Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Blue Ox SwayPro 7-Hole Weight Distribution Shank. Now, this shank is going to slide into your two-inch-by-two-inch trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle, and then it will provide the attachment point for your Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution system's head assembly. You can see we have the seven adjustment holes here that will allow us to move our head assembly up or down so that we can level our trailer with our tow vehicle. When we have it in the drop position like we do now, once that head assembly is set at the lowest position we're gonna have a maximum drop of two inches. That's measured from the top of our shank, or the top inside edge of your receiver tube on your vehicle, down to the ball platform, or about where your coupler's gonna sit.
So if your coupler sits about two inches lower than the top of your receiver tube, inside edge of your receiver tube, this will accommodate that drop. We can also flip this over and use it in the rise position. If we have our head set at the highest position here we'll have a max rise of eight inches. So if your coupler sits up to eight inches taller than your hitch, that will work for you. And then, of course, these holes are spaced about an inch and a quarter apart, so we're gonna have lots of incremental adjustments between those two extremes.
So plenty of room to get most trailers nice and level so it's gonna be level as we're towing. This does have a powder-coated steel construction, so it is going to resist rust and corrosion. And it's going to give us a max weight capacity, or a max gross trailer weight, of 15,000 pounds. That, of course, is the weight of the trailer plus the load included. It's also going to give us a maximum tongue weight, or the downward pressure on our hitch ball, of 1,500 pounds.
But of course, your whole setup is only as strong as its weakest component. So you never want to exceed any of your other components' weight capacities. This is made here in the USA. So you can trust it's made to the high-quality standards we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. I'll give you a few measurements here to make sure that this is going to work for your setup.
Our overall height, we're looking at right about just under 12 inches, call it 11 and three quarters of an inch tall. Overall length. right at 16 inches. The length from our gusset to the end of our shank there, it's going to be approximately. nine inches. Then from our hitch pin hole up to our gusset, we're looking at about six inches. From our hitch pin hole to the center of our adjustment holes it's approximately 12 inches. And then to the very front to our hitch pin hole it's about 13 inches. So that's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Shank measures 12" long from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes. 7 Bolt holes let you adjust the height of your Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution system. Fits 2" receivers. This replaces a 9 inch shank, this 12 inch is exactly what I needed for my truck tailgate to clear the power jack on the trailer.
Chad in Sales was beyond helpful in getting the correct hitch; George in shipping got me my hitch a week earlier than I expected;;; 1st class products, sales and service. 5 Stars is not enough.....
Easy to use, clean (no external grease), compact for storage, and it just works. No sway, good weight distribution. Having used Reese (dirty noisy), Anderson (wore out fast, poor service, couldn't shift weight) and Draw Tight (dirty, noisy), this has been a great hitch across two trailers.
This weight distribution system is a replacement for my original system which failed after 8 years of hauling a variety of travel trailers. I spent some time researching the type I wanted and the Blue Ox SwayPro was highly recommended by a fellow airstreamer. I was impressed with its simplicity and no additional sway control being required. The website is excellent, you just put in your vehicle details and the appropriate systems are displayed. The BXW 1506 is for 1500 lbs maximum tongue weight and comes with the eleven hole, 2” receiver hitch mount. I needed to mount with the long portion pointing down, this gave me about 4” of ground clearance. (Ideal for ripping permafrost but not state park campgrounds). The support from customer service was outstanding and the appropriate part BXW4001 was selected and shipped very quickly.
The hitch was installed using the enclosed instructions and after viewing videos on the etrailer website.
It looks good and seems to be doing what it is intended to do. I have a short camping trip in a few days so this will test the system.
Thank you etrailer for your swift knowledgeable service.
Almost no sway once it is adjusted properly. Very heavy though, I do have trouble lifting it.
Fine workmanship.
A longer shank would make it even better.
Product arrived as advertised with no issues. Very knowledgeable staff who assisted me.
