Easy people to work with
by:
Very good follow up and updates on my order. Product is exactly what I expected and good heavy duty piece.
by:
I bought these to replace one on my horse trailer that had lost a screw and fallen off and I’m so disappointed. They work perfectly fine as long as you aren’t moving. Once you start driving and hit a bump the plunger pops out and either the door swings closed or starts flapping around in the wind and you have to pull over to fix it. I had to haul my horse 2.5 hours in the heat last weekend and had to stop at least 5 times to open the doors back up because they kept coming undone. Really wish I’d bought something else instead.

Thank you for your review. This door holder is meant to hold trailer doors open during loading and unloading. This is not supposed to be used to hold doors open on the highway. You can watch our video about the product here:

I remember seeing this on an old 60's trailer that I camped in as a kid. I currently have a 1990 layton skyline. My door was missing a door holder so I purchased this one. The door I have is very flimsy so this wasn't a very good fit for my door(this door holder requires you to push fairly hard to get the knob in the grommet). I ended up reinforcing my door with some plywood on the inside and bolting this door holder in place through the plywood. The door is still a bit flimsy but this will do the trick.
by:
This is a very well made heavy duty product. However, I installed it on a 46 degree day (which is to be expected on many a camping trip) and the rubber grommet in the female piece is so stiff that I was afraid of actually breaking the door in trying to get it to engage! I am hoping that it will soften up in warmer climes- if not I will ream it out a bit with a drill bit.
by:
I have a 1995 Northstar popup camper and this door holder nicely replaced the old broken plastic one. The mounting hole locations were slightly different but I'll fill the unused holes. Thanks etrailer.
by:
Purchased this item a year ago now on my camper to prop the door open. Worked great for about 3 months then the rubber insert seemed to work itself loose every time I un-propped the door the rubber would come with it..I don't no if it was just a malfunction with the single part I ordered or every part but I threw some industrial adhesive I got from work in there and took care of the problem..but, all and all works great for my use
by:
Quality is great, install was easy. I do wish etrailer sold the rivets needed to attach this product.

These can be installed with a quarter inch self tapping screws.

by:
these are the absolute best Socket Door Holders I have found! No matter how hard the wind blows, my doors stay open! With this modification I can work from any busy street and not worry about my trailer doors blowing open and hitting a passing car!
by:

Have not got around to installing it. But it is very well built and I will be installing it soon.

by:
Keeps the trailer doors in place during those windy days. No more getting hit by a swinging door. Boy that hurts!
by:
Have yet to install as the mounting hardware for it was missing with order.

That is probably because the hardware is not included with this product. You can find the screws at your local hardware store. You will need .25 self tapping screws, like part # FA1131822.

by:
Not installed as yet, but looks very sturdy and exactly what we expected. Service from etrailer has been great and tracking follow up was very punctual. Also loved installation video... very helpful. Thank you. Ed
by:
Very heavy duty, free shipping, arrived quickly, well pleased. Purchased for shed doors should work great keeping them open when the wind blows. Would recommend your company.
by:
broke in a year, this thing will last longer than the rest of the trailer. Just make sure that you mount it with good hardware and into a stud or frame.
by:
I can only give 4 stars because I was sorely disappointed to find that there were no bolts or installayion hardware that came with this item. I mean c'mon, bolts cost pennies. Charge an extra dollar if you have to but include the bolts to install. Show that you care about the customer. Now I have to go out of my way to get bolts from hardware store. The manufacturer should should a little more care for the end user and include mounting hardware.
by:
Had small problem with shipping. One of the most awesome customer service dept. that I’ve dealt with. Very understanding and kind. Will definitely do business with again. Thank you so much.
by:
Shipping was great. The product is right on time. I go in and out of my trailer a lot and this will keep me from having to bend down to hook the door latch.
by:
Excellent product, I ordered wrong and they fixed it. I gave ALL my buddies etrailer info so they can order from you, TOO.
by:
Great products at a great price. Excellent customer service. I will definitely continue to order from etrailer.
by:
Great product heavy duty. Much better than the one that was on the trailer to start with. So glad I bought 2 going to replace the other one. 5 star for sure thank you will search your site for future items as well very fast to ship and great prices
by:
Have not installed yet, but looks like a good replacement for door holder on my RV.
by:
Ordering was easy, price was very good and we received the item in just a few days. It is exactly what we needed to secure our trailer door and release it without having to exit the trailer. .
by:
Fits perfectly and is just exactly what I ordered. I've used etrailer only twice and will most definitely buy from them again. Everything I've needed so far has been in stock and have been very happy to deal with these folks.
by:
Solid and sturdy. This should last a long time and works great. Shipping was fast.

  • Availability Of Plunger and Socket Door Holder With 3-1/4" Long Plunger
Hello Anthony, thanks for reaching out. We do not have one that measures exactly 3-1/4" but we do have a 3 incher and a 4-3/4" incher if you think that will work. Take a look at the following: - Plunger and Socket Door Holder for RV or Enclosed Trailer - 3" Plunger - Zinc Plated Steel # 37210284 - Plunger and Socket Door Holder for RV or Enclosed Trailer - 4-3/4" Plunger - Zinc Plated Steel # 37210294

  • Door Retainer Stronger Than Rubber Door Retainer
Thanks for the photo, and the best option for a door retainer that is stronger than a rubber door retainer is the plunger and socket style, which are more heavy duty and will allow your door to stay open while the wind blows. This style has gotten really good reviews from our customers who have used them, including their use on horse trailers. You just need to find the one with the correct length for your trailer. - Plunger and Rubber Socket Door Holder - 1-3/4" Long Plunger # PLR62-66 -...

  • Changing a Trailer Ramp Door To Barn Doors On A 6x14 V-Nose Enclosed Trailer
To create barn doors out of your ramp door, you will need hinges and a latch. I suggest a latch/lock system like the Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers - 1" Keeper, # 383200. This will use a 3/4 inch diameter pipe that you'll have to get at a local hardware store, but the bridge-type keeper prevents accidental opening and ensures safe locking action. It will also allow you to use a separate lock like # ML1KA to secure your cargo. We will also need hinges similar to Strap...

  • Ramp Hinge PLR1902 For Making Swing Out Trailer Barn Doors
The Ramp Door Hinge # PLR1902 that you referenced could swing out as far as you are needing so it would work well for you. The slide door bar lock assembly part # 305736 can also be cut down as needed as well. Then for a mechanism to lock the door open you could use a rubber socket and plunger set like the part # PLR64-66.

  • Door Plunger and Socket Recommendation for Holding Horse Trailer Door Open
We have just what you need. What you are referring to is a door plunger like part # PLR64-66. The male end mounts on the door and the female socket mounts on the trailer wall and when needed it can hold the door open.

  • Replacement Door Handle and Latch for an Enclosed Cargo Trailer
The handle and latch we currently offer is the Universal cam-door lock # 383200 for enclosed trailers. The handles measures 13-3/4 inches long so it may be a little long for your trailer. If you don't have a pipe, you will need a 3/4-inch inner diameter one. If you need to hold your trailer doors open, you can use the Redline enclosed trailer part # PLR64-66. It will create a gap between the door and trailer of 2-5/8 inches. I included a video review for you as well.

  • Starting my Research on RV Fridges
That’s a great question and a really good place to start when looking at RV refrigerators. We actually don’t carry propane and electric dual power fridges at this time. Most of the refrigerators we offer now are 12 volt compressor style units, which run off your RV battery system and shore power. That’s become the more common direction in newer RV setups since they cool faster and don’t require propane. Dual power fridges that run on propane and electric are still out there, but they’re...

  • Will Plunger and Rubber Socket Door Holder # PLR64-66 Hold Better than Magnetic Setup
If you swung the door hard enough you'd get the plunger of the # PLR64-66 to stick in the rubber end and hold it there better than the magnetic setup. You would also be able to reach out and pull the door to disengage the holder as well once you've opened the screen door.
