A loose axle can throw off your whole suspension. This kit uses four 3/8"-diameter, 4-1/4" long U-bolts that clamp your 1-3/4" round, 2,000-lb axle firmly to the leaf springs. The thick steel holds its shape under load, keeping the axle locked in alignment so the trailer tracks straight and rides smooth.
Getting hardware that actually matches your setup saves a lot of frustration. This kit includes two U-bolt plates sized for 1-3/4" wide springs and eight 3/8"-24 hex nuts. Everything lines up cleanly so you can bolt the axle and springs together without having to hunt for extra pieces.
Designed for 1-3/4" diameter round axles—common on 2,000-lb systems—this hardware hits the sweet spot for light utility, camper, or car hauler trailers. The dimensions are tuned for these smaller axles so you get a snug fit without over-torquing or bending the brackets.
You don’t need anything fancy to get this done—just tighten the 3/8" nuts to the proper range of 30-50 ft-lbs for a secure hold. Once torqued down, the plates and U-bolts keep the suspension solid mile after mile. Spring seats for mounting the axle to the leaf springs are sold separately, so you can weld them exactly where you need them.

Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at a replacement U-bolt kit. This is going to be designed for the 2000 pound axles, looking for an inch and three-quarter axle diameter. You can see how they're designed to fit around your axle with an incorporated plate here and hold that axle to your spring pack.Now, I think it's crucial anytime you replace an axle that you replace these U-bolts. Over time, of course, they're going to get stressed and they're going to get strained. They can even stretch out on you.
And basically by getting a new set, not only do we have new hardware, so we don't have to worry about any cross-threaded situations, we get new lock washers and a new plate down here, by getting these new U-bolts, you can rest assured that your axle is going to be held securely to your spring.When we just throw our old U-bolt kit back on there and we start torquing it down, there's no way for us to know for sure that it's actually holding to the values that we want. So definitely keep that in mind. I think that anytime I replace an axle, I always get a new U-bolt kit for it. Talk to our customer, explain to them the benefit and let them know that by replacing that you get that peace of mind and you know that you're not going to have any issues with it down the road. And oftentimes it's hard to get the old nuts off.
They're usually rusted onto the U-bolts and you generally have to wind up cutting them. So in my mind, if you're ordering an axle, definitely get a replacement U-bolt kit. So when you do get everything there, you're not running around trying to find it. It's a very cost-effective way to freshen everything up and get it ready to go.Now, when we install our U-bolt kit, essentially we'll take two of the U-bolts and they need to go around our axle. In our case, our axle's sitting on top of the spring so we put the spring perch right on the bolt that sticks out, because that's going to be sitting right in there, right in the middle.
Then our plate needs to go on the opposite side of that. And if we look down low, you'll see that bolt's also going to come through the center hole on that. The two outside holes, we've got our U-bolts that come down through. Then we're going to place a lock washer and we're going to place a nut on each one. Once we've got that done, we need to equally tighten these down to get them nice and snug.
Then we'll torque them to specifications. Now we'll just head over to the other side and repeat that same process there. We'll be ready to go..

The parts arrived soon after I ordered them and all the parts appeared to be for good quality.
I installed the parts on my old snowmobile trailer that I was rebuilding.
I sometimes use the trailer to haul some heavier loads that were well beyond the rating of the old springs and that took a toll on them.
These new 2000 lb spring are working well for these heavier loads.
I used the Wet Equalizer Bolts with Locknuts and Grease Zerks to mount the leaf springs to the trailer with heaver duty shackles, they worked well.
Quality product - perfect fit. I would highly recommend Nylon locking nuts be used to prevent vibration loosening, which is exactly what happened to me during a cross country trip. A trip to the local hardware store and a couple of dollars and I'm ready for the east to west return journey.
Did a spring over a year ago, couldn't be happier with the product.
Did not end up using, as the previous U-Bolts were still in good shape and had nylock nuts. Be aware that these have 24 TPI threads, not the expected 16 TPI. This is published in the description on the web, I did not read all of the words that were so carefully written. etrailer did everything right on their end.

No problems with this or the other parts I used to convert to spring over configuration. I recommend etrailer and will use them next time I change my rig.

Still going strong another year later!
I received the u bolts and plate assembly to replace the ones on my trailer as I had to replace the springs. These are a perfect fit and exact replacement on what I had. These came quickly and will work as expected.

Worked out great. Easy to install (needed help from a friend that's a better welder than me because my trailer frame was so rusted, but the etrailer parts were easy to work with).
Trailer rides a lot better with the new springs.

Suspension parts working just fine a year later, substantial improvement from what I had before.
I purchased a number of products from etrailer and I am very pleased with them all. The shipper lost my axle. When I contacted etrailer customer service, they handled my problem quickly and I had a replacement axle in a couple days. Well done!
The products were all of high quality and the assemble was much easier as a result. I have attached a few pictures of the build for those interested.

One of the bolts had an issue but I made it work some of the threads were not good it made it so I couldn’t get the nut on but with some extra work I got it
Not much to say, they went in fine, and secure the axle to the spring seats...
U bolt kit worked perfectly with the kit and spring seats I lifted my pop up camper moved springs from under to over the axle
Old spring seats were rusted away, replaced the seats and u bolts, etrailer showing the measurements makes it easy to know you are getting the right parts

Glad I spent the extra $[XX] as the old brackets were very worn and hard to remove. It would have been very difficult to use the old one's with my new axle.
I purchased this kit for the standard 5' x 8' 2,000 lb. trailer from Lowes. I did an axle flip and added larger tires. This is the perfect kit for this trailer. It went on easy, and the bolts were slightly longer. Also the bolts in this kit were fine thread instead of course thread. Overall an improvemet over the factory hardware and I had no issues. Shipped in a timely manner and packaged well.
I highly recommend this kit if you plan on flipping the axle or need a replacement.
I inherited an aluminum trailer that ended up needing a complete overhaul and etrailer was the best resource I could have found. After researching extensively to find out what I needed and watching their videos on how to do it I ended up ordering an EZ-lube axle, galvanized hubs, springs and a hanger kit (in other words everything from the frame down).
Everything shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. All the parts worked perfectly and I couldn't be happier!
Looked under my trailer and the u bolts and plates wer rusted away, it's an old trailer so I had no details like make or model number. Called and talked to Kelly S. The upgrade from 8 to 10 inch wheels made a huge difference in how my trailer tracks. It used to swing side to side at 70, no longer!The mounting plates replaced a broken plate and I very pleased with the quality of the hardware. I also relocated the axle to below the spring to account for the larger wheels.You guys have always been great, always my first choice for trailer parts and accessories.
