The Curt A25 is rated for a gross towing weight of 25,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 6,250 lbs. This hitch uses an interlocking 2-jaw system that wraps fully around the king pin for 360-degree contact. That tight, even grip cuts down on rattle and movement you’d get with a slide-bar design, giving you a quieter and more stable ride. The jaws lock firmly for consistent coupling, so every time you hook up you get the same solid feel—no guessing, no clunking, just a smooth connection that inspires confidence.
Curt’s color-coded indicator takes the guesswork out of coupling. Red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means locked in for towing. The indicators are easy to see from the cab or beside the bed, so you can confirm your setup with one quick glance. And when you unhook, the handle resets itself to the ready-to-couple position automatically—one less step before your next trip.
When maneuvering at slow speeds or backing into tight sites, the included S25 slider gives you 12" of front-to-back travel for extra clearance between truck and trailer. It slides easily without binding and automatically latches in both directions so you can focus on steering instead of fiddling with release handles. That extra pivot room makes short turns smoother and safer when space gets tight.
Clearing your bed doesn’t have to be a chore. The A25’s head lifts off quickly with a single pin, making it easy for one person to handle without extra tools or lifting gear. Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. Still using and I really like the hitch and other items I purchased a year ago. After installing the Curt fifthwheel hitch, Ive used it several times and I will be using it a bunch over rbe next several weeks. Easy to maintain and use.

If the handle is not releasing the kingpin is binding with the jaws. The hitch needs weight on it to couple and uncouple so it makes sense that you have to move the truck back a bit to release the jaws.

Rails have been in place for a year and used many times. Absolutely no issues and the bolts have all remained tight, thanks to the proper torque.
