Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

2020 Honda CR-V

I ordered it on April 8th and was delivered on the 16th. We have it installed in our Honda crv 2020. We haven't tried it yet as we are still waiting for the Kuat 4bike rack.It is really hidden, the guy still have to cut a part of the plastic bumper so it will be placed back again.

This E98848 does fit a 2020 Honda CRV Hybrid even though the description says it doesn't it fits very well I purchased this item to fit a bike rack carrier. This hitch looks very good clean finish and good quality. When I asked etrailer customer service which hitch would fit they told me a more expensive hitch at $300 would fit.Im glad this hitch fit at a great price.

2018 Honda CR-V

Hitch delivered yesterday as scheduled and I finished installation this morning. The video installation instructions at etrailer extremely helpful . My CRV has only one muffler, so it was that much easier. I went ahead and pretrimmed the under body panel and that I think also made the installation easier. Didn’t have a hoist, so I blocked up the rear about 4 1/2 inches and that was enough. Even had my wife helped me slip the hitch in place and hold it while I fastened the nuts without yelling at each other. Be careful when remounting the rear muffler hanger as there are some sharp edges. Probably took me more than an hour, but that included gathering tools and blocking up the vehicle.

Don’t use it often, but works fine when I do. Very happy with it

Installed on 2018 Honda CR-V. Easy install. I held the hitch up to the frame and my son bolted the hitch. Towed a [rental] trailer from Massachusetts to Florida no problems. Quality product.

Flawless. Towed uhaul trailer from Massachusetts to Florida and utility trailer several times. Installation was easy with two people and took about 35 minutes.

I love that the hitch is hidden except for the receiver. It was on back order, but I received it 2 weeks earlier than the expected date. I had my local auto body shop (Don's Auto Body in Castro Valley) install it and used it two days later for my bike rack going to Yosemite. Everything worked out beautifully. The Etrailer rep helped me a lot on the phone explaining all the different options for my hitch. I am very happy with the E-trailer hitch.

I’m extremely happy with this hitch system on my Honda CRV. I like that most of the hitch is hidden behind the bumper instead of being visible from behind the car like a lot of other systems. The only thing visible is the square hitch tube itself. The install was easy and straightforward, you just need a little upper body strength to hold the hitch up while getting the bolts through. I use it primarily for a small hitch platform to haul small items and it is low enough to make loading items easy and still allowing the rear hatch door to open.

etrailer installed my hitch 1 year ago on my 2018 Honda CRV. I use this hitch for my bike rack and it works great and I have had no issues with the installation or the hitch itself. I have recommended etrailer to others who have also had positive experiences.

2021 Honda CR-V

Installed on a 2021 CR-V Hybrid and it looks great. I wanted the 2" to use the same bike racks on different cars. The install would have been close to impossible for me if not for etrailer's video. The '21 hybrid wasn't quite the same as the video but close enough to guide me. Installed it in the street without putting it up on stands. I have single exhaust which made one side easy but struggled getting the second fastener off the exhaust off so just managed it with very little room to work. One bloody knuckle and a frustrating extra 20m was the cost. Wish I had exhaust pliers. I also found I needed a tad more than 3" width on the square fascia cutout (maybe another 1/16th - 1/8th on each side). I had to do some custom trimming of the bottom cover as well which I assume is unique to the hybrid. Since this is the last piece in reassembly I just made very small trims with a Dremel and then checked it until I got a good fit with minimum trimming. This is a high quality product with great support. I'm impressed.

Haven’t used it yet, but installation on my 2919 CRV went fairly well. I wasn’t able to get the muffler hanger off in the center on the car thus I had a little more difficulty getting a wrench on the mounting bolts, SI has to contend with mufflers (both sides). I also had to trim a little more off the bumper. Probably another 3/8 of an inch on the sides. Other than that the hitch install went well. Looks nice, well hidden. Can’t wait to put the bike rack on and try it out.

The hitch fit perfectly and was easy to install. Printed instructions are a little vague but the installation video makes things crystal clear. I installed mine myself without help but I highly recommend you get a helper to help hold it in place while positioning the nuts on the bolts. As usual with an etrailer.com transaction shipping was fast and trouble free. I highly recommend this product for CR-V owners and etrailer.com to everyone.

Great customer service from before my order to after delivery. Courtney helped make sure the hitch was compatible with our new 2020 CRV Hybrid. Delivery was fast. 3 days! Hitch fit perfectly to receive our Yakima Rack. Had it installed by local body shop owned by good friend. Dino's Auto Body Goleta, CA. Took 2 hours. Photos show hitch rack and under bumper cutouts Couldn't be more pleased. Recommending etrailer and Dinos to local Honda dealer as many owners probably have hitch mount bike racks.

Honda

I switched trailer hitch from one 2017 SUV traded in and installed in another 2018 Honda . I worked out fine except all new hardware was required which was very expensive. The installation is not easy and I had a lift and a helper. Pulled a large trailer several times over 200 miles and it worked out well.

The hitch fit very well when I installed it and the instructions were clear. So far we’ve used the hitch primarily for a bike rack and it has performed well. We haven’t done towing yet, but expect it will do well up to the load limit posted on the hitch.

The Trailer Hitch Receiver (e98848) shipped quickly and arrived as indicated. The instructions included were direct and applicable. Overall the installation went well, It was a precision fit that took some effort to get into place. Once installed ( just over an hour) it looked excellent, the Bike rack was attached very easily. Good Product, well constructed, very satisfied.

1. The "accessory trailer hitch" used by Honda for vehicles equipped with them is a "Class 1" assembly, rated for no more weight than the vehicle can tow, i.e., 1,500 lbs. I don't intend to tow more than that with the CR-V, but I still wanted a Class III receiver, for maximum strength, versatility, and same fit/use on all my existing tow equipment. 2. Despite its MUCH heavier gauge steel construction (this thing is BOMBPROOF), these guys still managed to design a Class III hitch that actually FITS in the space designed for the OEM's Class I assembly. It's a little tricky getting it in there (the thing weighs 30 lbs.), and getting all the bumper fascia connectors re-aligned, but it works, and provides BOTH Class III strength and a clean, OEM look … no visible crossbar, and a smidge more clearance between the receiver and ground (see photo). Kudos, E-Trailer … you guys rock. 3. If your CR-V is equipped with the rear hatch hands-free kick sensor, I do recommend getting the sensor assembly Honda used on cars equipped with a tow package (Honda P/N 08U59-TLA-100A ... get one quick, Honda has apparently discontinued the part). However, be aware that this part of the job will require complete removal of the rear bumper fascia … not really hard to do, but you will need some very specific help on locating/dealing with all the fasteners. I found some good instructions online from a dealer website. Once you've got the fascia off, switching out the sensor assembly is a piece of cake. The whole thing is one piece, attached to the inside/bottom of the fascia with two ordinary Phillips screws and a couple of 10mm plastic snap fasteners, and there's only one "push-clip" electrical plug to disconnect (driver side). The new assembly is great … moves the "sweet spot" of the sensor to the right (passenger) side of the hitch, and seems more reliable/consistent than the original. Even my wife loves it. 4. etrailer's recommended depth for the fascia cutout is fine, but the width isn't, at least not for this particular hitch … it needs to be a little wider than 3 inches … I'd say at least 3.25, maybe even 3.5 … to properly clear not only the outer width of the receiver tube, but the added width of the thick, steel support plates that are welded onto the sides of the receiver tube at its back end. This is kind of a big deal, because once you've worked the tow bar into position, probably tightened down all the bolts, and massaged the fascia back into place, having to do more trimming of the fascia to make it fit this area is a PITA. So just do yourself a favor … widen that cut to at least 3.25 inches. Biggest issues for me were trying to get the dang muffler supports off their hooks without a proper, specialized tool for doing that, and dealing with all the steps of removing the bumper fascia/switching out the hands-free sensor assemblies. The hitch is just awesome, parts are great, fish lines worked like a charm. Great experience all around.

The hitch for our 2020 Honda CRV fit perfect and after watching the video I installed it in about an hour and 15 minutes. Video and tools required for install were very helpful in pre-planning for the job. Very satisfied with etrailer hitch.

I love my e98848 hitch for my 2018 Honda CRV! I put it on the day before a 2400 roundtrip to Michigan from Atlanta and it performed wonderfully! It stayed secure through gravel and dirt roads and the rough highways of the cities. It is well hidden and does the job.

2017 Honda CR-V

Excellent product, I really love how etrailer is able to utilize none invasive install method to fit the hitch into the actual car body. As a previous engineer for this specific model, I am deeply grateful for this effort of making this product fit for the car instead of the other way around. Install is easy, the hardest part is to drop the exhaust, just use Palmolive& water 1:10 ratio soup water and a pry bar, you can do it yourself at home. Took me 1.5 hours for the total install (with previous experience of working on the car) Color blend in very well. It is a quality product as good as if Honda itself designed and installed in the factory. worth the purchase.

Amazing hit, got the class 3 for my 2018 Crv Dual exhaust. Took little over an hour doing solo. Was super fun! Haven't tried it out just yet but got so many things planned for this bad boy. The quality is beyond words and you can tell its been welded by some serious machinery. I got mine in 3 days, I live in FL.

Not to be spiteful, but the item should have been packaged better. The hitch consequently arrived with a small chip in the matte finish on one corner of the receiver opening, which l touched up with black rust-oleum. Other than that, it's a worthy product!

There are indeed two 2" trailer hitches available for your 2020 Honda CR-V; the etrailer # e98848 and the Curt # C13397. These Class III hitches are essentially identical in every way except for the finish/powder coat that they use.
