Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at an LED amber RV porch light. Now, this light is great for an enclosed trailer or RV. It features an amber lens with a white plastic base. The lens is removable and can be replaced if ever needed. The light does have an angle to it, which points the light at a downward angle, so this light would be great to illuminate the area right outside your RV or enclosed trailer. It would also be great to illuminate stairs or a ramp, or any type of walkway.
It is a surface mount installation. It features a nice two wire design, so installation hardware as well as the wiring connectors are included. It does come with a couple wire nuts. The black wire is for power, white wire is for ground. It is designed for 12 volt systems and the power drawl is 0.12 amps.
It has the on and off switch located right here, so it's very easy to access and operate. It features a nice weather-proof design. Now, internally it features an LED chip, and on that chip are 18 LEDs, or 18 diodes which provides a really nice light output. Here at the end of the video we'll hook it up to power so you can see what it looks like with some power running to it. LEDs are great replacements for incandescent lights, especially as an RV porch or utility light because it does not produce near as much heat. With this light, even with it on for a long time you're not going to notice that it gets as warm as an incandescent light does.
LEDs also last longer, they burn brighter and they're much more efficient. With LED systems you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments.Taking a look at the overall dimensions, and then we can hook it up to power. Starting with the overall length, edge to edge going this directions, it's about 6 inches. Edge to edge this direction is 3 1/2 inches, and the overall depth, that's how far it sticks out from the mounting surface, that measures right at 2 inches deep. The mount holes, there's four on here, so one on each corner.
Up and down they're separated on center by about 2 3/8 inches. Side to side they're separated on center by about 4 inches. You will need to remove the lens to gain access to those mount holes. The lens is easy to remove. I just like to press in on the actual lens and lift up, and then that's all there is to it. It's a nice, easy design, and then you place the tabs back in, push it until it snaps into place so you secure the lens back into the housing. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power. Again, the white wire is our grand wire and the black wire is our power wire. Also with LEDs that have an on and off switch, you'll notice a very fast response time. So you can see here it sends out a bright consistent light. The multi-diode design really helps optimize the overall light output. Now, the light, or the color of the LEDs is actually white in color. What makes it amber is the lens. If we remove the lens you can see here that it's just white light, so you can take then lens off and replace it with a different colored lens if needed, or if desired. Now, when it comes to the brightness of the LEDs, we're looking at about 175 lumens, and the color temperature is 5,500 K. Again, nice quick response time with the on and off switch when it comes to LED systems. That's going to do it for today's look at the LED amber RV porch light.
