Question:

I was on etrailer and I found a couple of 2" mounted spare tire carriers that were recommended. Tell me if what I heard is wrong. These are the two. Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier - c31006 The other was a similar product, but was an etrailer brand. etrailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier - 2" Hitch Item # e98ZR

I reached out to all of our current spare-tire manufacturers and we unfortunately do not carry a bumper-mount option that is approved for class c tires.

However, there is still the option of adding a front hitch and a front-mounted spare tire carrier. I can definitely assist you in that option if you are interested.

Thanks so much for the response. It sounds like you are interested in the front-hitch mounted solution for your RV. As far as the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Tire Carrier # C31006 and the etrailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # e98ZR, I recommend the Curt tire carrier. The reason is because the Curt carrier has a longer shank measurement to the upright bar (9-1/2 inches from the furthest hole to the upright bar). This measurement is important because it gives you more length to clear the front bumper. Also, the Curt carrier has a better coating; it has a gloss outer coating over the base powder coat to give you more protection against rust and corrosion. Also, we have had customers that have used Class C tires on the Curt successfully. If you need a locking hitch pin with the carrier, the # e98880 works great. If you need a compatible front hitch for your RV, I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13704. This hitch has adjustable brackets that fit trailer frames from 22-66 inches wide. In order to make sure that the hitch will fit your RV's frame, I recommend measuring your frame from left to right.
