While this light is fully functional and will work, the description could use some additional information for those that are looking for a fully "surface mount" light. The hole that the wires go through is not flush so you will either need to have it in a cutout or you will need to delete the plastic around the hole so it will allow for a surface mount. Also the screw holes on the light are not flat with the light and will prohibit a flush mount to the surface of your vehicle. If you review my photos you will see that have fully screwed in these lights however they sit off the surface just a little bit on the edges because of the light design. I'm hoping they are water tight enough but I will see after a season of use.

I installed a set of these on my truck camper several (10?) years ago. While completing a restoration project on the camper, I accidently broke one of the housings. Faced with having to replace both lights (for a matched set), I was thrilled to see that these Peterson lights were still available. Ordered one and installed it. So now the world is right again!

    Since I'm assuming you just installed the # V457 and # V457L it is unlikely the lights themselves are the problem. It could have to do with the installation. These lights are designed to ground through the mounting hardware. Make sure the hardware is running into a metal surface that contacts the trailer frame.
