Features to know about

Smoother Ride Over Rough Roads: Rubber Cores Absorb Shock

Rough pavement and washboard roads can make a trailer bounce and rattle. The Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit reduces that harsh motion with built-in rubber cores that absorb road shock before it reaches the frame or cargo. It’s part of the E-Z Flex heavy-duty rubber suspension system, giving your tandem-axle setup a smoother, quieter ride that helps protect both gear and structure.

Fits Right the First Time: 5-5/8" Equalizers with 5-1/4" to 6-1/4" Range

Swapping out standard equalizers is simple when the parts line up cleanly. These replacements measure 5-5/8" tall with a length range from 5-1/4" to 6-1/4" center-to-center, matching most standard setups without weird angles or spacing issues. They’re a direct fit for Dexter’s 13-104 equalizer and install easily—no welding, cutting, or grinding required.

Built to Handle Heavy Loads: Up to 6,000-lb Axles

When you’re hauling real weight, you want components that can take it. Each equalizer in this kit is rated for use on axles up to 6,000 lbs and designed for tandem applications. The heavy-duty shackle straps and included bolts and nuts keep the suspension tight and secure under load, mile after mile.

Reliable Upgrade for Long-Term Use: Bronze Bushings and Wet-Bolt Ready

Durability matters if you’re logging serious miles or traveling full-time. The E-Z Flex equalizers come with bronze bushings that resist wear far better than nylon, and they’re ready to work with greasable wet bolts for easy maintenance and quieter operation. It’s a simple upgrade that keeps your suspension moving smoothly and quietly for the long haul.

Video Transcript for Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the replacement 5 5/8 inch equalizers for the Dexter Axle E-Z Flex Heavy-Duty Rubber Suspension System. Now, these parts here will replace a damaged or worn out rubber equalizer on your Dexter E-Z Flex Heavy-Duty Rubber Suspension System. That system we do sell separately on our website, and it's part number K71-652-00. As you can see, this is for a quantity of two replacement equalizers, the bolts, the nuts, and some grease packets. Now, the rubber cores on these will isolate and absorb any damage and road shocks before they hit the trailer frame and the contents.

If you noticed on the very top of these, there's two grease zerk fittings that allow for easy lubrication of your bolt through here, you just attach your grease gun to there and pump the grease in there. And these are very easy installation, there's no welding, cutting, or grinding required. Capacity again, this is for tandem axle applications up to 6,000 pound axles with 33 inch spacing. This does replace the Dexter standard equalizer, which is part number 13-104, and just to give you a few measurements on these, if we take our ruler and if we measure from the center of this bolt eye to the center of the other one is about 5 5/8 inches, and it does have a range, since there's a rubber insert in there, it'll allow this to have a range of a minimum from 5 1/4 inches up to 6 1/4 inches. And then the last measurement, we're gonna measure from this center of this top bolt hole to the center of these two lower bolt holes, so if we do go on that, you can see it's gonna be right at about two inches.

But that should do it for the review on the replacement 5 5/8 inch equalizers for your Dexter Axle E-Z Flex Heavy-Duty Rubber Suspension System..

Once I took out the original equalizer it was obvious it needed replacing. The Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer was a direct replacement.

The equalizer has worked as expected for more than 6000 miles. Definitely and upgrade from the original.

I live in Alaska and travel the Alcan every year and in 2026 roads through the Yukon were very rough on the trailer including a broken leaf spring and excessively worn equalizers and shackles. I'm quite impressed with the build on both the E-Z Flex equalizers and MORyde heavy duty shackles and will be replacing the stock equalizers and shackles on my 2024 JayFlight trailer. The ability to easily lubricate suspension parts as well as lessen road shock will lengthen the life of my trailer.

Those Alcan roads will definitely put a trailer suspension to the test! Upgrading the equalizers and shackles sounds like a great move, especially after the wear you experienced. Being able to keep everything properly greased should be a big plus too. Safe travels on your next trip!

The E-Z Flex Equalizers are much heavier duty than the original equalizers. The installation went well, the only thing was there were no instructions included with the equalizers. Not that instructions were necessary, but it would have been nice to have something to refer to if needed. All and all this is going to be a great upgrade.
by:
Used it before and now again with a new camper, VERY heavy duty and last pretty much forever for us.
by:
Very clean strong look compared to standard equalizers - used these with Dexter Axle flip kit & heavy duty shackles& new leafs 2007 Attitude toy hauler
by:
The equalizers were very easy to install. The only problem was the pictures in the instructions were dark and blurry.
by:
Great system, makes the drive smoother on our Open Range 337 RLS.
The downside is that you need extended jacks to install the system, which i donderdag have.
Luckily the website sent me to an installer that did a great job - same installer as for my gooseneck hitch that i bought on etrailer.com

I’m totally satisfied with these equalizers. I installed these and a set of Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers to my travel trailer because I was worried that something was going to get broken on my trailer because of the harsh ride it was going through on the rough roads we drive on. I knew the ride was harsh when I was opening the trailer door and finding everything that wasn’t attached turned upside down or on the opposite end of the trailer and some attached items torn loose. On one trip the fire extinguisher screws came out of the wall, another trip the screws holding the dinette seat back to the wall came out, and also the smoke detector came off of the ceiling and was lying in the floor. I knew I had to do something to help the ride. I ordered these parts from Etrailer and installed them and I was amazed at how well they worked. On our next trip I opened the door on the trailer and everything was still in its place, I could hardly believe it, what a difference. As an added bonus these parts took away the little bit of sway the trailer had. The sway when a tractor trailer rig passed us is completely gone now. It pulls so good now that I forget it is back there sometimes. I highly recommend this to anyone with a bumper pull travel trailer.

Hi Camillo, I'll be honest I am a bit confused about what other parts you are referring too. I only see that you ordered these equalizers part # K71-654-00 which measure 6-1/4" eye to eye. If you need something longer, we do carry the the Moryde kit part # MR54AR. The Moryde measures 10" long eye to eye, that is the closest option we carry to the 9 inch span you are looking for. Let me know if you need to return the Dexter ones and I can help.

Very beefy and strong. E trailer was PERFECT
by:
Pending road test, but seem to be very good quality and it is nice they are can be greased for longer life. On my application I went from a 4" high equalizer high link to this (2" high), but welded an extension on the trailer frame to maintain the prior spring/suspension geometry, but I don't think it is required, I primarily did this as my other frame upgrades would have interfered with the grease fittings, so the 2" extensions gave needed clearance in my application.
by:
A+ transaction, A+ product, A+ shipping
by:
They are doing well for us. Only issue was after installation and a trip when I went to grease the pivot points, one of the zero fittings came off. Looks like the hole was never tapped completely. Just a few threads in the beginning. I ran a tap in it and installed a new zero fitting. This would have much easier before installation.
by:
I put these on my tandem axle boat trailer, they arrived in 3 days and appear to be very good quality. The 5 year warranty tells me I shouldn't have any issues.
by:
Pleasantly surprised that you shipped the red equalizers instead of the standard ones ordered. Gives it a sexy look...LOL
by:
I worked with William over the phone and was able to order the correct part. It arrived yesterday and it is the right part for my RV. Great quality, seems like a fair price and great customer service by William B.
by:
Easy install and makes the trailer ride noticeably smoother.
by:
They were easy to install, and have worked like a charm. We would recommend these to anyone looking!
by:
I got exactly what I needed for a fair price and received it in a very timely manner.
by:
They sent what I ordered and it arrived before I even arrived at the delivery before bI got there.
by:
Great company to work with. They provide plenty of detailed information so you have a high-degree of confidence when researching and placing your order.
by:
Install when according to plan. Fairly straightforward.
by:
Ordering was easy and the product got here four days earlier that expected.

  • Replacement Equalizer and Shock Kit for a 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Jim, welcome back! There's not much difference performance wise between the Lippert Road Armor and one of the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers like item # K71-655-00, item # K71-654-00, and item # K71-652-00. Above all you want to make sure your replacement equalizer matches your current ones dimensions as closely as possible. This ensures your suspension geometry doesn't change or your ride height. The Lippert Road Armor and Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers both use rubber inserts to dampen...

  • Replacement Equalizer for a EQ-356
Hey Richard, thanks for the information! Your EQ-356 measures 6-1/8" wide by 2-1/2" tall so the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit item # K71-654-00 is going to be a bit taller at 5-5/8". It'll work, however you may see a slight addition in ride height. The width is perfect though which is the main concern when replacing the equalizers. When you swap out equalizers you'll also need to replace the suspension bolts as they're only meant to be torqued down during the initial installation. You'll...

Welcome back Wes and thanks for the information! The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR is the correct one you need for 2-1/4" long shackle straps. Useable length means the portion of the bolt between the head and threads. This is the portion that sits inside the mounting holes on the leaf springs, equalizers, and spring hangers. I attached a diagram below that shows this. The MORryde item # MR46ZR kit comes with six 9/16" diameter x 3-3/8" usable...

Hey Rick, welcome back. The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers item # LC279687 and the Dexter E-Z Flex item # K71-654-00 are pretty identical. They both have rubber cores that help absorb road shock and limit chucking. Dimensionally the Dexter E-Z Flex item # K71-654-00 is going to be a better replacement option. The Equa-Flex item # LC279687 is going to move around a bit more and may slightly increase your ride height but we're talking a 1/4" at most. The MORryde ALLTREK 4000 item # MR89DR...

  • Cushioned Equalizer Recommendation for Replacement for EQ356
Hey Carson, based on the dimensions you listed the correct cushioned equalizer replacement for what you have would be the Dexter part # K71-654-00 that you referenced. These are going to be just a little shorter than what you have now so that should be enough to help prevent the spring from contacting the equalizer. Other than that though your springs could be somewhat worn out and flattened.

  • What Upgraded Equalizer Can I Use to Replace My 5 5/8" Long Standard Equalizer?
Hi Don, Based off the measurements of your current equalizer being 5 5/8" center to center, I wouldn't recommend using the MORryde CRE3000 because it's over an inch longer than your current equalizer. Having an equalizer that's longer than the original will change the angle of the shackles and affect how the suspension rides. Instead, I suggest using the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit for Tandem Axles part # K71-654-00. It's designed to be an exact replacement for most standard equalizers...

Hi Harold! The Dexter E Z Flex Equalizer Kit part # K71-654-00 would not be a replacement I’d recommend for your Lippert Equa Flex 258756. The correct replacement for your existing Equa Flex is the Equa Flex Cushioned Equalizer part # LC145546. The Dexter equalizer is considerably shorter than what you have now, so swapping to it would change the geometry of your suspension rather than giving you a direct replacement. I’d stick with the # LC145546 so you can keep the suspension geometry...

  • What Would Cause Trailer Equalizer to be Tilted to One Side After Install of New Leaf Springs
Hey Matthew, what you you are experiencing is due to going with leaf springs that are too long and it forces the equalizer to kind of fold in on its self. I checked your order notes and you went with the part # e88SR which is a 26 inch long leaf spring for a 6k axle. So the correct spring that would fix the issue would be the part # e78SR which is 25-1/4 inches long instead. I know it sucks to have to buy new springs and redo all the work you did but it's unfortunately only way to fix it....

I recommend using the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle - 5-5/8" Equalizers # K71-652-00 which is compatible with axle spacing of 33 inches on center. It is okay to move your outside hangers to give you more space but there are standard spaces that work well for tandem axle trailers that you will want to stick to. If you want 35 inch axle spacing, then you will move the hangers and use kit # K71-653-00 which has wider equalizers to make up for the larger spacing....

If your measurement from left to right bolt hole on center is 7-3/4" then this is a good fit. If the measurement is 5-3/4" then the # K71-654-00 is the better option.
