Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2019 Honda Odyssey

Overall I'm very happy with this; it feels very sturdy both on its own and after installation. Like many other reviews noted, mine did have some paint chips from shipping, so be prepared with some black spray paint for touch ups before you install. Install was straight forward on my 2019 Honda Odyssey and I completed it by myself, using a jack to lift the other end into place. If your vehicle is more than a couple years old, I would definitely have a M12 x 1.25 tap ready to clean out the threads. There was no way I could get the bolts in until I did, they had so much rust and crud. I had trouble finding that tap at a store so that delayed my install by a couple days.

Glad you were able to find a tap that works, its amazing how much can get caked in there. The hitch looks great on your Odyssey too, Nate! What are you going to use the hitch for?

by:

What you'd expect from e-trailer - fantastic equipment at the best prices. Installation is much more difficult (as they stated) but the video instruction made it pretty easy for me. My one tip for anyone doing this at home is to be sure and have a soft place to set your bumper, I set mine on the driveway and ended up nicking some of the paint off on the corners.

In my view the extra time to install is worth the very clean look when this is complete.

2023 Honda Odyssey

Don’t waste your money!! The hitch flexes horribly with any load. Using a two place bicycle rack and 65lbs of bikes the rack bounces excessively. I have taken a video underneath while pushing down on the rack and the hitch receiver itself flexes and creeks with approximately 50lbs of load. The design is flimsy and uses a rectangle tube cross bar and a very long drop to the 2” receiver. The rectangle cross bar is unable to handle the leverage.

Hey Mike, thanks for sending the video. The type of steel used in hitches is designed to allow some flex, similar to how tall buildings or bridges are engineered to move slightly when needed. The movement you're seeing looks to be within tolerance and is completely normal. Let me know if you have any other concerns about the hitch, I'm here to help!

2018 Honda Odyssey

Great product, and the video was extremely helpful for install. Fit like a glove! My only issue was the paint was chipped on both sides of the hitch. This appeared to be due to packaging. I wasn’t thrilled, but a little touch up rust resistant paint and it was fine. Room for improvement, but I’m very happy with etrailer’s prices and services otherwise!

I agree with you there- shipping has always been a bit rough for hitches but the touch up paint will prevent rust for sure :)

2022 Honda Odyssey

Very happy with this hitch. Third one I've purchased from etrailer.com. I was a little concerned about having to remove the bumper, but found it to be straightforward by following the etrailer install video. Definitely worth the effort to not lose ground clearance on the non-hidden designs.

Didn't need a lift or jack to do this job. My 2022 EX-L didn't have any wiring to worry about. A 2nd set of hands would've been helpful to hold the hitch up while installing the bolts, but was able to prop up one end with some boxes. One of the bolts was difficult to tighten properly, but a little grease and a long torque wrench handled it.

by:

Excellent quality product, delivered incredibly fast. Install was smooth, instructions clear, and the finished product is super low profile - really happy with how this turned out. Installed on my 2025 Odyssey.

by:
2021 Honda Odyssey

Easy installation. Would have been better to put it on Jack's, then remove the rear tires for ease of access. Also recommend putting the Mud flaps on the rear, the way honda designed the passenger side allows for a lot of road grime to get in the bumper.

The cutting of the bumper was the most invasive part of the install. I would highly recommend the no show trailer hitch bar, it is a much cleaner look.

by:
2025 Honda Odyssey

Shipping was quick and the install was pretty easy. When cutting the bumper to fit measure multiple times!

by:

Shipped fast and install video was extremely helpful. Was able to install the hitch on my own in an about 45 minutes.

by:
Honda

I can't believe it came so fast and yet there it is on my doorstep! The box was a bit torn in places but when I tried to move it, I understood. That rascal is heavy! It is also very out of balance and awkward to handle. After unpacking it looks fine. I'm sure it will be a great hitch. You people at which know your stuff. I had 5 choices for hitches for my Honda van, and each was explained in your videos. Then the installation video showed me exactly how to install it on my particular car. Then free (fast) shipping. You folks make it hard NOT to do business with you. You've earned my respect. This is the third hitch I've bought offer the years and I've told many others of your company. Well done.

by:

You have to cut the bumper with this hitch, whereas the others ones bolt right up and you don't have to remove the rear Fascia i think the hitch itself seems fine. however i would opt for the one that you don't have to modify the fascia in order for it to fit

by:
Honda Odyssey

Mounted this on a Honda Odyssey and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Our primary need was for a bike rack but it is nice to be able to pull the utility trailer as well. The hitch was easy to install and Etrailers instructions were spot on. I can't recommend it enough.

by:
Honda Odyssey

Had a friend come over and it took less than an hour. Most of that time was spent removing and reinstalling all the clips and screws for the bumper cover and rear wheel splash guards. Video made it seem easy. Definitely glad I decided to go with this model hitch as it looks like a factory install. When I purchased the 2020 Odyssey in December I had the dealership give me quote and they wanted right at $1200 to do what etrailer allowed me to for $xx.xx. Thanks for saving me the $1000 and having the satisfaction of doing it with my buddy and the expert help from etrailer.

2018 Honda Odyssey

Installed the product 1 year after acquiring it on my 2018 Odyssey- It was a snap, no need to put the car on a lift and only removed the last muffler hangar. A second hand is helpful when installing and re-hanging the bumper. Otherwise its a one person Job. Fits great- very sleek hidden hitch. Wiring kit also installed just fine for the 4 flat. Instructional videos was super helpful and paper instructions were nearly adequate in themselves after watching video.

It fits my 2023 Honda Odyssey well. Install was easy. The most annoying part was getting the bumper trim off, but it was nothing a youtube video couldn't teach me.

by:
2020 Honda Odyssey

After reading all of the reviews I had a high level of confidence that installing this hitch on my 2020 Honda Odyssey would be easy. Install time took about an hour and a half, and was indeed incredibly easy thanks to the video. I used a bungee cord to hold up the exhaust and a utility knife with a new blade to cut all of the plastic including the notch for the hitch. Since there is so much room underneath the car, I used my jack stands to hold the hitch up while putting the first screws in, no second pair of hands needed. It looks fantastic and doing it myself instead of paying the dealership felt great. You really do get what you pay for!

Installed in about 1hour . If you’ve got any kind of mechanical ability it’s straight forward. This one is hidden so requires removing the bumper cover which was also easy . Shipping was fast and no missing parts .

Excellent product and outstanding shipping time. This hitch work perfectly on 2022 Honda Odyssey. Easy install, instruction provided, or follow one of the YouTube videos. Looks and works just like a OEM hitch. Perfect!!!

by:
2019 Honda Odyssey

The auto body portion was simple to remove the bumper skin. The instructions recommended lowering the exhaust, I was able to avoid that and actually found it helpful to slide the assembly over the tail pipe to support one side while I started the left side bolts. Torquing the right side bolts was the crux of skipping dropping the exhaust. To dodge that bullet I simply wedged a block of wood between the body and exhaust to make enough clearance for the ratchet head and socket. Overall I'm very happy with the build and fit. It's a much cleaner look than a huge hanging bar. The only thing that broke my heart was cutting a index card size notch in the bumper skin.

Its been awesome, looks great. Hauled trailer twice from Texas to CA worked out perfectly. Im very impressed with the product and how it offers more ground clearance than a below bumper unit.

by:
Honda Odyssey

I haven't installed this yet, but the pictures and video shows a hitch that is tucked up against the bumper, so it is less likely to scrape the road when going through a low dip.
The hitch on our 2026 Odyssey was from Curtis, and it would bottom out in dips because it was mounted farther away from the frame and bumper.

by:

i had someone install this for me-i did not have the equipment myself. the hitch has been great!

by:

Perfect fit and clean appearance. Great installation video.

by:

Easy to install and great instructions from etrailer.com.

Unfortunately, the receiver tube is welded on crooked when compared to the hitch itself, resulting in bike racks and luggage racks being tilted when compared to the van and the ground. I’d expect more quality from a company like Draw-Tite.

As you can see in etrailer’s pictures, the receiver tube is set inward from the back edge of the bumper, this may make using this hitch more difficult for some users as it is a bit more difficult to hook up safety chains and the hitch pin.

  • Weldnut Broken Inside Frame When Installing Trailer Hitch - What Do I Do?
I am sorry to hear that, Aaron. It sounds like the weldnut inside the frame has broken loose which honestly really sucks. This does happen on rare occasions and unfortunately the hitch cannot be used in this state. The bolt will need to be removed. This is best done with a grinder, or torch. Then the best thing to do is use the fish wire method to put a carriage bolt and spacer into the frame. a spacer like part # RP3022 should work well for this purpose, although I do not know the exact...

Therefore, so long as you do exceed this rating then you will not have any issues with the trailer hitch deforming. If anything were to happen, you would be covered under warranty. • Difference Between Curt and Draw-Tite Hitch for 2024 Honda Odyssey
Hey Kp; they pretty much are identical as you observed. Aside from the price, the only real difference here is that Curt tends to add a thicker powder coat finish to their hitches. It is for that reason that I would choose the # C64NR over the # 76170 since it will hold up better to the elements and roads. The safety chain loops might vary slightly but it isn't enough to notice or a reason to choose one over the other.
