Recommended MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit w/ 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps

Hello. I have a 2007 R-Vision Trail Sport model TS27QBSS with tandem Lippert 2800 lb. axles AXL0065. Center to center distance between the axles is 29 1/4, shackle length is 2 1/4, leaf springs are 1 3/4 wide, the bottom equalizer bolts are 5 3/4 apart, center to center. I was considering the MORyde wet bolt kit MR46ZR but Im puzzled by the two different bolt lengths listed and what the term usable length means. The bolts in the shackles and the equalizer on this trailer have a total length of 3 3/8. Would this kit work from what you tell from the info provided? Also, Im thinking that I will keep using the stock equalizer, since I haven't found an equalizer with that bolt spacing. Are there any of the cushioned equalizers out there in that size that you know of? Thanks

Welcome back Wes and thanks for the information! The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR is the correct one you need for 2-1/4" long shackle straps.
Useable length means the portion of the bolt between the head and threads. This is the portion that sits inside the mounting holes on the leaf springs, equalizers, and spring hangers. I attached a diagram below that shows this.
The MORryde item # MR46ZR kit comes with six 9/16" diameter x 3-3/8" usable length bolts. They will be used for the spring hanger attachment points. The eight 9/16" diameter x 2-15/16" usable length wet bolts are the ones that attach the shackle links to your leaf springs.
As far as your stock equalizer goes, the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit item # K71-654-00 will work as a replacement for your 5-3/4" wide one as far as the mounting bolts do. You will want to take a height measurement from the center mounting bolt to the center point of the two side mounting bolts on your equalizer. The Dexter item # K71-654-00 is 2" tall. I attached another diagram so you can put a visual to my explanation.
How old are your leaf springs? This would be a great time to upgrade them since you'll already have everything taken apart. Another reason I recommend doing that is because the bolts on the MORryde item # MR46ZR can only be torqued down once.

Wes, the wet bolt kit is a must. Stock dry and plastic bushings? Seriously! My thin shackles were almost completely worn through which prompted my rebuild. Shackles twice as thick and greasable. Went with the Mor ride al trek 4000. Either one is going to work well, noticeably better tow with greatly reduced “chucking” on my 2018 Imagine bumper pull. My rig sees mostly dry camping off road and got 1.5 lift with those equalizers. Went with 5 leaf spring packs, same weight but 5 slightly thinner leaves. Maybe softer? Added 110 gallons fresh water and other weight to my trailer so heavier than stock for sure. Recommend always new U bolts, they stretch and should only be torqued one time. The piece of mind is worth the work under your rig knowing it’s safer and any monster pot holes, like my rig has seen in Baja, won’t be a problem, tires?????

Hi Wes, I put these on my tandem axle 5th wheel. I have Dexter 4400 lb. Axles on it. It is only a 8,500 lb 5th wheel. We did give them the ultimate test though. We towed it to Alaska and back. A little over 8,500 miles worth. The trailer held up like a champ. The Alaskan Highway was rough in spots. The only thing that broke was my wall clock. They weee probably one of my best investments on it.

Hi Jerred. Thanks for the reply. The leaf springs are the original ones to the trailer, so 19 years old. They are 4 leaf springs, 1 3/4" wide, and measure 21 inches with the weight of the trailer on them (just took a quick measurement). It looks like the correct replacement springs would be DX73CR since the trailer has 2800 lb. axles? The U-bolts holding them on look to be in great shape with no rust. Is it necessary to replace those if they are in good shape? Thanks Wes
