This worked out great. I pull a travel trailer with an F450 flatbed and needed this to give me a better turning radius. The back of my truck is wide and I was worried about the corner of the bed hitting the trailer on tight turns. This allows me to make tighter turns now. I did have to add two extra links to the trailer safety chains.
This drop shank worked great for towing my travel trailer with 2020 Tahoe. The factory Tahoe hitch sits very high compared to the Suburban I previously towed with. Etrailer was great with the purchase and shipping. Got it way sooner than expected. All in all a great experience.
Heavy duty, quality product... The 14 inch shank is perfect for my truck and trailer.
The longer drop shank gave me the space to open the tail gate on my Ram 2500 without hitting the trailer jack. I am very pleased with the service from Etrailer.

Have towed with this shank coupled through a Husky Centerline weight distribution and sway bar hitch to my Lance 2285 trailer for some 12,000 miles this past year and it has done a great job. The 14" length allows me to travel with my truck tailgate down whilst pulling the trailer - plenty of clearance in turns etc.
This is one sturdy piece of equipment. I needed a lower drop and this unit is much heavier than the cast iron shank I had before. I also like the extra length - the crank on the camper will not interfere with the tailgate now.
great shipping "fast" this shank was perfect to allow the operation of my tailgate when hooked up to all of my trailers .. one thing .. when my Reese dual cam sway control ball mount is attached it weighs in at 65 lbs. ... perfect length ( drop ) for my ram 2500 HD CTD

This does just what I need it to do. I bent a hollow shank 12" extension and knew I needed something stronger. This works like a champ. The length is perfect. My camper cannot quite reach the trailer but it keeps the trailer close coupled. Jack knifing is almost impossible.
As always etrailer service was perfect.
Fits perfectly needed a long shank because of the bumper coming out to much from the hitch

its been a year and the hitch has been exactly what I needed. zero isseus or concerns.
This extension shank is just as described, Except the actual length from the hitch pin hole to the outside end of the shank is 15 inches. It is advertised as 16". That matters to pickup owners wanting to know if the extension will allow their trailer to clear the tailgate if it is in the lay down position. (it will on my Ram 1500) Solid, welded points done well. Finish is good.
The quality of this shank is actually better than the original shank that came with my Equalizer brand hitch system.
It's perfect. The only thing I need to do is lengthen my safety chains a bit more (which is no big deal and easy to do) and possibly find a way to lengthen my power cord that plugs into my truck...Not that I HAVE to but it is a bit stretched and making right turns could tighten it up. BUT, other than those few last little adjustments, the shank has allowed me to drop my ball and level my trailer out more, allowing for safer towing! I love it and I have always loved using eTrailer.com for my towing needs!
Bought the 16 inch shank because we have a 3/4 ton suburban and in order for the gate to open past the power bully winch head. We needed it to be long. Now I have 4 inches to spare. I was apprehensive about length compromising strength, but we towed two hundred miles yesterday with it and it worked great, because of the dimensions were spelled out precisely on the website, I was able to use my old weight distribution system, it bolted right up with no extra parts. We have a tongue weight of 775 lbsand rv weigh of 7500 pounds, no problem and am very please with my purchase.
If you need a way to space your trailer from your truck to ease tailgate opening, this is what you want. It is excellent quality and the etrailer crew hooked me up with the exact rating for my trailer and truck.
Product arrived in three days,great packing. Good quality and works as advertised. The other reviews helped with my decision to give it a try. It allows you to leave your tailgate down so you can load a atv in the back of a shortbox truck and still be able to hitchup and turn with a trailer attached.
This shank allowed me to lower my tailgate on my 2018 Ram 2500 while still hitched to my toyhauler with an electric jack.
Great customer service. Will was great. His recommendation was spot on. This product is super duty for sure. Exactly what I needed. I can now lower my tailgate without hitting the trailer jack. Perfect for my ATV or Motorcycle. I was on hold for a bit, but totally worth the wait.
The length from the receiver was more than I was expecting. But it allows me to lower the tailgate without hitting the jack on the trailer now. Awesome!
This shank was excellent! I did however cut about 1.5 inches off the bottom for more ground clearance after I established where I needed to mount my hitch.

This item is exactly what I needed to have the ability to lower my tailgate on my F150 when still hooked up my travel trailer. This extended the distance from my tow jack and my truck by 6 inches!
Arrived within a week and I should have purchased this years ago. I can now open my tail gate without hitting the electric tongue jack on our travel trailer.
Very happy with this product, as it allows me to open the back hatch of my Chevy Suburban while my RV is still attached. Also, the lower drop allows me to level the trailer so that I don't have to unhook to camp.
The speed and customer service provided by etrailer were exceptional. Very pleased and will definitely do business again.
