Question:

We have a 2021 Hyundai Palisade with a Hyundai roof rack. Can we use those with a Thule hullavator system? If not, what will we need to adapt for that Thule system. Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben; unfortunately, the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 will not fit your Hyundai factory roof rack. The Hullavator requires crossbars that extend 4" - 8" beyond the feet for proper clearance so you will need to put on an aftermarket rack to meet these requirements.

Sticking with Thule, I recommend the WingBar Evo rack. You will need the Evo Flush Rail Feet # TH710601 and the Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Rail Roof Rack Feet # TH83CE. Thule typically recommends the 50" bars but they won't have enough overhang for a Hullavator so we can jump to the 60" bars # TH711520 which will give you the necessary clearance.

Robin, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, based on two phone conversations with and assurances of two of your colleagues while I was waiting for a reply, I have ordered the 50 inch wigbars along with the other items. I an going to oder the 60 inch bars now and hope etrailer will cover the shipping of the 50 inch bars back to you. Thanks again. Ben.

@BenA I'm sorry to hear that. You can go ahead and throw the 50" bars up there and see if they'll work but I'm like 99% sure they won't have that extra 4" past the feet. Before you try to sort out a return with customer service it is worth double checking since you will already have them in hand. This isn't a measurement Thule and other companies provide for us to reference. We did install some 50" Yakima bars on a 2020 Hyundai Palisade and that distance was 3-1/2" which wouldn't be enough so that is my best point of reference. I also took a look at installations outside of etrailer and it didn't look like 50" bars would cut it. 60" bars definitely will and that extra clearance is nice to have making them the better choice.

Thanks again, Robin. Actually, one of your colleagues was able to swap the 60" bars for the 50" bars before my ordered was shipped. I emailed her when the confirmation of my new order was sent to me. So, thanks to her help, and yours, I won't have to return anything. I appreciate your help and that of your associates! Ben
