Note: When using this slider, your hitch head will not adjust to the lowest height setting.

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Works great I fid have to buy some metic nuts to put my A 16 hitch on. The arms were tapped on original but not on the slide. Not a big deal went to hardware store got nuts and lock washers

Looks to be built solid, time will tell when I have a chance to pull our 5th wheel.

I originally purchased the R16 slider for my A16 hitch 3 seasons ago. I was never really happy with the R16 because the design of the slider induced a lot of chucking during stops and starts. The tolerances between the rollers and rails were so bad you could literally move the slider up and down a good 1/4 to 1/2" on the rails without a trailer attached to the hitch. Curt introduced the new S20 and claimed that it eliminated almost all chucking, so I thought I'd give it a try. The tolerances on the slider rails on the S20 are much tighter than on the R16. After our first trip with the S20, I will say the chucking was significantly less. I know you can't remove all the chucking - it's inherent in a 5th wheel hitch. But I am pretty pleased with it at this point. The reason for 4 stars is that I'm disappointed(?) I had to buy another slider to eliminate a problem that Curt should have fixed in the first place.

  • Will Curt R20 Slider Stop Chucking With Curt A16 Head
Chucking will be reduced by switching from the Curt R16 to the Curt S20 Slider for E16, A16, and A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C63DR. I'm not 100 percent sure what type of verification you were referring to specifically, but I can tell you that the solid design of the S20 is going to help reduce chucking as it reduces the amount of slop where it slides. I've added a photo showing the very different designs of the sliders, and the S20 is a solid piece at its rollers compared to the open...

  • Legs For Connecting Curt A20 5TH Wheel Hitch Head To a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Factory Pucks
There are a couple options for your Curt A20 Head # C16540. The first as you mentioned is using the Base Legs # C16906 with the Adapter Rails # C88KR. You could also use the Curt OEM 5th Wheel Hitch Legs # CU53FR to bolt directly to the head and drop into the factory pucks. If you are needing a slider style hitch we do have the Curt S20 Slider # C63DR you can mount to your head. This will require the Adapter Rails # C88KR as well.

  • What Are the Main Differences Between the Curt A20 and S20 Slider
That's really about it, Frank. They both have the same capacity and are virtually the same. The S20 # C63DR is also a bit quieter than the R20, and automatically latches in both directions so you only have to get out of the truck once.

  • Legs for Chevy Silverado 2500 OEM Prep For Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch
Hi Nick; if you're looking for fixed legs the # CU53FR fits the 2020-2025 models while the # C16025 fits the 2016-2019. For the slider you can use the Curt S20 Slider for E16, A16, and A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C63DR along with an adapter. If you have the 2020-2025 you need the # C88KR and if it is a 2016-2019 the # C47BR.

  • Slider Base Needed For A Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch
Hey Erik, To swap your Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch # C16120 from a fixed base to a slider base you'll just need the R16 Roller # C16560 that you were already looking at. This is going to bolt up to your hitch the same way that the fixed legs do. If you think you might upgrade later on to an A20 for some more capacity then I recommend going with the S20 Slider Base # C63DR instead since it's compatible with both the A16 and A20 so you can minimize the cost later on.

  • Troubleshooting A Curt R20 Roller Base That Keeps Getting Stuck
Hey Keith, The slider base for your Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch # C16541 is just a couple of rods with two notches cut out of them for the hitch to lock into. If it's getting stuck and wiggling the hitch loosens it then the spring in the release handle could be worn out or the notches could be rounded out a bit allowing the hitch to pinch up against the edge of the notch and prevent the handle from releasing. Aside from proper lubrication with a white lithium grease to help with binding...
