Create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

The item was shipped but was lacking all of the pieces and parts needed for use. etrailer was excellent trying to locate the missing items but did not have them in stock. Return was easy but they could package them better for shipping.

Best hitch for E-Pro 16BH by far. I have towed my camper with 2021 F-150 for a few months without this hitch. Not bad but let me say that with this Blue Ox things have improved dramatically. Everything is level and sway has reduced significantly. I chose this hitch due to price as well as the the trailer tongue set up of my Flagstaff E-Pro 16BH propane and battery configuration. I assume same for E-Pro 16BH and GeoPro 16BH as these are the same build. I had to remove my propane tray to install this but things fit like a glove and was able to re-install the tray and tanks without having to relocate anything. The install instructions mention measurements from the center of the receiver which I found to be a slightly long for my trailer- see pics with the 20" and 24" marks

I bought a new (to me) 2011R-vision Trail Sport. When installing the hitch with the help of the previous owner, (who had recommended the Blue Ox Hitch from etrailer), we could not get the left spring bar to lock into the receiver. After repeated attempts to no avail, we wedged the spring bar in and and after applying weight, it stayed in place and I was able to limp home. On arrival I unhooked the trailer and brought the hitch to my work bench where I discovered a metal burr from welding inside the left receptacle. I was able to grind the burr of with my Dremel tool and the hitch is now working properly. This project took well over 2 hours and was extremely frustrating! The previous owner had an older version of the Blue Ox hitch and I was fortunate that he had some experience with installation, none the less we were both exasperated. And one final complaint, the edges of the pry bar were sharp enough to cut my hand but a touch up with a file and some emery cloth resolved the problem. I'm not one to complain but I was pretty frazzled by the end of the 40 minute drive home.

by:

Love this hitch! Looked at the higher cost ones, went with this one. 1st trip was a short one. Real test was a 2 week vacation to Colorado from Louisiana. The wind across north Texas is no joke!!!!! I seen other trailers swaying all over the road. Was able to keep my speed with minimal sway and movement. I could not imagine what that drive is like without a WD system.

by:

This is a very good weight distribution hitch for light weight trailers. Installation was fairly simple, but can be cumbersome if you have to make any changes. Using a flat level surface and a tape measure is key. Recommend you get a tongue jack stand along with this, otherwise you’ll have a difficult time raising the trailer enough to get the arms on. Keeping it from being 5 stars, the packaging was absolutely awful. Multiple holes in the box that were taped up, parts had banged around inside the box chipping some of the paint. Hopefully this gets corrected in the future.

by:

UPS tore the box to pieces and lost the lever arm needed to load the spring bars onto the hitch. etrailer shipped a replacement out the same day I called so my customer was not inconvenienced. simply awesome customer service!

by:

There was a UPS delivery problem with my initial order. The response from etrailer was fantastic, prompt responses and very quick shipping on the follow up order. Parts are all in good condition and accounted for. This appears to be a very nicely designed and sturdy hitch. Can't wait to test it.

The Blue Ox is exactly what I needed for my 2018 Titan to pull my Ozark 1650 without even knowing its back there. It sets up easy and does make a difference even with an ultralight camper. Makes long trips with my travel trailer painless. I had an issue with a damaged package that wasn't received as it was sent back. I called eTrailer immediately to find out the issue and was met with wonderful customer service. I was instantly relieved to find that during the phone conversation (Ashley? not sure of her name) I was already booked to get the same Blue OX WDH rushed to me. This saved me from scrapping my weekend camping plans and showed the high level of professionalism and expertise that etrailer brings to the table. I WILL ALWAYS give my business to etrailer for this very reason.

The parts were all included and quality built. It was simple to install and easy to read instructions. Once I installed the product, I drove around the block and could not tell the trailer was even on the back of the truck. It has smoothed out the towing.

  • Which Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch for 8500-lbs GVWR Grand Design Imagine 2670MK
The best way to match your trailer with a weight distribution system is by the tongue weight of your trailer; your trailer tongue weight should be at least 10% and no more than 15% of the GVWR. Assuming that you load the trailer so you're in that range then you'll have roughly 800-lbs to 1200-lbs total tongue weight, so I recommend using the Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 6-Hole Shank - 10K GTW, 1.2K TW # BLU75FR. This weight distribution system is designed for trailers...

Hey Gary, so I looked up the weight of your 2022 Flagstaff Micro Lite 21FBRS and based on that the best weight distribution and sway control option is the Strait Line part # RP66083 which has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs and features best sway control at fighting sway before it starts as it works to keep the trailer in a "straight line" as much as possible.

  • Best Weight Distribution Hitch for a Big Tex 14ET-22 Trailer
Yes, the Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 6-Hole Shank item # BLU75FR will work with a 6" C channel trailer frame like the one on your Big Tex 14ET-22. This system only has 2 point sway control and is the lowest model Blue Ox offers so you shouldn't have high expectations for it. With the weight of your trailer you will still experience a decent amount of sway. Instead, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 12,000 lbs GTW,...

  • Correct Size Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution System for Palomino Puma 28DBFQ
The correct size Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution System for a Palomino Puma 28DBFQ is indeed part # BLU75FR. It's rated for more than the trailer weighs but this will give you more room for error or just more wiggle room if you decide to load the trailer heavier. You'll want the system to be overrated rather than underrated so all will be good. Plus, if you upgrade trailers you might still be covered with the same system.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for a 6,000 lbs Lance 2185 Trailer
It looks like your 2015 Lance 2185 trailer weighs right at 6,000 lbs when fully loaded. Knowing this I would strongly recommend the use of weight distribution system with sway control. Weight distribution systems are selected off of tongue weight which is somewhere between 10% and 15% of your trailer's total weight. This would put your 6,000 lbs trailer's tongue weight between 600 lbs and 900 lbs. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37100ET....

One option is to relocate the propane tank tray. A lot of times the trays are attached to the A-frame with self tapping screws. You could remove the screws and move the tray front/back as needed. There is not any kind of adapter that is made for this purpose and you will have to connect the frame brackets 20-25 inches back from the center of the ball if you want to use a Blue Ox WD hitch like the # BLU75FR. • Is It Normal For Edge Of L Bracket On Blue Ox 2-Point BLU44XR To Wear A Lot?
That is not normal wear for the L-Brackets on your Blue 2-Point # BLU75FR to be that worn. It looks like you have too much angle in the head, so I recommend trying to tilt the L-brackets a little to try and get the bar less on just that one edge, and verify your system is rated correctly for your trailer. The tilting of the head is used to add tension to the spring bars so it's possible your spring bars are underrated for the tongue weight your using it for. With all of that said for...

We have weight distribution systems that have a wide enough range for 600 and 1,000 lbs tongue weight but the Blue Ox part # BLU75FR has too high of a range for the 600 lb side. Instead you'd want the Reese kit part # RE44FR which has a range from 600 to 1,150 lbs and is overall pretty similar.
