  Depends on the weight of the trailer. If the trailer will never weigh more than 5,000 lbs then you wouldn't necessarily have to go with a 5k rated coupler like the Demco part # DM14793-52 that you referenced. 5,000 lb couplers are very popular, so if you were just wanting something priced a little better the part # CA-5100-Z would work great too.

Replacement parts like the one you're looking for haven't been available for a long time. The best solution is to replace the entire coupler. The most common replacement for the Shelby 5101 is the # CA5100B (black) or # CA-5100-Z (zinc finish).

  We do offer a direct replacement for the Shelby 5101 A-Frame Trailer Coupler, it's the A-Frame Coupler part # CA5100B for black or part # CA-5100-Z for zinc.   There really is no reason you couldn't bolt on the coupler part # CA-5100-Z but there isn't a recommended way to do so. Best option would be to drill several holes spaced evenly on the a-frame portion of the coupler to the trailer frame. You'd want to use Grade 5 or higher hardware too.

For a US made 2 inch weld-on A-Frame coupler of the same thickness, I'd recommend the Dutton-Lainson # DL14008 which is constructed of 11 gauge stamped steel that features tough enamel finish.
