This dual-speed functionality ensures you have the right tool for any situation, whether you're pulling in your boat or lifting gear. The smart shift-lock design means gear changes are seamless—you don't even have to adjust the handle position.

Ultimate Durability Against the Elements: Zinc Finish and Polypropylene Cover

Concerned about winch longevity, especially in harsh marine environments? The Fulton XLT Winch boasts a corrosion-resistant zinc finish with an impressive salt spray rating of 600 hours. Paired with a durable polypropylene cover, it shields vital components from the elements. This robust construction ensures your winch remains in peak condition, boat trip after boat trip.

  • How to Choose the Correct Size Trailer Winch For a Boat Trailer
The size winch that you will need depends on a couple of different factors. I have included part of our hand winch FAQ below regarding boat winches and have linked the FAQ article for you to view. Finding the Right Capacity Winch for your Boat Trailer Boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1 With good rollers and short winching distances, increase the ratio to 3 to 1 With wooden bunks and long winching distances, reduce the ratio to 1 to 1 For example, a 2,200-lb boat generally...

  • Can You Replace The Strap On The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch F142425
Hello Cody. Yes, the strap on the Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142425 can be replaced. It looks like we offer only one compatible strap longer than 20'. That is the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch Strap # DL24250 which is 25' long. About how long of a strap are you thinking you need? Do you think the 25 footer would work?

  • Recommended Boat Winch For 2,200LB Aluminum Center Console Boat For Use in Salt Water
The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch # F142425 is one of our strongest mechanical boat winches. This winch is rated for up to 3,200lbs and has a 5.1:1 or 12.2:1 gear ratio to aid in pulling the boat onto your trailer. The handle is 10" long and the entire winch has a zinc finish with polypropylene cover to protect it from salt water. • Determining The Correct Capacity Winch For A 10,000lb Boat
There are two schools of thought when it comes to determining the correct sized winch for a boat. The first being that the winch should be able to handle 3/4th of the total combined weight of the boat along with the motor, fuel and gear. The second being a 2:1 ratio (winch is capable of handling 1/2 of the weight). There are other factors that can limit or improve a winch's ability to pull the boat onto the the trailer, such as whether your trailer has good rollers or wooden bunks and...

  • Comparing Fulton XLT and Dutton Lainson 2 Speed Winch
The covers of the Fulton XLT part # F142425 are removable with a Torx head wrench. If you are looking for basically the nicest hand winch around this would be the winner. Our customers who have this winch all really like it so I know you will like it as well. The Dutton Lainson part # DL15440 is also a great winch that will work well and may be a better winch for the money. But the XLT is easier to change the direction of the winch and has a protective casing which is also pretty sleek...

The Fulton XLT 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # F142425 as the title states has two speeds; a high speed which lets you retrieve your load much faster but it will be more strenuous and a low speed which makes it slower to retrieve your load but it will be much easier physically speaking. The low speed will be considerably easier to use than a standard single speed hand crank winch so as long as you are okay with the slower retrieval, you'll surely appreciate the mechanical advantage. Thanks for all that info, and in regards to capacity, a couple of things come into play, including the bunks and the distance you are winching. So while wooden bunks hinder the winch capacity, the fact you are only going a few feet is certainly a bonus so it is safe to assume the boat-size-to-winch capacity for your situation is in the neighborhood of 2-to-1, meaning for a boat that is in the 4,500 lb to 5,000 lb range you will need at least a 2,500 lb or so capacity winch. • Mounting Hole Dimensions for Fulton XLT Winches
The Fulton winches like the part # F142425 that you referenced use an industry standard type bolt pattern that allows the winch to be basically installed on any trailer. This Fulton XLT winches goes even farther with extra, elongated, holes to ensure a fit to even more patterns. The industry standard mounting pattern is basically a triangle-shaped bolt pattern. The two bolts at the bottom are 2-1/4 inches apart on center. The top bolt is 4-1/2 inches from either bottom bolt on center.

  • Solution for Attempting to Install Fulton XLT Winch on Trailer Where Mounting Plate Doesnt Match Up
The Fulton XLT Winch part # F142425 was designed to fit most winch mounting plates but it sounds like yours has holes that are just not totally compatible. Best option would be to drill new holes on your plate to allow the winch to fit without having any of the bolt holes angled. You'll want to drill new holes far enough away from the old holes so that there isn't any mounting plate strength compromised.
