Trailer Winch that Includes Remote for easier loading
Stay where you need to be while you pull a car, tractor, or boat aboard—includes remote lets you control the winch from a safer vantage point. It's a handy setup for car haulers, equipment trailers, and boat trailers. For best results, match winch capacity to your load and factor in ramp incline and ground slope so the pull stays smooth and within range.
Bolt the winch to solid structure; adding angle brackets to tie into the trailer frame helps. Some setups use existing bolt patterns or included plates; check hardware length if your mount is thicker. Free spool may need a little coaxing at first. Plan your remote cable or wireless receiver placement so you can reach your control spot.
Match the winch's line pull to at least the load you're moving. For a 4,000 lb vehicle, using around 4,400 lb line pull was recommended. Factor in ramp incline and that capacity drops on outer drum layers. Going bigger reduces strain, can move quicker, and can help it last longer.
Use a battery that meets the winch's minimum CCA in the owner's manual; a 9,000 lb unit called for at least 650 CCA. If the battery isn't on the vehicle and you'll use the winch frequently, a deep cycle marine battery holds up well. Secure the battery with a proper tray/hold down and verify cable length for your mounting location.
A winch that includes remote lets you stand where you need to guide the load. A long wired remote can reach to the back of a 20' trailer deck. Wireless remotes can add flexibility; they may take a little time to sync up. Decide if you want a built-in controller or a corded hand control based on where you plan to operate from.
