Today, we're going to be taking a look at the a-frame trailer coupler. This is designed for a two and five sixteenth inch hitch ball. The a-frame coupler is going to let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It's a weld on installation. It's going to provide the connection point for your two and five sixteenth inch hitch ball. This coupler is going to feature a gross weight capacity of fourteen thousand pounds with a maximum tow weight capacity of twenty-one hundred pounds.
It's going to feature the thumb latch mechanism that makes it very easy to clamp around the hitch ball for a nice tight secure connection. In order to do that, all you have to do . I like to place an index finger underneath. Thumb on top. Lift up and then pull it back. It's got the groove in it, so it's going to remain in the open position.
That way, you don't have to hold it back or you don't have to insert any pins or clips or anything like that. Once it's in the open position, you can go ahead and place your coupler over top of your hitch ball and then when you ready to secure it, simply just lift it up out of the groove. It's going to go forward and then it's just going to rest back down so it's really nice, very easy to use and operate. The units made from a sturdy steel construction. It's going to have a really nice clear zinc finish so it's going to provide great protection from rust and corrosion. Here on the back side, your going to notice, right here, that it has the built-in jack attachment point.
That's going to allow for quick and easy mounting of a round utility jack. That jack hole diameter is going to give us a measurement of two and one quarter of an inch and then it's also going to feature the three threaded mount holes. That way you can easily attach your round utility jack. When it comes to the overall dimensions, taking a look a the overall length, measuring from very back to very front, this is going to give us a measurement of twelve and seven eighths of an inch. There's a couple different width measurements that I want to go over with you real quick. The overall width from outer edge to outer edge, that's going to give a measurement of about ten and seven eighths of an inch wide.
Internal, so inside edge to inside edge, that's going to be closer to ten and three eighths of an inch wide. Now, here on that thumb latch mechanism, you're going to notice a small pin hole. That's designed to accept a coupler pin or a coupler lock. That pin hole diameter is five sixteenths of an inch and in the span that you would need for a pin or lock, measuring from this point here to the same point on the other side of that mechanism is going to be seven eighths of an inch. Now, if you're in need of coupler pin or a coupler lock, they are sold separately and you can find them right here at etrailer.com. That's going to do it for today's look at the a-frame trailer coupler for a two and five sixteenth inch hitch ball.
