Question:
I have a flatbed 16 ft car hauler trailer. Im not sure of the manufacturer but I bought it new the year 2000 ln Stockton, California. The trailer currently has 356 equalizes, dual axle 10,000 lb. Will this flex equalizer replace the 356 without modification? Thanks for any help

Hey Richard, thanks for the information! Your EQ-356 measures 6-1/8" wide by 2-1/2" tall so the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizer Kit item # K71-654-00 is going to be a bit taller at 5-5/8". It'll work, however you may see a slight addition in ride height. The width is perfect though which is the main concern when replacing the equalizers.
When you swap out equalizers you'll also need to replace the suspension bolts as they're only meant to be torqued down during the initial installation. You'll want to pick a kit with the closest size to your current shackle straps.
The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR is for 2-1/4" shackles or item # MR76ZR is for 3-1/8" shackles. These kits come with the bronze bushings, wet bolts and shackle straps.
What do you typically haul on your trailer?

To directly answer your question, Richard, I would recommend calling Etrailer to give them the exact size of your, axles, spacing requirements, etc. as my particular application was slightly skewed from what was recommended originally by them. My experience with this equalizer kit is positive. I installed this kit personally on my 24C Ragen enclosed trailer (10,000 lb). I have now gone through two sets of tires with this kit installed to give an idea for timeframe/longevity. I have towed the trailer with and without a cargo load inside of approximately 3000 lbs. First thoughts are that this kit will hold up to road abuse well. I run the helper struts as they help tremendously too. It may be a good idea from time to time to unload the weight off the equalizer kit, so that when applying fresh grease to the zirk fittings, the grease is distributed evenly across the wet bolts where wear will commonly occur. I don’t remember reading this during installation,, but I positioned the zirk fittings to the outside of the trailer thinking, it would be easier to service. On my application it would’ve been better to service them underneath the trailer. I personally ordered the kit ahead of time so that when I pulled everything apart, I could match everything up to make sure it matched in length and size etc. It is possible that every application is slightly different either from previous owner modifications or even from factory setup as I have heard about from others as well. Like anything in life, if you want it done right you gotta do it yourself. Take care!

The E-Z Ride Equalizers made a tremendous difference in the way my trailer towed. It is definitely smoother and without all the squeaks of the old hardware. I upgraded with brass bushings and bolts that I can grease. I recommend the E-Z Ride Equalizer to any trailer upgrade.
