eZ-Latch Coupler

This coupler features a simple-to-use latching mechanism known as the eZ-Latch. With this mechanism, hooking up is as easy as dropping the coupler over your trailer hitch ball. The latch does not need to be tugged or manually activated to allow the ball into the coupler socket, nor does it have to be secured in place. Just make sure that the coupler is properly lined up with the ball when you lower it, and the rest is automatic. Disengaging the coupler is just as effortless. Simply lift up the contoured handle and the coupler socket will automatically release its grip on the ball. The eZ-Latch's ergonomically designed handle offers more than just a sleeker appearance. Constructed of a durable composite material that's also corrosion-proof, it is built to withstand what the road and the elements dish out.

  • Does 5000 lb Trailer Coupler Have to be Replaced with Coupler with Same Capacity
Depends on the weight of the trailer. If the trailer will never weigh more than 5,000 lbs then you wouldn't necessarily have to go with a 5k rated coupler like the Demco part # DM14793-52 that you referenced. 5,000 lb couplers are very popular, so if you were just wanting something priced a little better the part # CA-5100-Z would work great too.

  • Availability of Coupler Repair Kit for Discontinued Atwood Coupler
Hi Andy; Atwood has been gone for quite a while now so their couplers and repair kits are no longer around. The best option is to replace the coupler on your trailer. I recommend the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-81. This uses the eZ latch which makes for a quick and simple hookup and disconnect. It is also available in silver # DM14793-52. If you're looking for a more economic option we have the # CA-5210-B which is a weld-on coupler.

  • A Frame Coupler Recommendation for 2 inch Ball with 7k Capacity
The Bulldog Collar Lok Coupler part # BD028287 matches what you listed. It's an A-frame coupler with a 7k capacity that fits a 2 inch hitch ball.

  • Comparing CA-5196-B And BD028288 Couplers And Availability Of Bolt-On Options
Hello Ryan. The # CA-5196-B Ram Sleeve Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler and the Bulldog # BD028288 are fairly similar. They are both 50 degree a-frame couplers designed for a 2" ball and both are about 16" long overall. The main difference is the # CA-5196-B is rated for 7,000 lbs, while the Bulldog is rated for only 5,000. We do offer a few really nice option for a bolt-on A-frame coupler. Take a look at the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52. This is designed to be bolted on, and...

  • Recommendation of A-Frame Trailer Coupler for use with TJDA-5000S
I do have a couple solutions for you but the Square A-Frame Jack # TJDA-5000S is not compatible with the round jack mounting hole on the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52. For a trailer coupler that features a standard 2-1/4 by 2-1/4 inch square jack mounting hole you can use A-Frame Trailer Coupler w/ Square Jack Hole # CA-5280-QB. This jack uses a 2-5/16 inch ball and has a capacity of 15,000 lbs and is fully compatible with # TJDA-5000S. A 2 inch version is not available so...

  • Can Demco Coupler # DM14793-52 Have Holes Drilled for Installing Coupler
Yes, the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52 that you referenced could have holes drilled to match what you have on your trailer. This coupler would be a great option to replace a Ram brand coupler. I attached a picture that shows how the coupler latch system works for you to check out as well.

  • How Long Should Hardware be to Install the Demco A-Frame eZ-Latch Trailer Coupler
I'd be happy to help you out with your questions on the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52. 1. Yes, you can remove your old welded on coupler by using a grinder to cut the welds. Another popular option is to use a torch to cut the welds but either way is fine. 2. The 1/2" grade 5 bolts are correct and the length really just depends on your trailer frame. You basically just need to make sure they are long enough to reach through both the coupler and your frame and still have enough...

  • Can the Latch On An Old Trailer with Fulmer/Fultun Trailer Coupler Be Replaced
I do have an option for you but we do not have a trailer coupler repair kit for your Fulmer/Fultun trailer coupler. I know these kits are convenient and cost saving but the fact of the matter is that they are not universal and will only work on very specific applications. I know this is not what you want to hear but if you want to be able to tow your trailer again you will need to cut the old trailer coupler off and bolt a new one on. I recommend the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler part...

  • Can Primed Demco A-Frame Coupler be Welded to Trailer
Yes the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-97 could be welded instead of bolting it to the trailer. Instead though I would recommend the # DM14793-52 which isn't primed so would be a bit easier to weld.

  • Bolt-On 2-Inch A-Frame Ball Couplers
A high-capacity A-frame trailer coupler cannot have the ball coupler portion cut off and a new similar part bolted on. The result would be a reduced and unknown weight capacity; it is a sure thing that the repaired coupler would not have anything close to its original rating. You can replace the welded-on A-frame coupler with a bolt on type but you'll have to have a welder completely remove the old unit from the trailer frame. We have three Demco bolt-on 2-inch ball couplers for A-frame...

  • Bolts for Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler
The Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-81 (Black) or # DM14793-52 (Silver) do not come with bolts. You will need to use 1/2" Grade 5 hex bolts with them. I've added links to video reviews of each coupler for you to check out.

  • 2 inch Ball Coupler Recommendation for A-Frame Trailer
I checked with Curt and they only have a 2-5/16 inch ball version of the QuickPin with the part # C84DR. S for a 2 inch ball a-frame coupler I really like the Demco coupler part # DM14793-52 which has the eZ Latch that I think is the easiest and least likely to get hard to operate over time like a lot of couplers do.

  • Replacement Composite Latch Handle for Demco eZ-Latch Trailer Couplers
What you're looking for is the corrosion-proof composite latch handle that is part of some Demco eZ-Latch couplers like part # DM14793-52. We don't sell the latch handle individually but we do carry a repair kit, part # DM6109, that has it included.

  • Coupler Lock and Secuirty for Bolt-On A-Frame Coupler
When using a bolt-on coupler such as the Demco # DM14793-52, trailer coupler locks such as the Master Lock # ML389DAT are added to prevent trailer theft. These locks are an inexpensive and large deterrent to those looking to steal a trailer. There is no absolute way to prevent theft of a coupler if somebody was determined enough, but it would be extraordinarily unusual for someone to go through the amount of time, trouble, and risk of unbolting a coupler for the purposes of taking the coupler...

  • Can Weld-On A-Frame Trailer Coupler be Replaced with a Bolt-On Coupler
Yes, you can replace your weld-on coupler with a bolt-on. You'll just need to drill the holes. Then, if you wanted to go back to a weld-on later that would be fine too. Just to confirm you can check with the trailer's manufacturer that drilling the holes won't lower the trailer's capacity. Our most popular A-frame couplers are the Demco eZ-Latch. The eZ-Latch makes it easier to hookup and disconnect from your trailer. For a coupler that fits a 2 inch ball use # DM14793-52 and for...

  • Can Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler be Used on Car Hauler Trailer
Yes; your car hauler trailer has to have an A-frame and be within the correct weight rating, but if so you can definitely use the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-52. The # DM14793-52 has a 10,000 lb capacity so that's the most your loaded trailer can be, but otherwise this will certainly work for a car hauler trailer.

Ideally you would weld on the Pro Series Coupler part # PSE338050303 that you referenced. If you went with this coupler I would strongly recommend you have a qualified welder install it. For an A-frame coupler designed to be bolted on you would want the part # DM14793-52.

  • Can The etrailer Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5196-B Be Bolted To The Trailer Tongue
Hey Fred, The etrailer Sleeve-Lock A-Frame Trailer Coupler # CA-5196-B wasn't designed to be bolted on so I can not confirm that drilling and bolting it to the trailer tongue would be acceptable. I will say that most couplers designed to bolt on to the tongue in this weight capacity would use six 3/8" grade 5 bolts, with three bolts per side running horizontally. If you'd like a coupler that is designed to be bolted on the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler w/ Jack Hole # DM14793-52 would...
