In order to carry a cargo basket on the roof of your 2018 Kia Soul you are going to need a roof rack. The correct roof rack for you is the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar System part # TH711220, part # TH460R, and part # THKIT4051.

Then for a roof basket I recommend the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part # C18115. This basket measures to be 41-1/2" Long x 37" Wide x 4" Deep. It has a 150 lb weight capacity though you will need to confirm the vehicle's roof weight capacity beforehand. You should have no problems opening the rear hatch with this basket installed.

I have two options for you to secure your cargo to the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket part # C18115. For this, I recommend the Curt Stretchable Cargo Net part # C18200 or the Curt Cargo Bag for Roof Basket part # C18220. The cargo bag is waterproof so if you have any valuable cargo that cannot get wet then this will be the better option for you.
