Replacement Hub for a 1.25" Straight Spindle

Updated 06/02/2025 | Published 05/26/2025

Question:

Hi, I am wanting to buy some new hubs for my boat trailer. I am not sure of the brand and it is most likely at least 40 years old. I want to be able to use my new wheels and tires that are 5x4.5 studs with 13 wheels. I measured my spindle and it is 1.25. My outer seal is also a 14972, which is also 1.25. When I look at the hub kits, I do not see anything for 1.25, but I may be just looking in the wrong spot.

I have never seen a 1.25" straight spindle, which would require a hub with two item # LM67048 bearings. That's either really old or you could've possibly measured wrong or not back far enough. 40+ year old trailers are still around and I've never seen that kind of spindle.

I do not have any kind of hub that fits a 1.25" straight spindle let alone one that'll allow you to keep your wheels. My only solution would be to replace the entire axle.

If you take a look at the diagram below. Locations C and D are what measurements I need to find a replacement hub. To get the most accurate measurement you'd want to use a digital caliper like item # PTW80157 and go to the thousandth place which is the third digit past the decimal point.

Thank you for the help. All I really need is the seal, so I just ordered a pair from your website. I will take a look and remeasure when I have it apart so I know what to order in the future.
