  • Replacement Shank For An Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch With A Longer Rise
Hey Steve, We offer the following Equal-i-zer replacement shanks rated for that weight: 7" Rise # EQ90-02-4100 8" Rise # EQ90-02-4200 10" Rise # EQ90-02-4300 13" Rise # EQ90-02-4400 15" Rise # EQ44FR You'll need to check the amount of rise your current shank offers to determine which would be the next step up.

  • Solution for a Shank on a Equal-i-zer WDS That Drags When Backing Up
Yes, using a shorter shank for your WDS would eliminate the dragging you're experiencing. To get you set up, I'd need to know the current length of your shank, the tongue weight of the shank, and approximately how much shorter you'd wager it'd need to be. For instance, if you had the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank # FA92-02-4214 you'd definitely see a benefit in your situation if you used the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank # FA92-02-4100.

  • Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution Shank that has More than 3 Inches of Drop
There are other shanks you can use that offer more drop so you can tow the trailer level. For example shank # EQ90-02-4400 offers up to 9 inches of drop. To determine the amount of drop you will need there are a couple of measurements to take. First, level the trailer and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. On the truck measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. The difference will be the amount of drop you will need.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Shank for Equalizer EQ37100ET with More Drop Than Stock Shank
I do have a solution for you, but you will need to use a weight distribution shank that is compatible with your Equalizer # EQ37100ET weight distribution system and not one that has been altered. I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 12" Long - 7" Rise, 3" Drop - 600 to 1,400 lbs TW # EQ90-02-4100, which is compatible with your Equalizer system. This keeps your warranty in tact and is the best solution for this problem. If you need something with more drop then you can...

  • Shank With More Drop for Fastway Weight Distribution System
For a travel trailer that has the approximate loaded tongue weight you mentioned, I'd recommend the Fastway 800 lb system, part # FA92-00-0800 which is compatible with travel trailers that have a 400-800 lb loaded tongue weight (AKA hitch weight). You'll want to ensure that the tongue weight figure you're going off of includes the weight of anything stowed in the bed of the truck behind the rear axle. As far as a shank goes, the shank needed will depend on the height difference between...

  • Is Anything Else Needed to Install the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37041ET
The only thing you will need to add to the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37041ET you referenced is an adjustable shank. For this, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ90-02-4100, which will give you up to a 7 inch rise or a 3 inch drop. For this same system that includes the shank, you can use # EQ37040ET. I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.

  • Need Shank Like What Is Included With Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems
The shank that typically is included with an Equal-i-zer weight distribution system, if you purchase it with one is part # EQ90-02-4100 which will offer up to a 7 inch rise or a 3 inch drop. Since you have a 1-1/2 inch height difference between the trailer coupler and receiver height, the # EQ90-02-4100 would absolutely the the correct weight distributing shank for your needs.

  • Recommended 2-1/2 Inch Equalizer Weight Distribution Shank with More Drop
Based on the pictures you attached (thank you!) it looks like you have the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ90-02-4100 that allows for a drop of up to 3 inches from the top of the hitch receiver opening. The adjustment portion of the shank has an overall height of 9-1/2 inches, which matches up to what you currently have. • Can Spring Bars of Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System be Changed to Change Rating
Yes, you can just replace the spring bars and head of your current system to change the weight rating. All you would need is the part # EQ90-01-1099 for a set of bars and # EQ90-02-1000 for the head that are rated lower at 1,000 lbs tongue weight.

  • How to Determine What Rise/Drop That is Needed for Weight Distribution System
To determine how much of a Rise or Drop you would need so that your towing setup is level you will need to compare some measurements. Start off my parking your 2017 GMC on level ground and then measuring from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. You will then want to park your trailer on level ground and measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the top of your receiver opening is taller (which is most likely the case) you will want to subtract the height of the...

  • Equipping 2019 Kia Sedona LX For Towing 3200 lb Pop-Up Camper
You can indeed use weight distribution with your 2019 Kia Sedona, and the hitches we offer for it are rated for use with weight distribution systems. First, let's make sure your Sedona is equipped for towing, if it isn't already. For a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class III, part # C13115. For a 4 pole trailer wiring harness, I'd go with # C56332 if the pop-up is NOT equipped with brakes or # TK24FR if it DOES have brakes. You'll also need a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes....

  • Recommended Shank with More Drop for Equal-i-zer 6K Weight Distribution System
In order to use the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37061ET you'll need to purchase the shank separately. For this, we have a few options depending on the rise/drop requirements. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4100 which has a 7" rise or 3" drop. I have attached a full list of options below, brand does not matter. The MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount won't work as the dimensions are not correct and it's hollow.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2021 Lance 1995 with 390-lbs Dry Tongue Weight
You will want to choose the correct system based off of the loaded tongue weight of your trailer; this should typically be between 10% and 15% of the loaded weight of the trailer. I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control - No Shank - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # EQ37061ET which is designed for trailers with up to 600-lbs of tongue weight. • How Much Does the 6,000 lb Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System Weigh
The 6,000 lb Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution (WD) System # EQ37060ET weighs about 10 lbs less than the 10,000 lb System # EQ37100ET. It has a shipping weight of 98 lbs so if you take away about 5 lbs for the shipping cartons that leaves you with about 94 lbs. If you are concerned about moving it around, the spring bars # EQ90-02-0699 weigh about 14 lbs each, the shank # EQ90-02-4100 weighs about 20 lbs, and the head unit # EQ90-02-1000 weighs about 21 lbs. If you take away a few pounds for the shipping materials you are left with about 105 lbs. The Spring Bar # EQ90-02-1099 weighs in at about 17 lbs so if you removed both that would be 34 lbs, making the leftover weight 69 lbs.
