Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing

Today, were going to review part number LM67048. This is the Axle Tek Trailer Wheel Bearing. This is an outer wheel bearing, and most replacement wheel bearings are high-quality, tapered-roller bearings designed for high speed use. All bearings will have an industry standard number stamped on them regardless of the brand. To get the correct bearing for your trailer, if you look on the inner ring, usually right there will be listed the part number In this case, for this one would be LM67048. Now, yours might have a different number depending on the brand you have.

What you need to do is just get the part number, give to us, and well be able to cross reference it to the correct bearing you would need. If you dont have the bearing number, the other thing you would have to do would be to measure the inner diameter. Thats the critical measurement of the bearing that fits on the spindle, and what you need to use would be a digital caliper to get a correct measurement because it is measured in thousands of an inch, so a ruler or a tape measure wouldnt work. In this case, if we measure the inner diameter of this bearing, it would measure 1.250. Now, these bearings will consist of three pieces.

It will basically have the inner ring or the cone which is this part right here, slides onto the spindle. It would be the tapered rollers right here, and then the rollers are held together with the cage or the roller retainer, which is the outer part right here. The lubrication on a wheel bearing is mainly wheel bearing grease, sometimes it would be oil. Now, there is one other piece that is required and that is the bearing race, and that is the part that would be pressed into the trailer hub that the bearing would sit into and rotate on. Now, the bearing race is sold separately.

For this one would be part number LM67010, and the critical measurement on that bearing race would be the outer diameter, which for that one would be 2.328 inches. That should do it for a review on part number LM67048.

  • Correct Bearing Kit for a Curt 5,100 lbs Axle
Thanks for the information and picture James! Your Curt 5,100 lbs capacity axle uses item # 25580 inner bearings and item # LM67048 outer bearings. So you would need the Bearing Kit item # BK3-300, which includes both bearings, along with both races, a grease seal and cotter pin. You'll need one kit per hub. As far as a replacement axle goes you wouldn't be able to upgrade to a 6,000 lbs axle and keep the same hubs. The 5,200 lbs Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles item #...

  • Replacement Grease Seal For a Trailer Hub Using LM11949 Outer Bearing and LM67048 Inner Bearing
If you can send me the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal sits and the diameter of the hub where the seal is pressed onto I can verify if we have the correct seal. Currently I do see we carry 2 hubs which use the Inner Bearing # LM67048 and Outer Bearing # LM11949. First is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR which uses the Seal # 168233. This seal has an inner diameter of 1.688" and outer diameter of 2.332". The other hub is an Agricultural Hub...

What you will need are the following: Bearings # L68149 and # LM67048 Races # L68111 and # LM67010 Grease Seals # RG06-050

  • Looking For Bearing Kit For 2017 EZ Loader Trailer With 5,200 lb Axles
Hello John, thanks for reaching out.The model number of your EZ Loader Trailer does indicate a 5,200 lb axle rating. The 5,200 lb axles do use a standard bearing combination, the # 25580 (1.75" inner diameter) inner bearing and the # LM67048 (1.25" inner diameter) outer bearing. That said, there are two common seal sizes that can go with this bearing combination, and regrettably, there is no way for me to look up your trailer to know the seal size. The trailer manufacturer may be able...

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assembly For Older Drum Marked HD-1206
The HD-1206 number you found on your drum cross references to the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-5 which is a 12" x 2" drum with the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you mentioned but has wheel studs instead of holes for wheel bolts. The # 8-201-5 requires inner bearing # 25580, outer bearing # LM67048, grease seal # RG06-090, and grease cap # RG04-080 as these are not included. I included a video of the # 8-201-5 for you to take a look at.

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Bearings and Hub for Outback Trailer with AL-KO Axles
I have a few options for you to help with identifying the bearings on your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the bearings based off industry standards. For example, a 3,500 lb axle uses L68149 and L44649 bearings like what comes with the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and Al-Ko Axles part # BK2-100 or the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly...

  • Replacement Trailer Hub for Flat Bed Trailer with 1.25 Inner and 0.75 Outer Bearings
It sounds like your trailer uses agricultural hubs # AH15450ECOMP. This hub has the same 1.25 and 0.75 inner and outer bearings which are parts # LM67048 and # LM11949. Make sure your seals have an outer diameter of 2.332 inches and inner diameter of 1.50 inches. If this matches then part # AH15450ECOMP is the hub you need.

  • Can a Hub with Outer Bearing 15123 and LM67048 Both Fit Same Spindle
The inner diameters of the LM67048 and 15123 both are the same (1.250 inches). That means that a hub with either bearing in the outer bearing would fit your spindle. The part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K would fit your axle.

  • Looking For Brake Assemblies And Hubs For Dexter 4,400 lb EZ-Lube Axles
Hello Gilbert, thanks for reaching out. We do have brakes and hubs for Dexter 4,400 lb axles, but the sizing for these 4.4K axles can be funky depending when they were made. The best way to confirm what you need is with the casting number on the current hubs. That'll tell us exactly what brakes, hubs and bearings will fit. There should be a casting number visible right on the front of your brake drums. For example, what the 4.4K axles typically use are 10" brake assemblies like part #...

  • Bearings and Seals for Dexter 3,000 lb Axle with EZ Lube Spindles
A 3,000 lb axle is an odd size but I was able to find what you need. There isn't a kit, but you can get the bearings which are available individually. You will need bearing # LM67048 and bearing # L44649 for each hub. You will also need grease seal # 58846.

  • Replacement Hub for a 3/4 Inch Diameter Straight Spindle
The only hub we have that is associated with a 3/4 inch spindle is # AH15450ECOMP. This is an agricultural hub that takes inner bearing # LM67048 and outer bearing # LM11949. But the spindle it fits on is not straight, it is tapered, # TRU54FR. If this is a kit trailer then in order to replace the hubs, wheels, and tires you are going to have to replace the axle. I have included a link to the right to the straight axles and the axle-less systems that we have. The axle-less systems may...

  • What Replacement Bearings Does Dexter 5,000 lb Axle
Hey Jeff, based on your axle info the correct bearing kit would be the part # BK3-310 for a kit that includes both bearings # LM67048 and # 25580 as well as a grease seal. This would be all that you'd need as you can reuse the dust cover.

  • Replacement Hub for a 1.25" Straight Spindle
I have never seen a 1.25" straight spindle, which would require a hub with two item # LM67048 bearings. That's either really old or you could've possibly measured wrong or not back far enough. 40+ year old trailers are still around and I've never seen that kind of spindle. I do not have any kind of hub that fits a 1.25" straight spindle let alone one that'll allow you to keep your wheels. My only solution would be to replace the entire axle. If you take a look at the diagram below....

It sounds like you are just looking for the most economical way to add trailer tires and wheels with a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern but are concerned they won't fit when you replace your axle. Realistically this is a valid concern and your axle may in fact not have spindles that accept a hub with the same 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern so you may need to get new wheels and tires when you decide to do that. For now, the most economical option for you to wheels and tires is first with the Modular...

  • Recommended Timken Bearing Kit for a 5,200 lbs Axle
Hey Wayne, thanks for the information. However, the VIN number doesn't help me. There's no database like cars have where I can use it to look up part numbers. I checked online and it looks like your 2018 Keystone Cougar 29RES has two 5,200 lbs axles. We've got two options for Timkin bearing kits that work with 5,200 lbs axles but which one you need will depend on what size grease spindle your hubs have. • Bearing Kit And Brake Assembly For Dexter 5,100 lb Axle
Hello Ryan. Your Dexter 5,100 lb axle uses the # 25580 inner bearing and a # LM67048 outer bearing. For a bearing kit, part # BK3-300 is what you need. The brake assemblies will essentially be the same as the standard 5.2K-7K brakes with the 12x2 brake shoes. So, the # AKEBRK-7-SA that you already ordered will be correct.
