First time ordering from this site, very pleased with quick shipping time and product prices are very good. Just put on truck this morning and pulled our camper from it's storage site, so far so good, works well and has plenty of adjustment notches to level camper with truck for smooth pulling. 17184

Seems to work well. Only used for a short trip and it softens the impact when stopping & starting. I plan to hover near the 10000lb limit with a 30ft toy hauler and hope this hitch holds up. Will report back after more use. 250374

When I traded vehicles, my new trailer receiver was 4 inches lower. My weight distribution shank did not have holes high enough to raise the ball. The convert-A-Ball was the perfect solution. etrailer delivered promptly. The product was just as described and fit perfectly. Thank you etrailer. 365023

First pull went great, didn't have the random "clunk" upon decelerating or accelerating. Little loose in the reciever, but i havn't found a reciever that isn't. Once the WD is on, no issues. etrailer.com is fantastic 294376

The cushioning system definitely works well (I'm towing an 8000# trailer with a 2015 Yukon XL Denali). The hollow vertical part has me wondering why so many other adjustable height shanks are solid steel. It's rated for 10,000# so it should be fine. 224507

Ask the Experts about this Convert-A-Ball Accessories and Parts

Do you have a question about this Accessories and Part?

  • Which Weight Distribution System is Best For a Ford F-150 Raptor and a 16 Foot Airstream Trailer
  • From the weights you have listed it looks like you may at times have as much as 700 pounds of tongue weight with the weight loaded behind the rear axle in the truck. I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, 800 lbs. TW / 10,000 lbs. GTW, item # RP66073, as long as your tongue weight will not exceed 800 lbs at any time. Another option, if you need sway control, would be the Reese Strait-Line Hitch 800 lbs TW / 12,000 lbs GTW, item # RP66073. The Strait-Line sway control...

  • Weight Capacity of the Convert-A-Ball Adapter Part Number BA-1
  • I contacted our representative at Convert-A-Ball and the weight capacity of the ball mount adapter # BA-1 is 10,000 pounds and tongue weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. It bolts right onto your weigh distribution shank such as the Convert-A-Ball # AMAC1. The adapter # BA-1 can fit other weight distribution shanks with 3/4 inch shank diameter holes and holes 1-1/4 inches apart on center. I added a short video review for you too.

  • Weight Distribution Setup with Sway Control for a 6,500 LB, 600 LB TW Trailer On 2009 Chevy 1500 4wd
  • I would recommend the Reese Strait-Line Hitch 800 lbs TW / 12,000 lbs GTW, item # RP66073, this is the best system we have and actually works to keep sway from happening rather than stop it after it starts like other systems. The tongue weight that you mentioned falls right in the middle of the weight rating for this system so it is the perfect match for your trailer and would allow you to upgrade in the future if needed. Along with the weight distribution system you will need a weight...

  • Weight Distribution / Sway Control System That Will Fit A V-Nose Trailer
  • Yes, the Strait-Line Weight Distribution Hitch System can be adapted to a V-Nose style trailer. You would need to use an alternate mounting system for the chain hanger brackets. The Bolt on Chain Hanger Kit, item # RP58305, will bolt onto the side of trailer frame. Once installed the chains are attached by raising the trailer tongue and rear of vehicle with the trailer jack. Tubular frames cannot be wider than 2-1/4 inches with this hanger kit, so you will need to be sure and measure before...

  • Weight Distribution and Sway Control Recommendations for a 6,000 Pound Pace Trailer
  • When choosing a weight distribution and sway control system, you will want to install one that has a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses your trailer tongue weight. Tongue weight should be between 10 and 15 percent of the gross trailer weight, or in your case, 600 to 900 pounds. With this is mind, I recommend a system with a range of 600 to 1,200 pounds like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System with Sway Control, # RP66088. This system comes with built in dual-cam sway...

They are not 1-1/4 inches apart however, that is the adjustment increment based on the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank for 2 inch Hitches,# AMAC1, this part is paired with. When selecting a weight distribution system, the most important thing is properly matching tongue weights. That being said, you never want to exceed the gross trailer weight capacity either.
