Video Transcript for Review of the Zinc Plated Hex Flange Nut

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the M8-1.25 steel zinc-plated serrated hex flange nut. This is for a quantity of one. Now, this can be used on the Chevrolet and GMC trucks to connect the factory run 12-volt lead and the trailer brake power lead to the post in the fuse box under the hood. This nut is a steel construction, has a nice sink-plated finish to it. It is a class eight grade serrated flange nut.

The size again we mentioned is M8-1.25 coarse thread, and the hex head size is 13 millimeters. But that should do it for the review on this M8-1.25 steel zinc-plated serrated hex flange nut.

Well, it's a nut. Not much that can go wrong. Used this on my GMT400 Yukon. (1996 Yukon) for the AUX post in the fuse box for installing my trailer brake controller and to get AUX power for the trailer plug.

by:

Fits as needed for installing a trailer brake on a 2013 Yukon

by:

The item that arrived did NOT fit the stud in my engine compartment for the factory wiring for brake controller on my 2013 GMC Yukon- the nut that arrived was about three times larger than needed- I called to report this, spoke with Ashley and there was no answer how to get the correct nut needed

  • Correct Bolt and Nut for the Channels of a Yakima LockNLoad Platform Carrier
I do have an option for you, but I contacted the manufacturer about whether the Replacement T-Bolt with Nut for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailers # Y8880184 will work with a Yakima LockNLoad platform like the # Y05045-39. They informed me that the LockNLoad's use M8 bolts and the Rack and Roll uses M10 bolts. Instead you can use the Replacement M8 T-Bolt # 853-0782 and either the Zinc Plated Hex Flange Nut - M8 # 185917 or the Replacement 3-Wing, High M8 Hand Knob # 753-0776 for a nut. Any...

  • Help With Installing a Trailer Brake Controller On a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
While we do not have an installation video I have linked a great help article we have for this near the bottom of the page. The article includes pictures of the wiring and goes into further detail about the installation on your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. On top of the brake controller you will need a M6 # 185916 and M8 # 185917 flange nut. For brake controllers our best is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This has an easy to read LCD screen which you can customize unlike other controllers....

  • Is the Tekonsha Voyager Compatible witha 2009 GMC Yukon XL
Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, and virtually any of them can be installed on any vehicle. The Tekonsha Voyager, part # 39510, can be used on your 2009 GMC Yukon, just make sure that you have it wired properly. If your Yukon came with a 7-Way from the factory, all you will need is the brake controller as the Yukon is pre-wired for it. You will follow the instructions on the article you were looking at. There should be a bundle of wires taped up behind the brake pedal. There...

To complete the installation of the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR on your 2008 GMC Sierra, you will need a Universal Wiring Harness # RED69FR, a M6 Flange Nut # 185916 and M8 Flange Nut # 185917. There is not a plug and play option for your Sierra as the wiring is bundled near the brake pedal and does not have a OE connector. You will need to splice the wiring from the Redarc harness to your factory wiring. You can choose to solder the wiring and cover with electrical...

Under the dash of your 2011 Chevy Silverado to the left of the steering column is a bundle of bluntly cut wires. These wires will connect to the main unit of the Redarc part # RED44FR just like a traditional style brake controller. The wire colors are Red/Black wire, White wire, Light Blue/White wire and Dark Blue wire, possibly Orange wire. You can disregard the dark blue and orange wires since they are not needed for a brake controller installation. Connect the brake control to these...

I have linked a video showing where the wiring is and how to install a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 below. • Installing a Brake Controller in a 2008 Chevy Silverado with Factory Integrated Controller
First, hop on I-70 east to Wentzville because that is where we are! And we have skills to spare when it comes to installing brake controllers. Installing the Voyager brake controller # 39510 will be easy on your 2008 Chevy Silverado, even with the factory integrated controller. First, locate the tow package wire bundle under the dash. It is located above your left shin if seated in the driver's seat. The wire bundle will have a white tag on it with the wire colors and functions. Make...

  • Are There Connections Under the Hood of a 2008 Chevy Silverado For Brake Controller Install
To install a brake controller like the part # 90195 in your 2007 Chevy Silverado there are a few connections under the hood of your truck that need to be made. There is one wire by the truck's fender that will need to get connected to the fuse box and there is another wire beneath the brake booster that needs to get run to the fuse box. Check out the help article I attached that details this process. For nuts you will need M8, # 185917 and the M6, # 185916. I also attached an install video.

It sounds like you have things going in the right direction. The power distribution post, that has the 30 amp fuse installed closest to it, will provide power to the brake controller at all times. The brake controller is designed to only draw a few milliamps when not in use. A vehicle battery drains faster just sitting than the few milliamp draw of the brake controller so there is no reason to worry about constant power to the brake controller discharging the battery.
