Question:

Is it safe to use a 1 1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter to use one of these cargo carriers? I cant get a 2 inch hitch for my 2015 Corolla.

The concept of a hitch adapter like the Brophy # HTAD is a good idea in theory but the problem with using one of those with a 1-1/4" hitch, like part # C11265 or # 24913 for your 2015 Toyota Corolla, is that it will reduce the weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 50%.

Since those trailer hitches have a tongue weight rating of 200 lbs this means that the tongue weight will be reduced to 100 lbs. If you were to use all of this for the 24x59 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151 you would only be able to carry 30 lbs of cargo as this carrier weighs in at 70 lbs.

For your application I recommend using the 20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155 which weighs in at about 40 lbs and has a weight capacity of 300 lbs. This means that you can get the most out of your trailer hitch and Corolla without exceeding the weight capacity of this carrier. To haul this carrier I recommend the Curt # C11265 hitch as it doesn't have the weld stop in the receiver like the Draw-Tite does. The stabilizer strap # 18050 is required for all non-trailer loads.

You will also need a pin and clip # PC2 or a hitch lock # e98880 to secure this carrier to your trailer hitch.

I am so confused lol I have a 2015 Corolla and want to carry a 4 wheel scooter. Can you recommend a hitch and mobile scooter loading/ramp carrier? Scooter is approx 150 lbs Thank you

For your Corolla the Draw-Tite # 24913 will work well. It features a 200 pound tongue weight capacity though (which is the highest available for your vehicle) so you need to make sure the combined weight of the scooter AND carrier doesn't exceed that number. We honestly don't have a great solution for the carrier itself but hopefully you will be able to find something locally. Just make sure it's compatible with Class I, 1-1/4" hitch receivers and light enough to keep everything under capacity.
