When you’re hauling serious weight, you need a hub-and-drum that can take it. This Dexter 12" galvanized assembly is built for 5,200-lb, 6,000-lb, and 7,000-lb axles, giving you the strength and reliability you want under load. With a 12" diameter drum that works with 12" x 2" electric or hydraulic brake assemblies and an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, it’s a solid, proven setup for demanding towing.
Water, salt, and road grime can eat through standard steel fast. The galvanized finish on this hub-and-drum assembly holds up to corrosion, proven by a 500-hour salt spray test. That means it’s tough enough for saltwater use and long-lasting in any wet or humid environment. It’s a dependable choice for trailers that see frequent water exposure.
Everything in this hub is sized right for smooth rotation and braking. It comes with the inner race (25520) and outer race (14276) already installed, ready to match with bearings 25580 (1.75" inner diameter) and 14125A (1.25" inner diameter). Pair it with the correct grease seal—GS-2250DL or GS-2125DL—and you get a tight, reliable fit that keeps your wheels spinning true.
This is a complete hub-and-drum unit with 1/2"-diameter wheel studs measuring 2-11/16" long, rated at 3,500 lbs per hub. Because the races are already in place, installation is direct and uncomplicated. Just add your bearings, seal, grease cap, and lug nuts (sold separately), and you’re ready to mount and go.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Dexter 12" galvanized trailer hub-and-drum assembly for 5,200 pound to 7,000 pound axles has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. Now, this is a marine grade hub and drum assembly that'll fit axles with drum brakes. It does include both the outer and inner bearing races already pre-installed, does require the inner and outer bearings, the grease seal, the grease cap and lug nuts for installation, those we do sell separately on our website and are listed on this product page with the correct part number that you need. This hub-and-drum assembly has a nice galvanized zinc plating to it, has a 500 hour salt spray rating. It's ideal for use on a boat or snowmobile trailer, and it is durable enough for saltwater applications. This is designed to work with 12" by 2" electric and hydraulic brake assemblies. The application on this, again, is 5,200 pounds, 6,000 pound and 7,000 pound axles.
Weight capacity on just one of these hub-and-drums is 3,500 pounds, so when it's used with one on the other side of the axle it'll meet your 7,000 pound maximum trailer axle capacity. Bolt pattern, again, is an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. The wheel stud size is a 1/2" by 12". Just want to measure the drum inside diameter just to give you an idea. Inside diameter is 12", and the width on it is 2-1/4".
That should do it for the review on the Dexter 12" galvanized trailer hub-and-drum assembly for 5,200 pound to 7,000 pound axles with the 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Fast and accurate
As always... just what I ordered in a timely fashion.
Ordered these at same time as ordering new brakes. Went together with no problems, fit just like originals
I got the parts as stated Direct bolt on no issues. I found the web site to be helpful. This is my new trailer parts store.
Perfect replacement for my old worn out Hub/Drum. I went with the galvanized becasue of use in saltwater.
Thanks E-Trailer.
So far so good! Wish it would have come with new castle nut and washer. Fast delivery!
I used these on my salt water boat trailer. The product works very well and have stood up to the salt water quite well.
I am happy with the results and ease of use.
Both drums had rust spots in the same location, like they were sitting somewhere with water in them. Used some 200 grit sandpaper to remove the rust be surface of drums still marred.
These brake hubs state made in USA, but the bearings are clearly stamped with China. I specifically asked the rep about the bearings & they told me they’d be made in USA. Not too happy with Etrailer customer service. When I called to inquire about the Chinese Bearings they said there’s nothing we can do, as Drexler controls the packaging for the Brake Hub kit.
Excellent resources to help determine the exact parts I needed for my trailer project. Great product descriptions and videos. Competive prices and quick shipping! Thank you very much!
Product has held up remarkably; I trailer only so there are weekly drops for the boat.
Last year was lighter then normally but all in all better then I though they would last.
I'm just getting around to installing my drums, thanks for promptly getting them to me, they look great!
I'm wondering if this product has the free backing feature or if I need to manually lock out the brakes when backing up. Any information is appreciated.
Bought the galvanized drum brakes for a 6000# boat trailer used strictly in salt water. With rinse off after use they seem to be holding up pretty good.
I replaced the entire triple axle suspension on my 5 wheel with your products. Everything went well and I’ve had no problems with the updates.
I would highly recommend etrailer if they have what you need. These people really care about filling your order properly and followup with anything you order from them. They assume nothing!
This is a class AAA business to do business with.
Decided to try a galvanized drum for my boat trailer. Hopefully lasts better with no rust. The wheel studs on these drums are longer than the non galvanized version for some reason.
Stripping down a 16 year old 21 ft. salt water use trailer - from end to end. The folks @ etrailer were very knowledgeable, and helpful in my decision making. From placing the order, to tracking the order, to the way the items were packed for transit. Other distributors could learn from these people; in regards to customer service, following up, both office and warehouse. Unloaded the products last night, nothing short, all quality in regards to their products, with great pricing. The installation videos are a big bonus, and something I'll be taking advantage of, during the restoration. Will follow up with picture, (before and after) when I'm done
The drums worked out fine, but the coating is just the spray-on type and not the electro-plated type so it wears and flakes off. Not worth the extra price over black painted hubs. Also, the paint seems to be making the brakes take a long time to wear in. They painted on the brake surface, which I should've sanded off.
I ordered two hub assemblies with the bearing races installed, and upon receiving them, found a couple of races pitted and rusted; as well as one lug nut missing (The reason for the four stars is for quality control). Understandably, E-trailer simply asked for a few pictures of the races; and sent replacements out; no questions asked. Can't argue with service like that. They are a company that will make every effort to earn your business and repeat business.
Everything purchased worked exactly as expected and continues to do the job I needed of them. I have and will continue to purchase all my trailer products from E-Trailer...
Product is good quality, it was just what I needed, And fast shipping would definitely order from again and recommend to family and friends.
Cheap junk. One of the hubs was not properly coated. Will not recommend this to anybody. Cheap junk from China. Photos will be attached.
We had a break down on Saturday when we picked our boat up from storage. Went online and ordered the necessary parts to repair the trailer and forgot about it for a couple hours. Etrailer called to notify us that the selected parts would not arrive as hoped based on the shipping I had chosen. They went out of their way to locate the suitable parts and verify that they would arrive by the time I needed them so we could get the trailer repaired and back on the road. Thank you Etrailer for the excellent customer service!!! I look forward to my next order with you!
this is the best prodact
Shipping was pretty fast and packaging nice and secure. The drums and brake backing assembly were a breeze to install without instructions. I was a bit surprised though that the back kit did not come with 4 new bolts to secure onto the flange. I used the old ones. The drum kit comes with new lug nuts though. I have no real complaints, I would definitely use etrailer again. Excellent pricing and quality. I installed these brakes the next day after receiving them. I used marine grease from autozone to pack the new bearings. The brakes are bled and adjusted as per the sticker on the kit...adjust til you cannot turn by hand and 10 clicks out. All that's left is to test drive it.
