Great product for the price. Fit right over the 3 inch trailer tongue. The only difference between this coupler and the original is that this coupler sits about one quarter inch high on the tongue, where the original sat flat on top of the tongue.

by:

This product works, but is aggravating. Toys is one of them couplers that you have to reach under to open up so it will go onto the 2" ball. Then it takes some wiggling of the lever to get it to latch. Lastly, the hole to put your pin or lock does not line up asks you have to mess with that to get the lock on. Wish I had spent a few more dollars for a better coupler.

by:

The product is great. The only negative was the normal shipping time. It took two weeks for it to arrive.

by:

by:

Fits my trailer very well I am a little concerned it will rust with the zinc coating and it is made in china makes me a little scared

Comments
Hi Todd, Thank you for your review! The Zinc coating on this trailer coupler is standard for trailer use. It provides a reliable and durable protection to the steel helping prevent rust and corrosion. This trailer coupler has been tested and verified to be used for 5k pound loads.

  • Replacement For Shelby 5135 Coupler With 3 Channel
I recommend etrailer.com Channel Tongue Coupler part # CT-5003-Z to replace the Shelby 5135 coupler. The etrailer.com coupler has a channel width of 3" and takes a 2" ball. It also has 3" from center of bolt hole to center of bolt hole which are the dimensions of your Shelby coupler.

  • How To Determine Axle Weight Capacity For A Fish House Trailer
If you have a single axle trailer with a 3,500-lb axle then your total weight capacity is 3,500-lbs with each wheel bearing 1,750-lbs. There should be a sticker or plate somewhere on the frame near the front of the trailer that lists the official capacity. You should also find a sticker/label on the axle tube that gives axle capacity. Also, the trailer can only be rated as high as the lowest rated component. For example, if you have a coupler that is rated for 5,000-lbs like Item # CT-5003-Z...

  • Replacement Coupler Recommendation for Shelby 5135
The Channel Tongue Coupler part # CT-5003-Z will work great for your situation. It fits the 3 inch channel you have, has more than enough weight capacity at 5,000 lbs trailer weight, and fits a 2 inch hitch ball. Since you have to drill your trailer tongue either way you could just drill it to the same specs as this coupler and you'd be set.

  • Recommended Repair Kit for Shelby 5136 Coupler
I have a solution for you, but there is not a repair kit available for the Shelby 5136 coupler. However you can replace the coupler, and I recommend using the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler - Trigger Latch - Zinc - 2" Ball - Bolt On - 5,000 lbs # CT-5003-Z to do so. This will bolt on to a 3 inch channel tongue and fits a 2 inch hitch ball, so it will fit in place of your older Shelby 5136 coupler. I've also linked a short review video of this coupler for you to check out, but replacing...

  • Can Flat Bed Directly Tow with Bumper
In your photo it looks like there could be a hitch ball hole in the cross brace on the back of your Chevy flatbed. If you can find a sticker or plate that indicates a tow rating, and a hitch ball of the appropriate rating and with the shank diameter to fit correctly, then you can tow. It also looks like there is not a lot of clearance for the trailer coupler, due to the vertical support near that hole.
