Notes:
With the Companion from B&W, you get a heavy-duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch that mounts in your truck bed by connecting directly to a custom underbed mounting kit (sold separately) with the included components. No modifications are required to your truck or trailer. And no additional parts are required for the system to work. When you're done towing, the entire hitch can be removed for complete bed access.
Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Built-In Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.
The Companion's pivot arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you some additional cab clearance. To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

The built-in slider on this sturdy 5th-wheel hitch helps eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Dual jaws offer excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact. Hitch removes easily for full bed access.Awesome hitch. Heavy, but I install it alone with my cherry picker. I have a roll n lock bed cover and it closes over the base with the 5th wheel removed. Easy to slide for tight spots with my short bed F350. 552591
This hitch is one fine piece of equipment. Instructions were perfectly detailed and if that's not enough there are videos to guide you. Installed in 4 hours with no problems. Haven't gone anywhere yet but did hook up to camper and was impressed. 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed 486162
Just started 5th wheel camping and wanted a hitch that when removed left my truck box bare. I also talked to alot of people who talked about clunking and noise from their hitch while towing. I bought a 2013 32' Coachman which is pushing my 2009 F150 to its max. When pulling with this hitch it feels like the truck and trailer are one unit. No noise and no slop between the two units. I made a lifting pin that goes into the jaws and lifts it out with a comealong hooked to a rafter support in my garage. I then put it onto a wheel cart I made. No heavy lifting and one person can do it all. I've had one teflon foot fall of the hitch and the service was amazing no questions, no pictures, and no waiting. New piece was sent right away. Anyone who tows now and has looked at the hit are very impressed. I would definitly recomend this hitch to everyone. 592596
Was as described very heavy, I would have given 5 stars but after installing I tried to take up. Not gonna happen unless I have some kind of hoist. 602234
I've had this for about a year. Only have about 2,000 miles of use with a 13,000 lbs 5th wheel travel trailer. It is still like new. Jaws are tight, no rattles with or without the trailer attached. I use a nylon guide plate, to keep things clean. The only issue is the slider will not unlatch from the locked position with the trailer attached. Unlatch and slides fine when not loaded. Just haven't made the time to talk to B&W about this. The base is a heavy bugger, and fits snug in the receptical. I've lifted it in and out myself, but not a smart idea. Overall I would buy again. For our use, where we need the whole bed the majority of time it is an easy solution. 608616
Seems to be as expected, Have not installed yet but it was easy to assemble. 909327

very nice product. Heavy but a solid build and quiet when towing. Highly recommended. 893501
The new hitch arrived in good condition and packed well. I had it installed within 2 hours with no problems. I tend to gauge a good product, especially when made in the USA, by its appearance and weight, but I also noticed the welds and paint as something you can't get anywhere else but in the US. I look forward to using it and adding to my review. 884573
Not really happy with the sliding mechanism hangs up and bangs really hard when trying to slide 866499
I bought the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider along with the B&W Turnover Ball. Both are very solid builds and installation was spot on with directions and videos. The quality of the hitch is bar none. I bought this in preparation for my new fifth wheel RV arrival. I cannot wait to put it to use. As a new RV owner, I wanted a product and manufacture I could depend on. I bought this from etrailer.com because they are also a company I can depend on when I have questions. The only drawback is the unit is very heavy and requires a two or three-person lift. To overcome this, I am installing an electric hoist in my garage. 828973

The 5th wheel we purchased from your company is excellent. Extremely easy to install. It arrived within the time frame promised. We would highly recommend your company. Ordering process was easy and your representatives were very knowledgeable and helpful. 822103
great customer service and product, Thanks Matt 817765
Our driveway makes an “S” turn from a narrow private road. The sliding hitch make it do-able. So far zero problems. We have the turnover ball type and love it. Workings on adjusting our friends puck mounted slider tomorrow. Pucks aren’t adjusted properly and binding the slider rails. May need to back off the rollers but not sure. Doesn’t seem to be videos for the slider system, especially the puck system. Still would buy the companion hitch system after one year of us and 10k + miles. 821005
Excellent hitch. If your truck doesn't come with factory 5th wheel hitch prep, the combination of the turnover ball and this hitch works like a charm. Easy to connect to truck and disconnect. Towed for hundreds of miles. Highly recommend. 808986
Use it monthly. Works great 802978
My tow vehicle, 2006 Dodge-2500 Mega Cab, already had the B&W under the bed turnover for towing a gooseneck trailer. I am so glad it does because I am extremely please with the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch. 795942
Tows great, very smooth. Had one issue with the draw down bolt that B&W quickly resolved. Slider is very easy to use for 1 man towing operation. 793448
I love my B&W Companion Slider. I got it for my 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. It was simple to install as the instructions were very plain. Also, videos are available to show exactly how to install. My last fifth wheel hitch was a Reese. I liked it, until I used my brother's B&W last fall. The B&W is more expensive, but it is worth every penny. Several times while towing, I had to look back and make sure the rv was still there, no banging, clanging or other loud noises. I didn't have to use the slider this trip, but it operates perfectly. The only drawback I have is the weight. I could lift and install the Reese by hand. Now, with the B&W, I use the front end loader on my tractor and can set it in the bed, allowing me to install it by myself. The craftsmanship on this hitch is top notch. 792211
The Live chat representative was extremely helpful and hitch was exactly what I need. It was delivered quickly and with no damage. I will definitely do business with etrailer.com in the future. 772756
I needed a solution to accommodate the clearance issue I had with my 2019 Palamino Puma 5th wheel that had a full 96" wide, non- tapered front and my short box 2003 F250 pick up. The B&W slider hitch was the ultimate solution! Heavy Duty, Highest Quality and Made in the USA with a Lifetime Warranty! 770736
I haven't used the products yet, but the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch came on a pallet and was not damaged at all. It's in the truck and ready to go. Looks great! 768221
The hitch works great and the slider has got me in and out of a couple of tight places that I have found myself in. The hitch is heavy and takes up a lot of real estate in my bed but I don’t think that’s a bad thing when pulling a 15k 40ft 5th wheel. Easy to operate and locks up tight and secure. Great product as expected. 765916
