5TH Wheel Rail Kit and 5TH Wheel Hitches For a 2005 Ford F-350

Updated 02/04/2026 | Published 06/29/2024

Question:

I bought a used truck that had already had a 5th-wheel hitch. I would like to avoid drilling more holes in the bed and would rather re-use the existing one. There are 8 holes now, where they are 4.25 from one side of the rail to the other, the rails were 22 apart, and 40.5 from the right side of the bed to the left. Can you recommend hitches for that?

Depending on what mounts were used to attach to your frame you are going to need either the Curt Universal Rail Kit # C16200 or Curt Custom Fit Rail Kit # C16448-204. The custom fit rail kit uses mounting holes in the frame with custom brackets to connect the above bed rails. While the universal kit requires you to drill holes into the frame below the mounting holes to secure to the frame. You will need to check your frame to see which mounts were used or if they may still be in place.

Then you will be able to mount either a Fixed # C16180 or Slider # C35DR hitch depending on your bed length.

Hey, were you able to check which mounts your truck frame has for the 5th-wheel rails? Knowing that would show whether the custom or universal Curt rail kit fit best. Your update could make it easier for others trying to reuse existing rails.

@LazerS Bud M was correct, the Curt 16448 Kit matched the holes that were already in the bed. Now I just have to take the time to install it.
