Hey Kris, the Dutton Lainson winch part #DL15440 does not come with a strap so you will need to order one with it. The part #DL24250 will work great with this winch as it is correct width, is 25 feet in length, and has a capacity of 3,700 lb WLL and…

The 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch part #315-W3200D is an excellent upgraded 3,200 lb winch for a boat trailer. In regards to mounting, not all winches use the same pattern so you'd need to compare the dimensions in the photo below to what you have…

I spoke to the manufacturer Jif Marine, they informed me that the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part #315-W2500D would not be sufficient for a 3,500 - 4,000 lb boat even with bunk boards. The bunk boards are certainly going to help…
Unfortunately it will not Bill but congrats on the car! There's been two generation changes with big redesigns on the Corolla so the older hitch isn't going to be transferable. To add a hitch to your 2025 Toyota Corolla LE, I recommend the…
Hey Dale, this is a great question but while the ComeUp UW-5000si Trailer Winch #CU645010 and the part #CU644501 are pretty similar they have notable differences. First being that the 5000 has more weight capacity at 5,000 lb vs. 4,500 lb, it…

When it comes to choosing a winch for a boat trailer, there are a few general rules we can use. The boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1. With good rollers and short winching distances, the ration can increase to 3 to 1 and with wooden…

Trailer Winch with Freespooling Clutch for Loading
Count on steady pulls when loading boats, cars, and equipment with a trailer winch that uses a freespooling clutch. It suits boat ramps and car haulers alike, giving you the control you want as you position the load. For a clean install, plan a solid mount and confirm your cable length reaches the battery or power source on your setup.
Mount to a sturdy surface and tie into the trailer frame when possible. Adding angle brackets so the frame is bolted to the trailer frame and decking helps. Some installs fit inside a toolbox with the battery; verify footprint, bolt pattern, and whether mounting hardware or a plate is included. Keep the drum and clutch area protected if your anchor or cargo passes close during loading.
Start by confirming the clutch is engaging firmly. If pull feels weak, check the clutch setting; the manual says to not adjust clutch more than 20 degrees. Inspect fasteners on the drive side; a small gear falling off due to a missing snap ring caused a hard day on the ramp. Give the drum a short test pull with a known load to verify it will pull what you need.
Operation should be smooth when mounted securely and wired properly. A wired remote around 20' can let you reach the back of a 20' trailer deck; some wireless remotes can take a little time to sync. Do a short payout and power-in test first. If anything seems loose, stop and recheck clutch engagement and drivetrain hardware before committing to a full pull.
Use wire rated for the amp draw, solid connections, and a breaker near the battery. Anderson style connectors and a deep cycle / marine battery can simplify trailer setups. For a 9000 lb winch, a battery with a minimum of 650 CCA is recommended. Check that included power cables reach your mounting location; one user found the cable 4' short on a boat trailer. If a 35A breaker isn't insulated, upgrade to an insulated breaker.
