Hey everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at this Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack and how it fits here on our 2025 Lexus UX 300h. If you're looking to carry around a lot of things on the roof of your Lexus, this is gonna be one of the really good options for you. Now, this one's designed specifically for heavy duty weight capacity as well as just that extra space to carry kayaks, roof boxes, and even roof-mounted bike racks. So we'll talk about how it fits, help you decide if it's the right fit for you, and I'll also show you how to install it. This specific kit has the 47 inch longer bars, and this is available in black or silver depending on what you want. Now of the different roof rack kits available for the Lexus, I always recommend this one if you're looking to carry more things.
There's a lot of functionality you get with this, but more importantly, you get a decent amount of overhang. Overhang is what allows you to carry items a little bit further past your flush rails. So with the UX, you have a bit of a tapered roof. It's actually wider up front, and then it tapered towards the back of your roof, so you're gonna get a different number depending where you have this installed. For example, if I we inchesre to measure from the tower to right before the end cap, I get about two and a half inches of overhang.
That's just a little bit of space to clamp something around. Now, if you wanted to fully utilize the 47 inches of crossbar that you have, you can also use the top channels of the bar. I actually highly recommend that option simply because of the clearance underneath the roof, which we'll get to later. But that channel is accessed by opening up this cap, and you can then slide T track or channel mounted accessories right over here, and then you can tighten down wherever you want. So that's a really helpful feature, especially if you wanna carry a lot of things.
You can also adjust this roof rack depending on what type of crossbar spread you want for what type of accessories you may want. For example, this rack secures around your flush rail. If you wanted to carry a longer kayak or maybe you have a really long bike, well, you can move this a little bit further forward. Now the downside is if you go too far forward, you're just gonna start to get a tilt. So there is just a limited amount of range that you can move your bars.
Where I have it right now, this sits at a crossbar spread of 22 inches apart. That is center to center. That's gonna be a little bit on the smaller or shorter side of what you can carry. So if you're not sure what you may need, you can always double check our product pages, like a roof-mounted bike rack usually have crossbar spread required, and that will help you decide what you may need and what fits your vehicle. There's two measurements I go for roof clearances. The first is, well, how much space do you have underneath for clamps and things like that. So from the top of our closed sunroof to the bottom of our bar, that's about three inches, and that's pretty average for space for most types of clamps. Now another thing you're gonna wanna consider is how much height is now added to the top of the roof. So top of roof to top of the bar, that's around four inches, and that is pretty good clearance too. Something to think about is if you're carrying skis with tall bindings, you make sure that those bindings clear. If you find that they don't, then we do have accessories that give you some extra height for extra clearance. Also, these measurements are totally dependent on where on your roof you do have your crossbars attached. So sometimes if you need a little bit of extra space, you can always adjust these bars out further. Now, here's the most common question with the UX, can I still open my sunroof So you can hear, see here as the sunroof is opening, we still have clearance, so all is good, but it does get pretty close. As someone who's worked on a bunch of different roof racks on a bunch of different cars, what I've noticed when people do ask me for advice for what roof rack to get is if you have a vehicle similar to this, oftentimes you might be looking to carry roof mounted bike racks because maybe you don't have a hitch yet or you're looking to carry a roof box just to expand your cargo space. Now, you can also carry different types of things like kayaks or paddle boards, and this is going to be the roof rack specifically that I would recommend in those scenarios because you have that extra roof rack space and because it says it a little bit taller than some of your other options, it's gonna be great for versatility. But if you're only carrying one thing, like one roof box or maybe just two bikes, something that I've noticed too is some people prefer a sleeker look with bars that don't stick out as far. And that's when I recommend looking into the Thule WingBar edge. You can see that video on this specific car right here at etrailer if you're interested in that option. But if you really like having the versatility and the extra roof rack space, this is gonna be a great choice for you. If you're curious about how to get this installed, stick around. Getting your roof rack installed is a little confusing at first when you see all the different parts and pieces, but the process is very straightforward. Now, the first time you're gonna have to do this, you're gonna have to set some up like the rubber strips, but something that may be helpful for you is that you're gonna have the rear and the front bar and all the pieces are going to be the same no matter which side you are working on. So that makes it very straightforward. With your boxes, you're gonna get some rubber strips, so the rubber strips need to be torn apart and then attached to your crossbar. So the flat rubber strip where it's just all flat, that's gonna go on the Thule logo side, the one with the arrows, well that applies to the front of the bar, which is gonna be your taller portion. You'll also have your tower, so take off the end cap and then flip your crossbar over so that you can slide the towers in from underneath. So we're just gonna go right in there. And then note for later that once you do have your towers installed, you will have this little piece that comes out and up to the tower, and that will help prevent wind from going through. A lot of people forget that part. Now what I'm gonna do here is I'm just gonna go ahead and put the end cap of our crossbar in place. That way our tower will not fall out. Once you've attached both towers, then you can start setting up the clamps. So there's a couple different parts here. The first is gonna have an A stamp on it, and this will fit into the tower just like that. And then you'll hold that piece in with the rubber pad B and that will fit in like that. And then C is going to secure into the lip right there, and it's gonna go up and over this bolt. All right. And then that's gonna be held in place by your final piece, which is this nut here. So all of the towers are going to use the same parts, so it'll be A, B, C, and D. And now you can just gently lift this onto your roof. Now you actually have the options here of where on your roof you may want this. You could either go a little bit more forward or a little bit more backwards. There's gonna be some holes also on your roof that you can use as a guideline to where you want your roof rack to be. But once you have this on there, you'll also need to take some measurements for the overhang just to make sure there's an equal amount of crossbar on each side and you're not lopsided. Once you've decided on your spot and that you've measured for the length, and you can tighten down here with this bolt, now the tool included is gonna be a torque tool, meaning as you tighten down, this will prevent over tightening. Now what I did is I already tightened down the other side about 75%. We're just gonna keep going until this is fully secured. You'll hear click like that once you know it's good. And you'll also see that the hooks are hooked around your flush rail. Once all four towers are tightened down and you've double checked that they all click, you're gonna finish this off with the end cap. Now your towers are going to come with these plastic end caps right out of the box. Those just pop into your cap. if you want, you can use Thule one key system lock cores. Those are sold separately as packs here at etrailer. I use plastic end caps, and you just use a screwdriver to turn that in, and now your tower is secure. Now, this isn't a scientific step, but I like to give them the good old shake just to make sure that all the towers are in place. And that's gonna be it for the installation of your roof rack. Now, from this point onwards, all you need to do is just double check that everything is tightened down with that torque tool before your trips. And now you can load this up with all kinds of fun things and hit the road and get on with your journey. This was a look at the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack with a 47 inch long bars. This is the first top of the line roof rack system I have purchased. I never expected to have issues but this thing is so universal, with gaps everywhere, that I can’t get it to stop whistling. I wish I could return and get my money back. I really expected something better from such an expensive system.

For the Lexus RX 350 with the panoramic roof you need this kit. It fits perfectly with no damage to the side rails. Lexus does not make a roof rack for models with a panoramic roof, but this solves that issue with perfection.
The online tutorial was excellent and I was able to install the roof rack myself. The only disappointment is my board loader doesn’t work with the flush mount system.

Thule products are not the cheapest but they are just so well engineered it brings a smile to your face every time you assemble them. I have 7 year old aero blade bars and bought these foot packs (and fit kit) for a new car. Taking off the old feet off the bars was flawless - every part, whether plastic, rubber or metal is still perfect after 7 years of use and shed storage.
Etrailer were fabulous as usual - initial phone consultation to confirm feet will fit old bars and then quick online ordering etc.

These crossbars were perfect for my 2019 Honda CRV! They do make a slight high pitched whistle at high speeds when the sunroof is open, but it’s certainly tolerable and understandable. They are strong and sturdy and haven’t faded a bit after a year of use.

They are super sturdy, solidly mounted and look good on the vehicle. Mine will be mainly used for surfboards and SUP’s. The assembly and installation was a breeze. The included written instructions would have been sufficient for a seamless installation but I also watched one of many YouTube videos that demonstrated very clearly every step of assembly and installation for this specific set of racks.

I ordered the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 50" with the Evo Flush Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Flush Side Rails and the Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Rail and Edge Flush Rail Roof Rack Feet for my 2020 Mazda CX9. I appreciated the product selector to make sure I was getting all the correct parts. I was happy with the products, but I did run into an issue where 1 of the rail feet had a defective bolt which required a replacement. I was very satisfied with etrailer's customer support, and how well they worked with me to get the part replaced quickly. I'm giving this a 4 start only because of the hassle of receiving a defective one initially
Easy to assemble and install. Love the way etrailer packages everything you need and they all are correct for the vehicle you are mounting them on. Once installed they appear very strong. Installed on a 2023 Chevy Tahoe and did not interfere with the sunroof.

I’ve had it on my 2021 Kia Telluride now for a few months and it works great. When I was mounting the forward bar, I opened the sun roof to make sure I was comfortable with the roof window and bar clearance.

Thule Rack looks awesome on my Kia Telluride. Products took a while to get to me because they were on backorder but it's not etrailer, they were on backorder everywhere. I messed up one of the pieces of rubber while installing and etrailer sent me a new one at no charge. Definitely recommend etrailer.

Installing the roof rack went well. Estimate start to finish was about 2 hours. Found it best to really examine each diagram in Thule’s step by step instructions to get it all right on the first try.
Hardness part of the installation was getting the crossbars installed at the proper distances. A tailor’s soft measuring tape & some masking were great aids.
Great roof cross bars for the Lexus RX450h ! Better and beefier than the OEM cross bars. Yes, these are more expensive (wish they weren't! Locks should be included in the base cost) They are solid and planted the XXL roof carrier with ease. Took a bit to center the roof carrier- so we could open the rear door without crashing into it. Only took a 3 mpg hit with the racks and carrier on the roof (@ +5 mph over speed limit on the highway) I really like the way they look on the vehicle. We're probably going to keep them up for snowboarding season. Keep in mind once they're initially installed- they're a snap to take down as well.I made a mark on the inside on the rails to make reinstalling easier.

Great looking product. Fits very well on the car and the bars are actually pretty quiet. It is somewhat a pain to mount and dismount so plan on 30-45 minutes at least. In my opinion, if you put them on leave them there for the season as it is not very friendly to mount or dismount.

It took me a VERY long time to figure out what I needed to mount my Hullivator on my 22 Subaru Outback Limited. I bought the wrong parts on round 1, and finally after 2 yrs of frustration, asked AI what I needed. I don't entirely trust AI, but it got me on the right track. I asked the 'chat' person on etrailer about the AI suggestion, and the gal who helped me, Autumn, said the feet part was correct, but to use these feet and the TH37CE fit kit. I ordered immediately. Today was the day. Of note, the fit kit has specific parts for the front and rear passenger and front and rear driver side. Pay attention to the photo directions. The parts are different for each side. On my Outback, they mount at 69cm apart on the Subaru rails (folded in) on the Thule Wingbar Evo 55" bars. The cladding and design of the Outback roof system leaves much to be desired, but this worked and I'm looking forward to FINALLY using my Hullivator.
