hooked up with the 18Inch shank (Photo 6). To finish the installation I installed 35 inch 18,800# chains and a 6ft breakaway cable. The cost with welding $445. To protect my trailer from theft I use a Proven Industries Hitch lock model 2516-J (Photo 7, 8).
Actually, not that great. I can't use the trailer lock I have without putting behind the ball latch. I can send a picture if you like.
The pin that goes through the latch has to be driven with a hammer once the latch is down. The holes don't line up.
If I had it to do over I'd get an upgraded item.
I don't use the trailer all that often so I accommodate.
The jack is decent. My only complaint would be that the wheel I purchased to go on to the jack does not pivot or turn when I push the trailer around.
I have to constantly kick the wheel in order to guide the trailer into position.
As described. Looks good to go.
Since it's a weld on item, it didn't need to be painted. We Will have to grind the paint off before welding it to the trailer tongue.
This is a great product. My trailer height had me at the top of my 8"shank. I took this to my local welding shop and had it back that afternoon.
My RV trailer stands really tall and in order to tow it level my hitch was so high that it interfered with my tailgate. By cutting the regular coupler off the top of the frame and welding this underslung coupler to the bottom of my 6" frame, I gained about 5" of space. This allowed me to move my hitch ball down while keeping the trailer level. I can now open my tailgate without hitting the hitch.
This was just what I needed. Used the grinder to remove the old twisted coupler and welded this coupler on there. Good as new.
Nice latch and looks to be holding up well with use.
Quality Seems Great. I did incur a problem with this coupler being slightly wider than the original one that I cut off. This could be in part that I'm switching from a 2" coupler to a 2-5/16". If this is just simply because it's wider you may want to purchase a new bottom jack support plate to install with this. Otherwise excellent service and fast delivery from etrailer yet again!!
This "underslug" lower coupler works great, it lowered my connection level which works great with my F-150. It has a 14,000 lbs. rating & a good locking latch.
Product is good the shipping was way to slow I ordered it on the 5th and watched it sit for 3 days before getting packaged and finally sent out it said when I perchised it the I would receive it by the 10th so it didn’t come until the 12th so it was to late had to buy another one so now I don’t need it
Very solid coupler and worked perfect for my trailer rebuild.
Works great
Perfect fit. I was going to weld it on over the damaged one - should have. Cutting the damaged one off completely generated a torque issue with the frame members that was unexpected.
So easy to deal with , product is excellent quality and fast. I live in Alberta Canada and there was 0 problems getting the product here with in the estimated time. I cannot say enough how impressed I am with this company.
