Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Replacement Trailer Hub Bearing

Today, were going to review part number LM67048. This is the Axle Tek Trailer Wheel Bearing. This is an outer wheel bearing, and most replacement wheel bearings are high-quality, tapered-roller bearings designed for high speed use. All bearings will have an industry standard number stamped on them regardless of the brand. To get the correct bearing for your trailer, if you look on the inner ring, usually right there will be listed the part number In this case, for this one would be LM67048. Now, yours might have a different number depending on the brand you have.

What you need to do is just get the part number, give to us, and well be able to cross reference it to the correct bearing you would need. If you dont have the bearing number, the other thing you would have to do would be to measure the inner diameter. Thats the critical measurement of the bearing that fits on the spindle, and what you need to use would be a digital caliper to get a correct measurement because it is measured in thousands of an inch, so a ruler or a tape measure wouldnt work. In this case, if we measure the inner diameter of this bearing, it would measure 1.250. Now, these bearings will consist of three pieces.

It will basically have the inner ring or the cone which is this part right here, slides onto the spindle. It would be the tapered rollers right here, and then the rollers are held together with the cage or the roller retainer, which is the outer part right here. The lubrication on a wheel bearing is mainly wheel bearing grease, sometimes it would be oil. Now, there is one other piece that is required and that is the bearing race, and that is the part that would be pressed into the trailer hub that the bearing would sit into and rotate on. Now, the bearing race is sold separately.

For this one would be part number LM67010, and the critical measurement on that bearing race would be the outer diameter, which for that one would be 2.328 inches. That should do it for a review on part number LM67048.

  • Replacement Grease Seal For a Trailer Hub Using LM11949 Outer Bearing and LM67048 Inner Bearing
If you can send me the diameter of the spindle where the grease seal sits and the diameter of the hub where the seal is pressed onto I can verify if we have the correct seal. Currently I do see we carry 2 hubs which use the Inner Bearing # LM67048 and Outer Bearing # LM11949. First is the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,500-lb Axles # DX22XR which uses the Seal # 168233. This seal has an inner diameter of 1.688" and outer diameter of 2.332". The other hub is an Agricultural Hub...

  • Hub and Drum Assembly for 1 1/4 inch by 3/4 inch Axle
1 1/4" by 3/4" axles use item # LM11949 as an inner bearing and item # LM67048 outer bearing. I recommend the Redline Trailer Hub Assembly item # AH15450ECOMP. These hubs are for agricultural applications and are rated for 3,000 lbs axles and have a 4 on 5 bolt pattern. This kit is sold individually so you will need to purchase two.

  • Replacement Trailer Hub for Flat Bed Trailer with 1.25 Inner and 0.75 Outer Bearings
It sounds like your trailer uses agricultural hubs # AH15450ECOMP. This hub has the same 1.25 and 0.75 inner and outer bearings which are parts # LM67048 and # LM11949. Make sure your seals have an outer diameter of 2.332 inches and inner diameter of 1.50 inches. If this matches then part # AH15450ECOMP is the hub you need.

  • Correct Bearing Kit for a Curt 5,100 lbs Axle
Thanks for the information and picture James! Your Curt 5,100 lbs capacity axle uses item # 25580 inner bearings and item # LM67048 outer bearings. So you would need the Bearing Kit item # BK3-300, which includes both bearings, along with both races, a grease seal and cotter pin. You'll need one kit per hub. As far as a replacement axle goes you wouldn't be able to upgrade to a 6,000 lbs axle and keep the same hubs. The 5,200 lbs Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles item #...

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Bearings and Hub for Outback Trailer with AL-KO Axles
I have a few options for you to help with identifying the bearings on your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the bearings based off industry standards. For example, a 3,500 lb axle uses L68149 and L44649 bearings like what comes with the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and Al-Ko Axles part # BK2-100 or the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly...

The HD-1206 number you found on your drum cross references to the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 # 8-201-5 which is a 12" x 2" drum with the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you mentioned but has wheel studs instead of holes for wheel bolts. The # 8-201-5 requires inner bearing # 25580, outer bearing # LM67048, grease seal # RG06-090, and grease cap # RG04-080 as these are not included. I included a video of the # 8-201-5 for you to take a look at.

  • Can a Hub with Outer Bearing 15123 and LM67048 Both Fit Same Spindle
The inner diameters of the LM67048 and 15123 both are the same (1.250 inches). That means that a hub with either bearing in the outer bearing would fit your spindle. The part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K would fit your axle.

Hey Jeff, based on your axle info the correct bearing kit would be the part # BK3-310 for a kit that includes both bearings # LM67048 and # 25580 as well as a grease seal. This would be all that you'd need as you can reuse the dust cover.

  • Replacement Hub for a 3/4 Inch Diameter Straight Spindle
The only hub we have that is associated with a 3/4 inch spindle is # AH15450ECOMP. This is an agricultural hub that takes inner bearing # LM67048 and outer bearing # LM11949. But the spindle it fits on is not straight, it is tapered, # TRU54FR. If this is a kit trailer then in order to replace the hubs, wheels, and tires you are going to have to replace the axle. I have included a link to the right to the straight axles and the axle-less systems that we have. The axle-less systems may...

Hey Daniel! Thank you for providing that information. The serial number from the axle tag is typically required but, in this case I was able to find the bearings and grease seal without it. Your 2016 Rage'n 21FS uses # 25580 inner and # LM67048 outer bearings with a # RG06-070 (10-36) grease seal. If you would like a full bearing kit we have the # BK3-300. • Solution for Replacement Hub For 2k Axle With LM48548 Inner Bearing
The 1.375" measurement corresponds with the # LM48548. The closest thing to 1.255 I'm aware of is the # LM67048 which measures 1.250" for the inner diameter. One way or another, bearing combinations using the # LM48548 are obsolete so we do not have a hub that will fit. The best solution is to replace the axle with one that uses a modern bearing combination. To find a replacement axle you will need the hub face to hub face measurement. I have attached a helpful video below which explains...

  • Replacement Axle for Old Trailer That Uses Hub Bearing L11949
Tapered roller bearing # LM11949 is typically used in agricultural hubs and mates with race # LM11910. We do offer these parts the correct grease seals # CE16305A to match your dimensions but we do not offer any hubs that use this specific bearing as both the inner and outer bearing. Your best bet is to replace the entire axle with an up-to-date kit that includes everything, such as Dexter 3500-lb axle # 35545I-EZ-89 as an example. This 89-inch axle has spring seats spaced at 74-inches...

  • Replacement Hub for a 1.25" Straight Spindle
I have never seen a 1.25" straight spindle, which would require a hub with two item # LM67048 bearings. That's either really old or you could've possibly measured wrong or not back far enough. 40+ year old trailers are still around and I've never seen that kind of spindle. I do not have any kind of hub that fits a 1.25" straight spindle let alone one that'll allow you to keep your wheels. My only solution would be to replace the entire axle. Trailer makers do not maintain detailed specs on the smaller items like bearings that are used when fabricating their trailers so the best way to find the correct bearing kit for your 1996 EZ-Loader trailer is to pull one of the hubs and remove its bearings. • Looking For Replacement Outer Bearing For 2008 Holmes 18' Trailer
Hello Matthew, thanks for reaching out. The # LM67048 bearing does have a 1.250" ID. This bearing goes with the # LM67010 race which has a 2.328" OD and the ID is like 2.15". So it sounds like the # LM67048 may not be correct for you. Is there a number you can see stamped on your bearing? Getting the number may help to cross reference and find what you need. If your axle uses an uncommon/obsolete bearing size, the next thing we would look at is doing new hubs, or potentially a whole new axle.
