Replacement 4.80-12 Trailer Wheel and Tire for Jet Ski Trailer

Updated 05/29/2025 | Published 05/28/2025

Question:

The leaf springs on my jet ski trailer rusted through and broke. I want to replace the springs, u-bolts, wheels/tires and all mounting hardware. Im not sure what all to pick. I think the springs are slipper springs 23 from bolt to bolt, which basic research suggests 24 1/2 slipper. 3 leafs and 1 3/4 wide. U-bolts are: 6 tall, 2 1/2 wide Wheels/Tires are 4 bolt 4.8-12. This is a saltwater environment, but the jet ski is already 10 years old, so I dont want to spend more than the setup is worth to fix it. Its a Magic Tilt Trailer if that makes any difference.

Hey Timothy, if the leaf springs have bolt holes on both ends that would mean you have double-eye springs actually. Unless the bolts are on the hangers of the trailer frame? If you can get back to me with that for sure we can determine what you need. Also do you know the axle capacity? I am sure it's lower since it's jet-ski trailer but that's other piece of info we need.

As far as U-bolts go I would need to know the diameter of your axles to be sure we get right size. The typical size for a jet ski trailer is 1-3/4 inches like what the part # APUBR-10 fits.

For your tire size of 4.80-12 the part # AM30630 would work great as it's the correct size and bolt pattern. The wheel is galvanized steel too which will do a great job fighting corrosion.

Thanks for the help: The rear bolt for the spring is just acting as a hangar, the spring curves over it. The front of the spring is an eye with a bolt through it. No idea on the axle capacity, the Jet Ski weighs around 800 lb. The axle is 2"x2" square.

@Timothy The part # e99SR would be a solid choice then. It's for a 1,500 lb axle and is correct size more or less.
